When your fridge needs attention

  1. 1

Fridge not cooling or cooling poorly

Food does not stay cold, or the top compartment is fine and the bottom is not, or the reverse. The cause could be the thermostat, the fan or the compressor; only an on-site check will find the actual fault.

  2. 2

Frost building up or water leaking

A thick layer of ice on the inner wall, or puddles under the fridge every day, usually points to a fault in the defrost cycle or a blocked condensate drain. Jeddah's high humidity makes these faults worse if left.

  3. 3

Unusual noises or a worn door seal

A clicking or steady hum can come from the evaporator fan or from a compressor working harder than it should. A cracked or loose door seal lets warm air in constantly, straining the unit and raising your electricity bill without showing an obvious fault.

Who it's for

  • Your older fridge is making strange noises

We test the compressor and fan in place, assess the full condition of the unit, and tell you honestly whether repair is worthwhile or replacement saves more in the long run.

    Ask on WhatsApp
  • Your newer fridge has suddenly stopped cooling

We diagnose the fault on site and identify whether the thermostat, the cooling cycle or another component has failed, then carry out the repair in the same visit when possible.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp a description of the fault, a photo of the fridge's data plate and your district, so the technician arrives prepared with the most likely parts and tools.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the fridge where it stands: measures compressor performance, tests the thermostat, fan and defrost cycle, and identifies the actual part that has failed.

  3. 3

    Honest call, then your decision

We explain exactly what we found and weigh the repair cost against the age of the unit, so you decide with full information and no pressure from us.

  4. 4

    Repair and retest

We carry out the repair on site, then run the fridge and confirm the compartment temperature returns to the correct level before leaving your home.

What sets this district apart

Al Nuzha is a dense residential district in central Jeddah with multi-storey blocks and closely packed flats, so kitchens are smaller and fridges operate in tight spaces with poor natural ventilation. Coastal heat and humidity strain cooling systems in this environment, and refrigerant leaks, weak cooling, and strange compressor noises are recurring complaints. Coordinating the visit time with flat occupants is essential, as building access may require arrangement with the porter or management.

Al Nuzha is in central Jeddah and comprises dense multi-storey residential apartment blocks.

Most fridges here are medium-sized models suited to compact flats and tight kitchens, and condenser water leaks are very common complaints.

The AC setup in Al Nuzha

  1. 1

    Medium-sized fridges for compact flats

Most flats in Al Nuzha use medium-sized fridges designed to fit tight kitchens and limited space.

  2. 2

Top or bottom integrated freezer compartments

Fridges here typically have an integrated freezer compartment rather than a separate freezer to save space.

  3. 3

    Older fridges not yet replaced

Some flats still have older fridges from previous years requiring frequent periodic servicing.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Nuzha

  1. 1

Coordinate with the building porter or management

Inform the building porter or management of the visit time beforehand to allow the team to reach the flat easily.

  2. 2

Create minimal space around the fridge

In a tight kitchen, try to free even small space around the fridge to allow inspection of the condenser from the back.

  3. 3

    Check staircase and lift locations

Let us know if we should use the stairs or lift, and if the lift is very tight, we may need additional size details.

FAQ

Questions about Fridge & freezer service

My fridge cools at the top but the bottom drawer is warm; what causes that?

In fridges with a back-wall evaporator, the air-circulation fan may have stopped or be blocked by ice, so cold air reaches the top shelf but does not spread down. The thermostat position or a blocked air duct can also cause this. The technician identifies the real cause on site because the answer varies by model.

Does frost building up inside mean the fridge needs regassing?

Usually not. Frost build-up most often points to a fault in the automatic defrost cycle, such as the defrost heater, timer or thermal fuse, not a low refrigerant charge. A low charge shows as weak cooling and a hot compressor, not frost. The on-site check tells the difference clearly.

Do I need to empty the fridge before the technician arrives?

Many faults, including the fan, thermostat, drain and door seal, are fixed without emptying or moving the fridge. When a forced defrost is needed we ask you to move food off the shelves temporarily. We let you know this when we book the visit so you are ready.

When does replacing the fridge make more sense than repairing it?

There is no single rule that fits every unit, but we weigh the fridge's age, the cost and availability of the needed part, and the condition of the rest of the unit. If our technician judges that the repair cost does not justify the remaining life of the fridge, he says so clearly before any work begins.

Does Jeddah's intense heat affect how a home fridge performs?

Yes. A fridge is designed to work within a set ambient temperature range. When placed in a poorly ventilated kitchen or near a heat source, the compressor works harder than it was built for. This speeds up wear and raises electricity consumption. The technician checks the unit's position and the room ventilation as part of the diagnosis.

My kitchen is very small and the fridge medium-sized, does that cause problems?

If there is insufficient ventilation around the fridge, the unit works under higher pressure and the motor overheats, so regular condenser cleaning and leaving clearance helps.

The fridge leaks water from below and the kitchen is tight and humid, what is the fix?

High humidity and tight space increase drain blockage risk, and clearing the drain tube and removing clogs usually resolves it.

The building has certain access procedures, does that delay the visit?

We coordinate with you beforehand on the best visit time, and you inform the building porter so we can enter smoothly.

My fridge is ten years old, cooling weakens and it leaks, is repair worth it or should I replace?

At that age, if faults recur often, replacement is usually more economical than repeated repair, and our diagnosis clarifies the best option.
