Who needs a specialist freezer room?

  1. 1

    Stock that needs sub-zero cold

Meat, poultry, fish and ice cream spoil if the temperature rises even briefly above the required level. A freezer room is built to hold that level continuously, not simply to cool.

  2. 2

    One room, two temperature zones

Large restaurants and hotels usually need a chiller section and a freezer section side by side. We build both wings with separate insulation, independent refrigeration units and an insulated inner door, so neither zone affects the other's temperature.

  3. 3

    Expanding an existing facility

If your current cold room no longer holds all your stock, or you need to add a freezer section beside it, we survey the site and propose the most practical way to expand with as little disruption to your operation as possible.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey

We visit the site, learn the stock type and required temperature, measure the available space, and decide the right insulation thickness and refrigeration system from what we find.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We draw the room layout including pipe and cable routes, then have the panels, doors and equipment ready before installation begins.

  3. 3

    Installation and connection

We fit the panels, insulated floor and door, then run and insulate the copper pipes, vacuum the line and pressure-test it before starting the system. Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints where the layout calls for it.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the system and watch the room reach its target temperature, confirm the defrost cycle works and the door seals properly, then explain the controls to the person responsible for the facility.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Gharbiyah is a modern district with relatively large residential and commercial buildings and wide outdoor spaces, allowing cold rooms to be placed in basements and dedicated stores without straining living space. Large hotels and restaurants here need bigger multi-zone units, whilst smaller shops need compact systems. The inland location reduces salt humidity, but intense summer heat demands a powerful cooling system and balanced insulation.

Al Gharbiyah is in north Jeddah, a modern district of large commercial and residential buildings with regular outdoor space.

Most large hotels and restaurants here choose multi-zone high-capacity rooms with precise temperature control to cover diverse storage needs.

The AC setup in Al Gharbiyah

  1. 1

Multi-zone system for large hotels and restaurants

Large hotels and restaurants in Al Gharbiyah benefit from multi-zone systems with one or more cooling units, allowing different temperatures for each room.

  2. 2

    Single large-capacity room for warehouses

Large shops and outlets choose a single high-capacity room with frost-resistant flooring and the ability to hold substantial stock.

  3. 3

Upgraded condenser unit for extreme heat

The intense heat in Al Gharbiyah requires high-capacity condensers and enhanced ventilation, and we usually choose a shaded location or add extra sun protection.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Gharbiyah

  1. 1

Map out the full storage and building plan

Before the visit, send us a sketch or photo showing the dimensions of the storage or basement, including columns and partitions.

  2. 2

Identify any additional electrical circuits needed

If the room is very large, a new electrical circuit may be needed. Check with an electrician if this is possible before the visit.

  3. 3

Confirm the condenser location is obstacle-free

Choose an outdoor location for the unit away from main corridors, windows and doors, and confirm the area is clear before the visit day.

FAQ

Questions about Cold & freezer room installation

Why does a freezer room need an insulated floor when a chiller often does not?

At sub-zero temperatures the moisture held in a concrete slab freezes and expands, cracking tiles and lifting bases over time. A chiller room operates above freezing, so ice crystals do not form in the slab. A freezer room therefore requires insulated panels under the floor together with a vapour barrier that blocks rising ground heat and protects the structure over the long term.

What is the difference between electric defrost and other types?

Electric defrost uses heating elements fixed inside the evaporator coil; they warm the coil directly and melt frost build-up. Hot-gas defrost instead redirects warm refrigerant from the compressor back through the same coil. The choice between the two depends on room size, the required number of cycles and the type of goods stored; the site survey determines which method suits each installation.

Can two zones at different temperatures share the same footprint?

Yes. A partition of insulated panels separates the space, with each side using a panel thickness matched to its required temperature differential. Each zone has its own refrigeration unit and a door with a heated frame to prevent condensation. This arrangement is widely used in meat and fish facilities that need a chiller zone for short-term stock and a freezer zone for longer storage. The final design depends on the available floor area and the heat load of each section.

Does the position of the condensing unit affect how the freezer room performs?

Position has a direct effect. The condensing unit needs clean air and adequate flow to reject heat; if it is placed in a confined space or near heat sources the condensing pressure rises and the compressor works harder. In Jeddah, outdoor air also carries salt and dust that accumulate on the condenser coil over time. The site survey identifies the best location and the copper-pipe route, keeping each Mueller copper pipe run within thirty metres without welded joints.

The hotel needs two separate freezer rooms, can we run a unified system?

Yes, we can install two or more rooms on a single cooling unit or separate units depending on location and space. Send us the requirements on WhatsApp.

The outdoor spaces are large here, where is best to place the condenser unit?

The wide spaces in Al Gharbiyah offer many options. We choose a location away from poor ventilation and direct heat, usually at the back or far side from the main facade.

Al Gharbiyah's summer heat is very intense, do we need extra cooling?

Yes, we select higher-capacity cooling units and use reinforced insulation. We also advise against frequent door openings and placing the room away from full-sun exposure.

What electrical capacity does a large room need?

It depends on the room capacity and unit type. Before the visit, tell us your main electrical panel capacity in amps, and the technicians will determine the exact requirement.
