When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Al Masarrah mixes villas and modern apartment blocks on spaced plots with wider streets than the old downtown. Most residents choose window units in living and bedroom spaces because they are cheap to install and run, but the coastal humidity and dust speed up grime buildup in the coils and fans, causing leaks, noise or cooling loss faster than in interior zones. Precise repair keeps the unit longer, and accurate diagnosis saves you the cost of unnecessary replacement.

Al Masarrah is in south Jeddah, a modern residential area mixing detached villas and apartment blocks on relatively spaced plots.

Window units here are typically mounted in bedroom and living room windows, and many are older models that have not been replaced for years.

The AC setup in Al Masarrah

  1. 1

    Single window unit per room

Most villas and apartment blocks in Al Masarrah rely on separate window units per room instead of a central system.

  2. 2

    Standard, easy-access windows

Windows here are typically standard-sized and easy to access for inspection, repair and cleaning.

  3. 3

Clear outdoor space for the unit

The gaps between buildings and villas allow good ventilation for the outdoor section, so dust does not clog the outlet quickly.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Masarrah

  1. 1

Keep the window accessible for our team

Make sure the window with the unit is clear of obstacles and hanging items before the visit.

  2. 2

Tell us the nearest parking spot

Al Masarrah's streets are wider than downtown, but point us to the closest spot where the team can park near your villa or flat.

  3. 3

    Coordinate with household members

If the window unit is in an occupied room, alert household members to the visit time so they are not surprised when the window opens.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

My window unit drips water onto the floor, what is the cause?

Usually the drain pipe or pan is clogged with dirt and mould, or the frame is not tilted at the right angle. We strip the unit, clean the drainage system and adjust the tilt if needed.

My window unit makes a grinding sound, does it need replacing?

The fan blade might be rubbing against something, or the bearings are dirty. We inspect the fan, bearings and coil and give you an accurate diagnosis before you decide on replacement.

Does Al Masarrah's coastal humidity speed up window unit failure?

Yes, humidity increases mould growth in the coils and fans and speeds up rust, so regular cleaning and annual checks extend the unit's life.

My unit does not cool like it used to, but I am worried about buying a new one, how do you know if it is worth fixing?

We test the coil, fan, compressor and refrigerant efficiency, compare repair cost to a new unit price, then advise you on what makes economic sense.
