When your display fridge needs attention

  1. 1

    Glass fogs or sweats

In Jeddah's humid air and air-conditioned shops, moisture collects on the door glass or thick frost builds up. The cause is usually the door frame heater resistance or the door seal; the site decides which.

  2. 2

    Stock spoiling or uneven temperatures

If upper shelves are warmer than lower ones, or open multideck zones read outside the required range, a fan fault or blocked cold-air path is likely. We measure shelf temperatures along the cabinet and find where the fault lies.

  3. 3

Hot condenser in a poorly cooled shop

A display cabinet throws a lot of heat into the shop floor. When the shop's cooling is insufficient, the condenser air temperature rises, the compressor works harder and the cabinet loses its chill. The fix starts with assessing the cabinet's location and the ventilation around it.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp a photo of the cabinet, your district and a brief description of the problem; the team can prepare the right tools before the visit.

  2. 2

    Site survey and measurement

The technician measures shelf temperatures, inspects the condenser, fans, air curtain and door seals, and reviews the ventilation around the cabinet before touching anything.

  3. 3

    Diagnosis and explanation

After measuring we tell you exactly what is wrong and what needs to be done, and you approve the work before the technician starts.

  4. 4

    Repair and verify

We fix the fault, then re-measure shelf temperatures and verify the air curtain, lighting and fans before leaving the shop.

What sets this district apart

Al Shifa blends residential and small commercial areas with shops specialising in fresh produce and small supermarkets using display chillers to preserve fresh goods and dairy. The intense humidity and heat in south Jeddah speeds fresh-produce spoilage, so chillers must run continuously without breaks. Door seal faults and cold-air leaks are common here, raising temperatures and spoiling stock faster than expected.

Al Shifa is in south Jeddah, a mixed district of greengrocers and small supermarkets.

Small greengrocers typically use small to medium-capacity display units, with outdoor condensing units usually mounted on rear walls or shop storage areas.

The AC setup in Al Shifa

  1. 1

Small to medium display units for fresh produce

Greengrocers in Al Shifa use small units to display fresh goods and dairy in tight shop spaces.

  2. 2

    Outdoor units in dust-prone areas

Outdoor units sit near shop entrances or storage where produce dust builds up quickly.

  3. 3

    Systems with moisture-sensitive door seals

High humidity in Al Shifa speeds door seal deterioration, requiring regular checks and periodic seal replacement.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Shifa

  1. 1

Clear dust from around the outdoor unit

Before the visit, clear produce bags, fruit crates and debris from around the outdoor unit to aid access and cleaning.

  2. 2

Ensure the chiller can be switched off briefly for maintenance

Our team may need to disconnect power during full inspection. Arrange temporary storage for heat-sensitive products during maintenance.

  3. 3

Note any recent chiller problems or faults

Tell the team of any recent air leaks, temperature rises or unusual noise you have noticed, helping them diagnose problems quickly.

FAQ

Questions about Display fridges & chillers

Why does thick frost build up on open multideck shelves?

An open multideck relies on a cold air curtain to keep shop air out. If the fan weakens or nearby AC airflow deflects the curtain, shop humidity enters the cabinet and frost builds. We check fan speed, air curtain direction and temperature at several points along the cabinet to find exactly where the fault is.

Does shop temperature affect how the display fridge performs?

Yes, and in Jeddah this is more noticeable in summer when the heat load rises. The condenser rejects heat into shop air; when that air is warm, the compressor works harder and shelf temperatures rise. We assess the cabinet's position and its distance from AC supply diffusers as part of the survey.

The cabinet lighting is dim or flickering; is that something you handle?

Yes, cabinet lighting is part of the service. Internal lighting matters to how your product looks, and a wiring fault there can affect other circuits. We check the wiring and driver and replace the faulty component as part of the job.

My display fridge is an unfamiliar brand; can you still work on it?

Display cabinet faults are mostly common across brands: refrigeration circuit, fan, air curtain, door seal, frame heater. We diagnose by measurement, not by brand. If a replacement part is needed we tell you before going further and you decide.

Can a new display cabinet be installed in an existing shop?

Yes, but the site decides what is needed. We assess the electrical supply, drain route and cabinet position relative to AC diffusers before installation; where the cabinet sits affects the air curtain and the shop's overall cooling load. The survey sets out exactly what is required before any work begins.

The cabinet door seals leak cold air, how do we fix this?

Air leaks raise temperature and can damage the unit quickly. We inspect door seals and hinges, replacing any damaged seals to ensure a tight closure.

Fresh produce spoils quickly in our display chiller even though it feels cold, why?

Temperature swings and poor internal airflow can speed spoilage. We check air distribution and humidity levels, correcting any unevenness to protect product quality.

Dust from the produce shop builds up on the condenser very quickly, how do we manage this?

Produce dust clogs condenser vents and cuts cooling efficiency. We clean it regularly and may add an air filter to shield the unit from fine particles.

The chiller runs all the time and never stops, is that normal?

Continuous running signals a compressor issue, door seal fault or condenser blockage. We check all these, fixing the root cause to ensure the unit operates efficiently.
