Who needs a new cold room?

  1. 1

Restaurant or bakery expanding its store

Your current storage cannot hold the quantities you need, or you are relying on domestic fridges that are not up to the job. A purpose-built cold room keeps ingredients at a steady temperature and cuts waste caused by temperature swings.

  2. 2

Pharmacy or clinic needing medical storage

Medicines, vaccines and sensitive medical supplies need a temperature that does not shift when the door opens or when Jeddah's summer heat peaks. We build the room to suit that use and choose the condensing unit after the site survey.

  3. 3

Warehouse or grocery starting from scratch

You are fitting out your premises and want a cold room built in from the start, or you want to convert part of a warehouse into one. The site, the daily stock volume and how often the door opens all shape the right specification, and we work that out with you at the survey.

Who it's for

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey

The technician visits, measures the available space and asks about your stock type, quantities and daily use to set the room dimensions and the capacity the unit needs.

  2. 2

    Panels and door

We fit the insulated wall and ceiling panels and seal every joint, then hang the cold room door in its frame and check that the seal presses evenly on all four sides.

  3. 3

    Cooling unit and pipework

We mount the condensing unit where it has enough air, fit the evaporator inside the room, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, fully insulated to reduce heat gain.

  4. 4

    Vacuum, start-up, handover

We vacuum the copper line and test joints before starting the unit, then set the temperature controller and confirm the room reaches the target temperature before handing over.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.

What sets this district apart

Al Asalah mixes commercial shops, restaurants and residential flats, many in relatively newer buildings with moderate floor space. Cold rooms here are mostly installed in small storage areas or restaurant corners and need designs that fit tight spaces and heavy daily loads. North Jeddah's temperatures rise rapidly, so proper insulation, a well-sealed door and a strong condenser are essential to prevent temperature swings.

Al Asalah is a mixed commercial and residential district in north Jeddah, home to food shops, restaurants, cafés and flats in modern buildings.

Most cold rooms in Al Asalah serve restaurants and cafés with moderate to heavy daily loads, and outdoor units are typically mounted on building roofs.

The AC setup in Al Asalah

  1. 1

Cold room built into restaurant storage

Panels, door and condenser are installed so the room becomes an integrated part of the storage area, with even cold air distribution.

  2. 2

    Outdoor units on building rooftops

The condenser and fan mount on the roof to save indoor space, with pipes running from the roof to the room in a protected run.

  3. 3

    Electronic temperature control system

A digital thermostat maintains the set temperature automatically and alerts if there is any drift or fault.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Asalah

  1. 1

Decide the outdoor unit location and entry point

Confirm roof or balcony access for the outdoor unit and identify the cold room entry from the storage area before the visit.

  2. 2

Agree on room size and expected load

Tell us what products you will store and the daily quantity so the team can choose the right panel size and condenser capacity.

  3. 3

Clear the space and remove obstacles

Make sure the space earmarked for the room is clear of furniture and obstacles, and that there is power nearby for the installation.

FAQ

Questions about Cold room installation

How is the right cold room size worked out?

Size depends on the type and quantity of stock, how often fresh goods come in and how many times the door opens each day. These factors together set the dimensions and the cooling unit capacity needed, which is why we do not suggest a size before the site visit.

Where does the condensing unit go in a restaurant or warehouse?

The condensing unit needs enough air around it, distance from heat sources and a spot a technician can reach for servicing. We decide the best location at the site survey based on the building layout and how the space is used.

What happens to my stock if the power to the room cuts out?

A well-insulated room with a tight door holds its cold for a limited time if the door stays shut, and longer the thicker the insulation and the better the seal. So we choose the panel thickness and the door seal with care, and set the controller to raise an alarm when the temperature rises, so you can act before stock spoils.

What is the difference between this room and a freezer room?

A chiller room works above freezing and suits vegetables, medicines, dairy and baked goods. A freezer room works below freezing and needs thicker insulation, an insulated floor, a heated door frame and a defrost system. If you need freezing or a combined room, we offer that as a dedicated service.

Can a cold room be installed in a rented space without major structural changes?

In most cases yes. Insulated panels are assembled inside the existing space without demolition or construction work, and the condensing unit is fixed in a suitable spot the technician identifies at the survey. Ceiling type and building ventilation may affect the details, and we confirm those after seeing the site.

Can you install compact cold rooms for restaurants and cafés?

Yes, we design cold rooms in sizes that fit your available space, whether in a restaurant store or small corner. We choose the condenser and door size based on your daily load.

How do you route the outdoor unit and pipes in a modern building?

We agree with you on the outdoor unit location on the roof or balcony, and run the copper pipes and electrical cables through the building in an orderly and safe way.

Will north Jeddah's intense heat affect the room's temperature stability?

Good insulation, a tightly sealed door and a strong condenser ensure temperature stability even in extreme heat, which is why we choose panel quality carefully.

Will the rooftop condenser need frequent cleaning from dust and debris?

Yes, outdoor units on rooftops gather dust quickly in Jeddah. We recommend periodic condenser cleaning, which is part of our maintenance service.
