When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Al Majami' is a remote coastal district on the Red Sea with medium villas and small residential compounds relying on window units as main cooling. Extreme salinity and humidity accelerate corrosion of the frame, coils and copper tubing. Common problems are drain-pan overflow from algae and mould blockage, metal rust on the unit, and weak cooling from corroded coils. Repair here requires coastal knowledge and quick replacement of corroded parts to prevent rust spread.

Al Majami' sits on the Red Sea coast at far-north Jeddah, a remote coastal district of medium villas and residential compounds exposed to salt air.

Most window units here mount on villa walls facing the sea or interior, and corrosion from salt and humidity occurs much faster than inland areas.

The AC setup in Al Majami'

  1. 1

    Highly salt-exposed window units

Window units in Al Majami' face the highest salinity and corrosion of any district and need intensive maintenance.

  2. 2

Drainage heavily affected by algae and mould

Extreme humidity and stagnant water cause fast algae and mould growth in drain pans and tubing.

  3. 3

    Remote villas with maintenance challenges

Distance from the city centre makes routine maintenance harder, increasing the importance of advance planning and regular scheduling.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Majami'

  1. 1

Specify the last maintenance visit and date

Tell us when the last thorough maintenance or cleaning was done so we can assess current condition and accumulated corrosion.

  2. 2

Ensure team access to the villa

Al Majami' may have narrow or blocked roads. Specify the best parking point and the safe path to the outdoor unit.

  3. 3

Gather photos of any visible corrosion

If you see rust on the frame or coils or any leaks, photos sent to us help our initial preparation before the visit.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

The unit corrodes fast from salt, how do I protect the frame and coils?

Regular cleaning and scheduled maintenance are the main protection. An anti-rust protective coat may help the external frame, but coils need periodic inspection.

Water leaks from the drain pan every two weeks, is that normal?

No, that means the pan is clogged with algae and mould. In remote coastal areas, we need very frequent cleaning, maybe monthly or less.

Do I need to replace the coils if I notice weak cooling?

There may be corrosion on the coils or tubing. We inspect first and determine if cleaning suffices or replacement is needed.

How often should I clean the unit in this coastal area?

In remote Al Majami' with very high salinity, thorough cleaning every month or every 4 to 6 weeks is needed to maintain performance and lifespan.
