When you need a medical HVAC specialist

  1. 1

    Hospital or clinic under construction

The right design starts before any duct is installed, because ventilation and filtration needs differ from the surgical suite to the waiting area. An early survey saves costly alterations after the building is finished.

  2. 2

Departments reporting warm air or odours

In an existing medical building, weak cooling in one department or odours crossing into an adjacent area signals an imbalance in the air distribution or extraction system. Finding the cause needs measurement, not guesswork.

  3. 3

Maintenance contract for a running facility

A hospital does not close for equipment servicing. We schedule preventive maintenance visits department by department, coordinated with facility management, and carry out repairs with the smallest possible effect on daily operations.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Survey and requirements

We visit the facility, map the heat loads and air requirements for each department, and agree the duct routes before any design work begins.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We design the duct network and fabricate it in our own workshop to SMACNA specifications, and supply units from our authorised brands: Carrier, YORK, General, Midea, Gree and Smart Gold.

  3. 3

    Phased coordinated installation

In operating buildings we work with management to phase the installation so adjacent departments stay open, and control dust and noise away from patient areas.

  4. 4

    Commissioning and follow-up

We commission the systems, measure airflow in each department, and adjust the dampers until the design requirements are met, then hand over the facility with a maintenance plan.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Salihiyah is a relatively older residential area in east Jeddah with multi-storey buildings housing general clinics, government health centres, and small private clinics. Buildings are sometimes close-set with narrow courtyards, and roof space is limited for outdoor units, requiring intermediate solutions like simple central systems or multi-head split units in constrained spaces. Maintenance here needs special care because health centres depend on uninterrupted cooling during full operating hours.

Al Salihiyah lies in east Jeddah, a relatively older residential area with general clinics and both government and private health centres.

Health centres and clinics in Al Salihiyah typically use simple central systems or multi-head split units due to limited outdoor space.

The AC setup in Al Salihiyah

  1. 1

Simple central system with ceiling ducting

Small health centres in Al Salihiyah use a small chiller with metal ducting in suspended ceilings distributing cooling to consulting and waiting areas.

  2. 2

    Multi-head split units

If roofs or courtyards are very tight, we install multi-head split systems with one outdoor unit and several indoor units in different rooms.

  3. 3

Installation on side walls and balconies

Outdoor units are mounted on side walls or balconies when roof space is not available.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Salihiyah

  1. 1

Survey the building structure and ceiling

Before the visit, ask about ceiling thickness and capacity for ducting, and the condition of roofs and external walls.

  2. 2

    Identify available space and constraints

Ask about external space available (roof, balcony, external wall) and any architectural or legal constraints on installation.

  3. 3

Coordinate with centre management on installation timing

Confirm the centre agrees on installation and maintenance times that do not disrupt medical service.

FAQ

Questions about Hospital HVAC

How do ventilation needs differ across hospital departments?

Ventilation needs vary from one department to the next based on the activity in each area and the requirements set by the facility's designer and the site survey. Operating theatres need highly filtered, directionally controlled air, while patient rooms, corridors and administrative areas each carry different requirements. We build the duct network and select units from the facility's drawings and its specific requirements, not from general assumptions.

Can systems be maintained without stopping sensitive departments?

Yes, but it requires careful planning before the maintenance date. We agree with facility management on a schedule that names the section and the right time window, then isolate the target section using dampers and blanking plates without affecting adjacent departments. Corrective tasks such as replacing a capacitor or repairing a flare joint are carried out within the agreed time window.

What governs duct network design in a medical building?

Design is governed by the approved facility drawings and each department's requirements as defined by the site survey and the specialist designer. We fabricate ducts in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to project dimensions, and use Kimmco and Armaflex insulation with Foster sealants to control leakage. Distribution and pressure in each section follow the specifications drawn for that department individually.

Do you work with small clinics or only hospitals?

We work with medical facilities of all sizes, from a clinic in a residential district to a multi-storey medical complex. The size of the facility does not change the principle: the site survey is the starting point, and from it we determine unit types, duct dimensions and fresh-air requirements for each zone. Preventive and corrective maintenance contracts are available for clinics and hospitals alike.

We have a small government health centre in an older building, what suits us?

We recommend a simple central system with a small chiller and ceiling ducting, or multi-head split units if ceiling or roof space is tight.

The buildings here are old and roof space is tight, where do we place the outdoor unit?

We can mount outdoor units on high external walls or side balconies rather than the roof, or use multi-head systems with separate smaller outdoor units.

Does the building's age affect AC installation and ducting?

Yes, we survey the structure and ceilings before installation and carefully route ducting to avoid unnecessary reinforcement or building damage.

How often does a health centre need cleaning and servicing?

We recommend monthly cleaning and quarterly full servicing, with regular maintenance contracts to ensure uninterrupted operation.
