Who needs a new cold room?

  1. 1

Restaurant or bakery expanding its store

Your current storage cannot hold the quantities you need, or you are relying on domestic fridges that are not up to the job. A purpose-built cold room keeps ingredients at a steady temperature and cuts waste caused by temperature swings.

  2. 2

Pharmacy or clinic needing medical storage

Medicines, vaccines and sensitive medical supplies need a temperature that does not shift when the door opens or when Jeddah's summer heat peaks. We build the room to suit that use and choose the condensing unit after the site survey.

  3. 3

Warehouse or grocery starting from scratch

You are fitting out your premises and want a cold room built in from the start, or you want to convert part of a warehouse into one. The site, the daily stock volume and how often the door opens all shape the right specification, and we work that out with you at the survey.

Who it's for

  • Opening a bakery and need ingredient storage

We survey your allocated space and build a cold room sized to your daily production volume, from insulated panels to the temperature controller.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey

The technician visits, measures the available space and asks about your stock type, quantities and daily use to set the room dimensions and the capacity the unit needs.

  2. 2

    Panels and door

We fit the insulated wall and ceiling panels and seal every joint, then hang the cold room door in its frame and check that the seal presses evenly on all four sides.

  3. 3

    Cooling unit and pipework

We mount the condensing unit where it has enough air, fit the evaporator inside the room, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, fully insulated to reduce heat gain.

  4. 4

    Vacuum, start-up, handover

We vacuum the copper line and test joints before starting the unit, then set the temperature controller and confirm the room reaches the target temperature before handing over.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Thaghr is a mixed residential and commercial zone with food shops and small warehouses, and buildings are typically mid-rise with shops on the lower floors. Intense southern heat and coastal humidity stress cooling units, especially small shops that face the street with doors open all day, so we choose strong-insulated panels and properly sized units, and route condensate drainage away from damp foundations.

Al Thaghr lies in south Jeddah, a mixed residential and commercial zone near the waterfront.

Cold rooms here are typically small to medium, 3 to 15 cubic metres, fitted into food shops or bakeries because of limited shop floor space.

The AC setup in Al Thaghr

  1. 1

Small to medium cold room with unit rated for high heat

Small shops and bakeries in Al Thaghr need compact rooms, but with units powerful enough to resist southern heat and humidity.

  2. 2

Tight door with strong seal for open-front shops

Street-facing shops need an extra-tight door to cut cold-air loss during repeated opening and closing.

  3. 3

Double protection for outdoor unit against humidity

Al Thaghr's waterfront location and damp foundations demand an outdoor unit with heavy-duty rust and corrosion coating.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Thaghr

  1. 1

Identify the best spot inside the shop or bakery

Pick a rear or upper spot if possible, away from the front entrance, to avoid blocking sales space and customer flow.

  2. 2

Tell us about ground moisture and water

If the site is damp or prone to water seepage, tell us beforehand so we pick a safe outdoor unit location and plan condensate drainage carefully.

  3. 3

Provide a nearby safe electrical supply

Ensure a strong socket near the room location, and let us know if old wiring may need maintenance before installation.

FAQ

Questions about Cold room installation

How is the right cold room size worked out?

Size depends on the type and quantity of stock, how often fresh goods come in and how many times the door opens each day. These factors together set the dimensions and the cooling unit capacity needed, which is why we do not suggest a size before the site visit.

Where does the condensing unit go in a restaurant or warehouse?

The condensing unit needs enough air around it, distance from heat sources and a spot a technician can reach for servicing. We decide the best location at the site survey based on the building layout and how the space is used.

What happens to my stock if the power to the room cuts out?

A well-insulated room with a tight door holds its cold for a limited time if the door stays shut, and longer the thicker the insulation and the better the seal. So we choose the panel thickness and the door seal with care, and set the controller to raise an alarm when the temperature rises, so you can act before stock spoils.

What is the difference between this room and a freezer room?

A chiller room works above freezing and suits vegetables, medicines, dairy and baked goods. A freezer room works below freezing and needs thicker insulation, an insulated floor, a heated door frame and a defrost system. If you need freezing or a combined room, we offer that as a dedicated service.

Can a cold room be installed in a rented space without major structural changes?

In most cases yes. Insulated panels are assembled inside the existing space without demolition or construction work, and the condensing unit is fixed in a suitable spot the technician identifies at the survey. Ceiling type and building ventilation may affect the details, and we confirm those after seeing the site.

My shop is small and cramped, how do you install a cold room without blocking the front space?

We assess the actual space and may place the room towards the rear or upper area based on expected load, and the outdoor unit goes on the exterior wall or roof to free up interior space.

It is very hot here and the door is often open, will the room stay cold?

We choose a unit with capacity to handle repeated door openings in high heat, fit a tight door with a strong seal, and the thermostat auto-restarts quickly when temperature rises.

Humidity is high and the foundation is damp, how do you protect the outdoor unit and drainage?

We choose an outdoor unit with rust and corrosion protection, mount it on a high dry spot away from ground moisture, and direct condensate drainage far from damp foundations.

My bakery needs cooling overnight, can the room run unattended?

Yes, the thermostat monitors temperature automatically and runs the unit as needed day and night, but we recommend regular checks of condensate drainage and door seal integrity.
