When your display fridge needs attention

  1. 1

    Glass fogs or sweats

In Jeddah's humid air and air-conditioned shops, moisture collects on the door glass or thick frost builds up. The cause is usually the door frame heater resistance or the door seal; the site decides which.

  2. 2

    Stock spoiling or uneven temperatures

If upper shelves are warmer than lower ones, or open multideck zones read outside the required range, a fan fault or blocked cold-air path is likely. We measure shelf temperatures along the cabinet and find where the fault lies.

  3. 3

Hot condenser in a poorly cooled shop

A display cabinet throws a lot of heat into the shop floor. When the shop's cooling is insufficient, the condenser air temperature rises, the compressor works harder and the cabinet loses its chill. The fix starts with assessing the cabinet's location and the ventilation around it.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp a photo of the cabinet, your district and a brief description of the problem; the team can prepare the right tools before the visit.

  2. 2

    Site survey and measurement

The technician measures shelf temperatures, inspects the condenser, fans, air curtain and door seals, and reviews the ventilation around the cabinet before touching anything.

  3. 3

    Diagnosis and explanation

After measuring we tell you exactly what is wrong and what needs to be done, and you approve the work before the technician starts.

  4. 4

    Repair and verify

We fix the fault, then re-measure shelf temperatures and verify the air curtain, lighting and fans before leaving the shop.

What sets this district apart

Al Marsa is a beachfront tourist and commercial area with small hotels, traditional restaurants and modern cafés with sea-facing open layouts. The very high humidity and salt spray from the sea cause faster corrosion of the fridge's metal and electrical parts, and salt buildup on the condenser greatly reduces cooling power. Display fridges here run at much higher capacity than in other areas because customers want chilled drinks all day long.

Al Marsa sits on Jeddah's southern coast, a tourist area with hotels, traditional restaurants and modern seafront cafés.

Most Al Marsa restaurants and cafés use smaller display fridges for ice and cold drinks, and many have under-mounted condensers because of space constraints.

The AC setup in Al Marsa

  1. 1

Small display fridges for drinks and cups

Small cafés and restaurants in Al Marsa use compact display fridges for drinks and juices, with limited storage space.

  2. 2

Ice display cases with under-mounted condensers

Ice-filling display cases in restaurants and cafés typically have the condenser mounted underneath to save horizontal space.

  3. 3

Open-top display cases without glass doors

Some cafés use open-top display cases without glass doors for easy ice and drink access, which increases the moisture entering the unit.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Marsa

  1. 1

    Prepare space around the fridge

In crowded restaurants, move boxes and chairs near the fridge so the team can reach all parts of the unit easily.

  2. 2

Tell us about any leaks or excess moisture

If you notice moisture around the fridge or water leaking, let us know before the visit because this may be the root cause.

  3. 3

Check the water drain beneath the fridge

Check that the drain hole underneath the fridge is not blocked by dust or salt buildup before the visit.

FAQ

Questions about Display fridges & chillers

Why does thick frost build up on open multideck shelves?

An open multideck relies on a cold air curtain to keep shop air out. If the fan weakens or nearby AC airflow deflects the curtain, shop humidity enters the cabinet and frost builds. We check fan speed, air curtain direction and temperature at several points along the cabinet to find exactly where the fault is.

Does shop temperature affect how the display fridge performs?

Yes, and in Jeddah this is more noticeable in summer when the heat load rises. The condenser rejects heat into shop air; when that air is warm, the compressor works harder and shelf temperatures rise. We assess the cabinet's position and its distance from AC supply diffusers as part of the survey.

The cabinet lighting is dim or flickering; is that something you handle?

Yes, cabinet lighting is part of the service. Internal lighting matters to how your product looks, and a wiring fault there can affect other circuits. We check the wiring and driver and replace the faulty component as part of the job.

My display fridge is an unfamiliar brand; can you still work on it?

Display cabinet faults are mostly common across brands: refrigeration circuit, fan, air curtain, door seal, frame heater. We diagnose by measurement, not by brand. If a replacement part is needed we tell you before going further and you decide.

Can a new display cabinet be installed in an existing shop?

Yes, but the site decides what is needed. We assess the electrical supply, drain route and cabinet position relative to AC diffusers before installation; where the cabinet sits affects the air curtain and the shop's overall cooling load. The survey sets out exactly what is required before any work begins.

Salt spray from the sea affects my café fridge, how do you handle it?

High salt content speeds up corrosion and rust on the condenser and wiring, so we clean the condenser carefully of salt deposits and suggest covering the unit with a protective cover during quiet periods.

My drink fridge is in a beachfront restaurant, can it handle that exposure?

Display fridges in beachfront locations need frequent servicing because of humidity and salt, so we recommend a maintenance contract every two months to prevent salt and dust buildup.

My fridge temperature drops slowly, is it because the café is busy with customers?

Frequent opening and closing in a busy café reduces efficiency, but in humid coastal areas, ice buildup on the evaporator coils is the main culprit, so we clean them regularly.

Does the high humidity affect my restaurant's electrical supply for the fridge?

Yes, high humidity and salt cause electrical connection problems, so we check the fridge cables and plugs and advise if you need a full electrical inspection.
