When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

  • Opening a new shop inside a mall

We design an independent unit for your space and install ductwork and condensate lines before finishing work so your opening is not delayed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Yaqoot is a relatively modern northern district hosting multi-storey malls and medium-sized shops in separate shopping centres. The spaces are large and ceilings high, but cooling runs intensely because doors cycle frequently during peak hours, and outdoor humidity rushes in fast. Central systems or banks of high-capacity outdoor units are the main choice, and duct and filter cleaning must happen weekly to stop performance drift.

Al Yaqoot lies in northern Jeddah, a modern shopping district of multi-storey malls and sprawling retail centres.

Most malls and retail centres here run high-capacity central systems, with banks of outdoor units on roofs or in expansive rear yards.

The AC setup in Al Yaqoot

  1. 1

Central system with multiple outdoor units

Large malls here use a central system with several high-capacity outdoor units on the roof, distributed across the mall's heat zones.

  2. 2

Ducts with large diameters for high volume

Distribution ducts are sized with large diameters to handle high air volumes and reach all mall sections evenly.

  3. 3

    Separate drainage for each zone

Drain pans are zoned or linked to robust drainage lines to prevent moisture pooling across different sections.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Yaqoot

  1. 1

Obtain the system schematic from mall management

Ask mall management for a copy of the central system schematic, outdoor unit locations and main duct routes.

  2. 2

Confirm team access to roof and internal passages

Ensure the team can reach the roof for the outdoor units and move through internal passages without disrupting shoppers.

  3. 3

Schedule maintenance away from peak shopping hours

Agree with management on an early morning, late evening or closure-day slot to minimise customer impact.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

How do you handle the constant door opening in our mall?

Proper central system design factors in heat loss from open doors and boosts cooling capacity accordingly. During maintenance, we check the balance of air distribution across sections to ensure rapid response to load shifts.

Can the system be serviced only during closing hours?

Yes, we agree the maintenance schedule in advance with management. We usually work in late evening or on closure days to keep the shoppers unaffected.

Outside heat and humidity affect our stock, how does the system protect it?

The central system regulates both temperature and humidity across the mall. Regular filter cleaning and periodic checks on thermostats and humidity sensors maintain stable conditions that protect the stock.

Our outdoor units are huge, does roof heat in summer affect their performance?

Yes, summer roofs reach extreme temperatures, which hampers the outdoor units' efficiency. We ensure adequate airflow around the units, and keep the outer coils regularly clean to reduce thermal stress.
