When your display fridge needs attention

  1. 1

    Glass fogs or sweats

In Jeddah's humid air and air-conditioned shops, moisture collects on the door glass or thick frost builds up. The cause is usually the door frame heater resistance or the door seal; the site decides which.

  2. 2

    Stock spoiling or uneven temperatures

If upper shelves are warmer than lower ones, or open multideck zones read outside the required range, a fan fault or blocked cold-air path is likely. We measure shelf temperatures along the cabinet and find where the fault lies.

  3. 3

Hot condenser in a poorly cooled shop

A display cabinet throws a lot of heat into the shop floor. When the shop's cooling is insufficient, the condenser air temperature rises, the compressor works harder and the cabinet loses its chill. The fix starts with assessing the cabinet's location and the ventilation around it.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp a photo of the cabinet, your district and a brief description of the problem; the team can prepare the right tools before the visit.

  2. 2

    Site survey and measurement

The technician measures shelf temperatures, inspects the condenser, fans, air curtain and door seals, and reviews the ventilation around the cabinet before touching anything.

  3. 3

    Diagnosis and explanation

After measuring we tell you exactly what is wrong and what needs to be done, and you approve the work before the technician starts.

  4. 4

    Repair and verify

We fix the fault, then re-measure shelf temperatures and verify the air curtain, lighting and fans before leaving the shop.

What sets this district apart

Al Asalah neighbourhoods house modern shops and medium-sized supermarkets with open display areas and central ventilation. Display units here run at high load all day because of steady foot traffic and intense summer heat, so any weakness in the air curtain or blockage in the condenser fans leads to stock loss. Regular thorough checks are critical because even a few hours of downtime costs the shop both stock and reputation.

Al Asalah sits in north Jeddah, a modern neighbourhood district with retail shops and supermarkets with central air handling.

Most display units here are built into shop counters with high electrical demand and copper piping tied into the central air system.

The AC setup in Al Asalah

  1. 1

Display units built into shop counters

Most display units in Al Asalah are securely mounted in wooden or metal counters with direct copper piping to the outdoor condenser.

  2. 2

Standalone display units with central condenser

Larger shops sometimes use standalone display units linked to a single central condenser serving multiple cabinets.

  3. 3

Electric air curtain for thermal isolation

All modern units feature an electric cold air curtain that maintains insulation and keeps the product display sharp and clear.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Asalah

  1. 1

Confirm the unit can be powered down briefly

Let us know if there is a best time during working hours when the unit can be safely powered down for inspection without stock loss.

  2. 2

Point out the outdoor condenser or piping location

If the condenser is on the shop roof or in a back room, tell us its location so we can inspect the piping and electrical connections.

  3. 3

Clear a small work space in front of the unit

We need adequate space in front of the unit to comfortably inspect the air curtain, shelves and temperatures, especially in a tight shop layout.

FAQ

Questions about Display fridges & chillers

Why does thick frost build up on open multideck shelves?

An open multideck relies on a cold air curtain to keep shop air out. If the fan weakens or nearby AC airflow deflects the curtain, shop humidity enters the cabinet and frost builds. We check fan speed, air curtain direction and temperature at several points along the cabinet to find exactly where the fault is.

Does shop temperature affect how the display fridge performs?

Yes, and in Jeddah this is more noticeable in summer when the heat load rises. The condenser rejects heat into shop air; when that air is warm, the compressor works harder and shelf temperatures rise. We assess the cabinet's position and its distance from AC supply diffusers as part of the survey.

The cabinet lighting is dim or flickering; is that something you handle?

Yes, cabinet lighting is part of the service. Internal lighting matters to how your product looks, and a wiring fault there can affect other circuits. We check the wiring and driver and replace the faulty component as part of the job.

My display fridge is an unfamiliar brand; can you still work on it?

Display cabinet faults are mostly common across brands: refrigeration circuit, fan, air curtain, door seal, frame heater. We diagnose by measurement, not by brand. If a replacement part is needed we tell you before going further and you decide.

Can a new display cabinet be installed in an existing shop?

Yes, but the site decides what is needed. We assess the electrical supply, drain route and cabinet position relative to AC diffusers before installation; where the cabinet sits affects the air curtain and the shop's overall cooling load. The survey sets out exactly what is required before any work begins.

How often should a display fridge be inspected to stay safe?

We recommend a full check every three months for a shop unit, and a quick monthly inspection of coils and fans if performance drops.

Does a tight shop space affect where we can place the display unit?

Al Asalah shops usually have adequate space, but we confirm airflow clearance round the unit and safe distance from the outdoor condenser or piping.

Does Jeddah's summer heat put strain on a display fridge?

Yes, high temperatures and coastal humidity increase the load on the condenser and fans, so we check coils and connections regularly to prevent breakdowns.

Is it safe if the display unit is tied to the shop's central ventilation?

It depends on the circuit design. We check that the central air does not disrupt the cold airflow inside the cabinet, and that electrical load is balanced between the main system and the unit.
