When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Mawj is a relatively modern district with mid-size residential and commercial buildings, home to specialist clinics (dental, ophthalmic, dermatology, obstetrics) and large pharmacies needing fixed drug storage temperatures. Most buildings here do not need the large central systems of big hospitals, but intermediate solutions like small VRF or simple central systems for several rooms. High humidity and strong summer heat require good drainage and appropriately sized condensers.

Al Mawj lies in south Jeddah, a modern district with specialist clinics, pharmacies and dedicated treatment centres.

Specialist clinics and large pharmacies in Al Mawj typically use a small VRF system or multi-head split units to cover several rooms.

The AC setup in Al Mawj

  1. 1

    Small multi-room VRF system

Medium clinics in Al Mawj use a small VRF system distributing cooling to several rooms with independent control for each.

  2. 2

Separate split units for small rooms

Small clinics and pharmacies use separate split units per room or area (consulting, waiting, storage).

  3. 3

    Precise temperature control points

Medicine and sample storage rooms need precise thermostat control maintaining the set point within ±2°C.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Mawj

  1. 1

Get a layout sketch of rooms and equipment

Before the visit, ask for a sketch showing room count and use (consulting, treatment, medicine storage) and available outdoor space.

  2. 2

    Define temperature requirements precisely

Especially if the clinic stores medicines or samples, ask for required temperatures and acceptable tolerances.

  3. 3

Check outdoor unit location and electrical supply

Confirm a suitable, safe location for the outdoor unit and that electrical supply is adequate for the system's power rating.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

We have a small dental clinic, what cooling suits us?

Small dental clinics typically need separate split units per room (consulting, treatment, waiting) or a small VRF system distributing cooling to all rooms.

We have a large pharmacy storing temperature-sensitive medicines, how do you maintain fixed temperature?

We install a VRF system with precise temperature control in the medicine store, and add a smart control panel that monitors temperature and humidity with auto alerts if readings drift.

Al Mawj is very hot and humid, how does the system handle heat and moisture?

We select adequately sized condensers and site them with good external airflow, and ensure effective water drainage from evaporators to prevent moisture buildup.

Do you offer monthly or quarterly maintenance contracts for clinics?

Yes, we offer monthly and quarterly maintenance contracts to suit the clinic's needs, and recommend at least quarterly service in hot and humid areas.
