Deep AC cleaning

AC cleaning in Al Hindawiyah

In Al Hindawiyah, downtown Jeddah's densely packed district of adjoining apartment blocks and narrow shop streets, AC cleaning removes accumulated dust and musty smells. Alrabih's team strips the indoor unit with a full protective bag and deep-cleans the evaporator, blower wheel and drain pan in one visit.

When your AC needs a deep clean

  1. 1

Musty smell when you switch on

Jeddah's high humidity creates ideal conditions for mould on the drain pan and evaporator fins. If you notice a sharp smell the moment the unit starts, the most common cause is mould built up inside the indoor unit.

  2. 2

Weak cooling from a working unit

A thin layer of dust on the evaporator fins reduces heat transfer noticeably. A dirty blower wheel cuts airflow without any fault in the compressor or refrigerant. Cleaning restores the unit's performance to what it was.

  3. 3

A unit that has not been cleaned in a long time

Jeddah's heavy dust and salt-laden sea air build up on the outdoor coil and block airflow paths. The unit runs but the compressor works harder than it should; cleaning both coils together reduces that load.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Tell us the unit type

WhatsApp us the unit type, how many units and your district, and we will book a time that suits you, Saturday to Thursday.

  2. 2

Protect the room and open the unit

We fit the protective bag under the indoor unit to collect wash water, then remove the cover, filter and blower wheel to reach the evaporator and drain pan.

  3. 3

    Pressure wash and sanitise

We wash the evaporator, blower wheel and drain pan at the right pressure with a sanitising agent, then check the drain flows cleanly before reassembly.

  4. 4

    Outdoor coil and start-up

We move to the outdoor unit, clear dust and salt deposits from the coil and condenser fins, then run the AC and confirm airflow and cooling before we leave.

What sets this district apart

Al Hindawiyah is a densely populated old district of adjoining apartment blocks, narrow shop fronts and winding streets, where street dust, pollution and moisture easily enter air-conditioned units. AC units work doubly hard in summer and humidity stays high in cramped flats, with dust settling quickly on the evaporator coil, clogging it and causing mould smell and fungal growth. Regular deep cleaning is essential here to keep flat air clean and healthy, preventing respiratory issues and unpleasant odours.

Al Hindawiyah lies in downtown Jeddah's historic core, a dense residential and commercial district of adjoining blocks, small flats and varied business activity.

Most flats and shops in Al Hindawiyah use one or two separate split units, and outdoor units are typically mounted in narrow yards or street-facing balconies exposed to pollution.

The AC setup in Al Hindawiyah

  1. 1

Individual split unit per flat or shop

Most cramped flats and shops in Al Hindawiyah have one or two split units to cool small enclosed spaces.

  2. 2

Outdoor units in narrow yards or low balconies

Outdoor units in Al Hindawiyah are usually mounted in narrow enclosed yards or low balconies facing the street, exposing them to dust and pollution.

  3. 3

    Narrow, winding ducts between units

Some older flats have narrow, winding air ducts between indoor and outdoor units, trapping dust and moisture inside them.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Hindawiyah

  1. 1

Ensure easy access to the outdoor unit in your narrow yard

If the outdoor unit is in a narrow yard or passage, ensure the team can access it safely, place a ladder and there are no hazards.

  2. 2

Tell us where the indoor unit is and clear the area around it

Identify the indoor unit's location in the flat and remove furniture and items around the AC to enable safe access and thorough cleaning.

  3. 3

Coordinate with building management or neighbours if needed

If the outdoor unit faces the street or is in a shared yard, confirm building management approval or coordinate with neighbours before the visit.

FAQ

Questions about AC cleaning

Will the wash water stain my furniture or ceiling?

We fix a sealed protective bag under the indoor unit before any pressure washing begins. The bag collects all the wash water and channels it away from your wall and furniture. This step is not optional in how we work.

Will the mould smell disappear completely after cleaning?

In most cases the smell goes once the evaporator, blower wheel and drain pan are washed with a sanitising agent. If the smell comes from very old build-up or a drain line problem, we diagnose the cause on site and tell you exactly what is needed.

How does Jeddah's dust and salty air affect the outdoor coil?

Heavy dust and salt carried by sea air collect between the condenser fins and block airflow. This raises condensing pressure and makes the compressor work harder than it was designed to. Cleaning the outdoor coil regularly keeps the compressor performing as it should and extends its life.

Can you clean a window unit the same way?

Yes, a window unit needs similar work: filter, evaporator, blower wheel and drain pan, plus the outdoor coil built into the same casing. The difference is in how it is opened and accessed, which the technician works out after seeing where the unit is installed.

Can cleaning fix water dripping from the indoor unit?

Dripping usually comes from a blocked drain pan or a drain line that does not slope correctly. Cleaning the pan and checking that the line has the right fall resolves the problem in many cases. If the cause is different, the technician diagnoses it on site and explains exactly what is needed.

My flat in Al Hindawiyah is cramped and poorly ventilated, does this affect AC cleanliness?

Yes, cramped flats with poor ventilation trap moisture and dust around the indoor unit, accelerating dirt buildup on the evaporator and mould. Regular deep cleaning keeps air clean and healthy.

The street in front of my flat is busy and polluted, does dust enter the AC?

Yes, dust and pollution from busy streets easily enter the filter and outdoor unit, especially if it faces the road directly. Regular cleaning reduces dirt and smells.

My flat is humid and a foul smell comes from the AC, what is the solution?

High flat humidity speeds fungal and mould growth on the evaporator coil, and odour signals biological buildup. Deep cleaning of all unit parts removes fungi and restores clean air.

How often should I clean my AC in Al Hindawiyah because dust is heavy?

Because of heavy pollutants and street dust from commercial activity, we recommend a deep clean every 1 to 2 months in summer and every 3 months in other seasons.
