When your fridge needs attention

  1. 1

Fridge not cooling or cooling poorly

Food does not stay cold, or the top compartment is fine and the bottom is not, or the reverse. The cause could be the thermostat, the fan or the compressor; only an on-site check will find the actual fault.

  2. 2

Frost building up or water leaking

A thick layer of ice on the inner wall, or puddles under the fridge every day, usually points to a fault in the defrost cycle or a blocked condensate drain. Jeddah's high humidity makes these faults worse if left.

  3. 3

Unusual noises or a worn door seal

A clicking or steady hum can come from the evaporator fan or from a compressor working harder than it should. A cracked or loose door seal lets warm air in constantly, straining the unit and raising your electricity bill without showing an obvious fault.

Who it's for

  • Your older fridge is making strange noises

We test the compressor and fan in place, assess the full condition of the unit, and tell you honestly whether repair is worthwhile or replacement saves more in the long run.

    Ask on WhatsApp
  • Your newer fridge has suddenly stopped cooling

We diagnose the fault on site and identify whether the thermostat, the cooling cycle or another component has failed, then carry out the repair in the same visit when possible.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp a description of the fault, a photo of the fridge's data plate and your district, so the technician arrives prepared with the most likely parts and tools.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the fridge where it stands: measures compressor performance, tests the thermostat, fan and defrost cycle, and identifies the actual part that has failed.

  3. 3

    Honest call, then your decision

We explain exactly what we found and weigh the repair cost against the age of the unit, so you decide with full information and no pressure from us.

  4. 4

    Repair and retest

We carry out the repair on site, then run the fridge and confirm the compartment temperature returns to the correct level before leaving your home.

What sets this district apart

Al Gharbiyah is a modern residential district with spacious villas and family flats, with reasonable building spacing and good natural airflow. The climate here is harsh due to coastal proximity, and high humidity accelerates corrosion of metal parts and interior coils in fridges. Water leaks, rust, and strange noises are common complaints here. Regular servicing and deep cleaning of outdoor coils and condensers are essential to maintain performance and reduce sudden faults.

Al Gharbiyah is in new north Jeddah, a modern residential area close to the coast with direct exposure to high coastal humidity.

Most fridges here are mid-to-premium models installed in enclosed or semi-enclosed kitchens with traditional designs.

The AC setup in Al Gharbiyah

  1. 1

Fridges in enclosed kitchens with limited ventilation

Enclosed kitchens in Al Gharbiyah limit air circulation around the fridge, increasing local humidity and reducing cooling efficiency.

  2. 2

    Condensers exposed to coastal humidity

Outdoor condensers in Al Gharbiyah are in open areas near the sea, exposed directly to humidity and salt that accelerate corrosion.

  3. 3

    Copper lines prone to oxidation

Copper lines between the indoor fridge and condenser oxidize quickly in the coastal environment, reducing refrigerant flow.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Gharbiyah

  1. 1

Clean the condenser of dust and salt before our visit

Sea salt and dust accumulate quickly on ventilation openings in Al Gharbiyah. Clean it with water or a soft brush before the visit.

  2. 2

Ensure the team can safely access the condenser

Condensers may be on roofs or in areas near water seepage, so ensure the path is safe and clear of hazards.

  3. 3

    Keep records of previous maintenance

If the fridge has been serviced before, tell us about any prior faults or repairs so we understand the unit's history better.

FAQ

Questions about Fridge & freezer service

My fridge cools at the top but the bottom drawer is warm; what causes that?

In fridges with a back-wall evaporator, the air-circulation fan may have stopped or be blocked by ice, so cold air reaches the top shelf but does not spread down. The thermostat position or a blocked air duct can also cause this. The technician identifies the real cause on site because the answer varies by model.

Does frost building up inside mean the fridge needs regassing?

Usually not. Frost build-up most often points to a fault in the automatic defrost cycle, such as the defrost heater, timer or thermal fuse, not a low refrigerant charge. A low charge shows as weak cooling and a hot compressor, not frost. The on-site check tells the difference clearly.

Do I need to empty the fridge before the technician arrives?

Many faults, including the fan, thermostat, drain and door seal, are fixed without emptying or moving the fridge. When a forced defrost is needed we ask you to move food off the shelves temporarily. We let you know this when we book the visit so you are ready.

When does replacing the fridge make more sense than repairing it?

There is no single rule that fits every unit, but we weigh the fridge's age, the cost and availability of the needed part, and the condition of the rest of the unit. If our technician judges that the repair cost does not justify the remaining life of the fridge, he says so clearly before any work begins.

Does Jeddah's intense heat affect how a home fridge performs?

Yes. A fridge is designed to work within a set ambient temperature range. When placed in a poorly ventilated kitchen or near a heat source, the compressor works harder than it was built for. This speeds up wear and raises electricity consumption. The technician checks the unit's position and the room ventilation as part of the diagnosis.

The high humidity here is causing rust on the condenser, how do you address this?

Coastal humidity speeds up corrosion. We clean the condenser thoroughly, inspect copper connections, and suggest a protective coating if needed to prevent future rust.

Does humidity affect the compressor itself?

Yes, high humidity can increase moisture in the refrigerant oil, weakening compressor performance. We inspect the compressor and lines for signs of corrosion and condensation.

My fridge is leaking reddish or brown water, what is this?

This is usually from rust in the drain channels or dirt and bacterial buildup in the drain pan due to high humidity. We clean it with a disinfectant and perform deep cleaning.

How often should I service the fridge annually here?

High humidity calls for servicing every three to four months. We recommend you clean the outdoor condenser yourself monthly to reduce dust and moisture buildup.
