When to book a technician visit

  1. 1

AC that no longer cools properly

The unit runs but the air is barely cool, you hear knocking from the indoor head, or you find water on the wall. The technician brings pressure gauges and electrical test tools and finds the cause before starting any repair.

  2. 2

A fridge or cold room in your shop

The fridge does not hold temperature, or the compressor runs without cycling off. Stock loss starts before you notice the fault. The technician comes to your shop, checks the circuit and tells you the real condition of the unit.

  3. 3

A sudden fault with no obvious cause

The AC trips the breaker, runs without cooling, or gives off a smell. These symptoms can have different causes. The technician checks the board, compressor, capacitor and coil in the right order and explains what he finds.

What sets this district apart

Harat Al Mazloum is among Jeddah's oldest quarters, with densely packed older buildings that blend shops, markets and residential flats. Most AC units here are aging splits or even window models, running under heavy daily use because of the tight spaces, humidity and dust from nearby markets. The technician needs experience with older systems and very confined spaces, and must coordinate visits carefully with shop owners and residents because entrances and balconies are tightly interconnected.

Harat Al Mazloum sits in the heart of historic old Jeddah, a very old urban quarter with tightly built structures and dense popular markets.

Most units here are older splits or window ACs, with few modern systems owing to the age of the buildings and general space constraints.

The AC setup in Harat Al Mazloum

  1. 1

Older independent split per flat and shop

Harat Al Mazloum relied on older split units for years, and most have not been replaced due to installation costs in the densely built blocks.

  2. 2

Window units in the oldest buildings

Some of the very oldest shops and flats have not switched from window units, requiring specialist maintenance as spare parts are scarce.

  3. 3

Outdoor units on narrow balconies and facades

Outdoor units are mounted on tiny balconies or even hung on building facades, requiring care and expertise to work safely in confined spaces.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Harat Al Mazloum

  1. 1

Coordinate the visit time with the shop or flat occupant

In the old town, business hours and activity patterns differ from elsewhere in Jeddah, so agree on a time that suits the shop owner or residents beforehand.

  2. 2

Identify the nearest safe parking point

Streets are very tight and may not fit large vans, so agree with us on the nearest and safest spot the day before the visit.

  3. 3

Verify that the balcony and outdoor unit are safe

Old balconies may be weak, so confirm that the balcony holding the outdoor unit can safely bear the technician's weight and equipment.

FAQ

Questions about HVAC & refrigeration technician

What does the technician bring on the visit?

The technician brings pressure gauges to check the refrigeration cycle, electrical meters to test the capacitor, relay and control board, and leak detection and flare joint tools. The exact kit depends on the fault description you give when you book.

Can the technician check the AC and the fridge in the same visit?

Yes. The technician covers both air conditioning and refrigeration, so if you have a faulty AC and a commercial fridge or cold unit at the same location he inspects both in one visit and explains the condition of each separately before any repair begins.

How does the technician explain the fault before any work begins?

The technician diagnoses the fault first, whether a failing capacitor, a deteriorated flare joint or a blocked drain line, then tells you what he found, what work is needed and which parts must be replaced. No work starts until you have approved what he has explained.

What happens if the repair needs a spare part?

After the inspection the technician names the part needed and explains why. If the part is available on site the repair is done in the same visit. If it has to be sourced first, he agrees a second visit with you. No replacement is started without your knowledge of what will be done.

Is the inspection for a split unit different from a ducted or cassette unit?

Yes. A split unit gives direct access to the coil, filter and flare joint. A ducted or cassette unit also needs the plenum, dampers and duct runs checked to confirm air is distributed correctly. The technician decides the inspection method after seeing the unit type and installation at your site.

My AC units are very old, is repair worth the cost or should I replace them?

We inspect the old unit first and advise whether repairs justify the investment or whether replacement offers better value long term.

The streets here are very narrow and the team may struggle to reach easily, how do you solve this?

We agree with the customer on the closest possible parking and carry tools by hand from the vehicle, making multiple trips if the lanes are very tight.

Humidity and mould spread through my AC quickly, is this normal in the old town?

Yes, the old town is very humid, especially near the sea and markets, so mould grows quickly in drain pans and ducts, making regular cleaning essential to prevent spread.

The outdoor unit is on a very small balcony, can you service it from there?

Yes, but before the visit we need to confirm that the balcony is safe to bear the technician's weight and equipment, and that access does not obstruct neighbouring residents or shops.
