When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Abhur Al Shamaliyah is a modern residential area of separate villas and spacious homes, and many residents choose window AC units for their ease of installation and no need for long ductwork runs. These units face direct sun exposure on front windows, stressing the compressor and fan, and faults often begin with minor leaks or noise before cooling fails entirely. On-site repair is faster and cheaper than seeking a replacement, if the condenser, fan or capacitor can be fixed.

Abhur Al Shamaliyah sits on Jeddah's northern coast, a modern villa and residential area with open spaces and large windows.

Window units in villas here face direct heat from south or west-facing facades, so regular inspection of the coil and compressor is needed.

The AC setup in Abhur Al Shamaliyah

  1. 1

Window unit installed in a facade window

Most window units in villas are mounted in large exterior windows, facing heat, dust and salt spray from the coastal air.

  2. 2

    Single unit for one room

Each room in a villa may need its own separate window unit rather than a single central system.

  3. 3

Direct connection to the electrical circuit

Window units draw power directly from a nearby socket or circuit, without long copper refrigerant lines.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Abhur Al Shamaliyah

  1. 1

Check the window is easily accessible

Make sure the window with the unit can be safely reached from both inside and outside before booking a visit.

  2. 2

Have power ready near the window

Confirm that the electrical outlet near the window works properly before the team arrives.

  3. 3

Mention if the window is high or hard to reach

If the window is high or needs a ladder or special gear to reach, tell us in advance so we bring the right equipment.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

My window unit drips water into the room, can you fix it?

Yes, the issue is usually a tilted drain pan or a blocked drain hole. We check the angle and drainage on-site and fix the cause.

The sun hits my window very hard, does this damage the unit?

Yes, direct heat puts extra strain on the compressor and condenser and can reduce cooling performance over time. Regular inspection of the coil and fan helps extend the unit's life.

The unit makes a strange noise when it starts, is that dangerous?

That could be a weak fan, a dirty coil or a strained compressor. We inspect it and determine whether repair or replacement makes sense.

Can I install a new window unit myself instead of repairing?

Villas here vary in window size and wiring, so a technical inspection first ensures a new unit fits the window and the circuit. We advise checking before installing.
