When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Buildings on the North Corniche are newer and more spacious than downtown, but many villas, flats and commercial units still use window units in extra rooms, storage or showrooms. The humid coastal air and salt accelerate wear on window components, especially the metal coils and fan, and salt deposits clog the drain openings faster than in inland areas. We focus on checking the coil condition, drain angle and electrical capacitor during every repair call.

The North Corniche is a modern district of spacious villas and mixed residential and commercial buildings along Jeddah's seafront.

Window units here are usually mounted in side rooms or storage areas rather than main rooms, making them easier to access for repair.

The AC setup in North Corniche

  1. 1

Window units in side rooms and storage areas

Most North Corniche villas and shops keep window units in extra rooms for ease of installation and maintenance.

  2. 2

    Direct exposure to coastal air

The outdoor-facing parts here face direct coastal humidity and salt, accelerating metal corrosion and rust.

  3. 3

Easy access from inside the room

Unlike tightly packed buildings, units here sit close to the user, making early inspection and routine maintenance straightforward.

Before the visit

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

My window unit drips into the room, is that a serious fault?

Not always. The drain pan might be tilted wrong or the outlet clogged by coastal salt deposits. We inspect it and fix the issue without replacement in most cases.

Does the coastal salt on the Corniche damage window AC units?

Yes, salt and humidity accelerate rust on the coils and fan, and block the drain outlets faster. Regular checking of the coil and drain twice yearly helps extend the unit's life.

My window unit makes a grinding noise inside, what could it be?

The fan could be dirty, the bearings loose, or the capacitor failing. We strip the unit down and inspect each part to pinpoint the noise precisely.

Is repairing a window unit cheaper than buying a new one?

It depends on the fault, the unit's age and model. Send a photo on WhatsApp and we'll assess it and advise you on the most cost-effective choice.
