When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Al Wafa is a modern residential district in east Jeddah with spacious villas and flats and relative gaps between buildings, but being in east Jeddah means greater exposure to winds and desert dust. Window units here run strong loads against high temperatures and heavy dust, speeding coil, capacitor and motor wear. Careful inspection is needed to tell simple faults from those calling for replacement.

Al Wafa lies in east Jeddah, a modern residential area exposed to winds and desert dust.

Window units here are usually set on open facades in villas and flats, but they face strong winds that increase coil loading.

The AC setup in Al Wafa

  1. 1

Window units on relatively open facades

Al Wafa villas and flats have more space around windows, but direct wind exposure increases coil load.

  2. 2

    Coils exposed to desert dust

Al Wafa's eastern location means direct exposure to desert wind dust that clogs coils quickly.

  3. 3

Units at varying heights on villa walls

Window units may be at height depending on villa design, potentially requiring safety gear to access.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Wafa

  1. 1

Confirm safe access to the window and unit

If the unit is high or in a difficult spot, let us know in advance so we bring necessary safety equipment.

  2. 2

Clear the space in front of the window inside and out

Make sure the space inside the flat or villa is clear in front of the window, and access from outside is easy.

  3. 3

Switch off the unit before the team arrives

Turn off the unit completely before the visit to ensure safety during inspection and repair.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

Desert dust clogs my unit fast. What can I do?

East Jeddah dust is very heavy, so we recommend monthly coil cleaning in summer. Regular cleaning maintains performance and reduces motor strain.

Do strong winds affect my window unit?

Yes, winds increase pressure on the coil and blower wheel and may cause unit vibration or leaks. We check the mounting and wheel and fix any vibration.

My unit is old. Is it worth repairing or should I replace it?

We inspect the motor, coil and capacitor. If repair is cheaper than replacement and extends unit life by a year or more, we recommend it. Otherwise, replacement is better.

Can you reach the unit on all villa walls?

Most Al Wafa villas are easy to access, but some high units need special equipment. We confirm the location before the appointment.
