When you need a retail HVAC specialist

  1. 1

A new mall or shopping centre

A poor design from the start means cold zones next to stifling ones and endless tenant complaints. We study the heat load of each zone separately and choose the right unit type before the ceiling is built.

  2. 2

An existing shop with uneven cooling

The back of the shop is cold while the front near the door stays hot at peak hours. The cause is usually the air outlet layout or the unit size; a site survey identifies which and fixes the problem without replacing the whole system.

  3. 3

Condensate dripping on shelves or display

A single drip on stock or a glass display front damages the product and the shop's image. The cause is usually weak insulation, a blocked condensate line or an unlevel unit, all of which can be diagnosed and fixed in one visit.

Who it's for

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey and loads

We visit the site and map every heat source: entrances, lighting, expected crowd density and facade orientation, then size the units correctly for each section.

  2. 2

    Design and materials

We design the duct network in our own workshop from G90 galvanised sheet to dimensions that give even air distribution, and select units from brands we distribute such as Carrier, YORK and Gree.

  3. 3

    Installation coordinated on site

We coordinate installation with the project programme so ductwork does not delay finishing trades, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints to reduce potential leak points.

  4. 4

    Start-up and maintenance contract

We start up the system and check air distribution in every section, then set a preventive and corrective maintenance schedule timed so work never overlaps with the shop's trading hours.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Ghulail is a modest residential and craft zone, with shops smaller than Al Rawabi, mostly small retail or craft workshops without large glass fronts. The heat load is lighter because of the smaller footprint and natural insulation from materials or earthen walls in some older buildings. Split and window units suffice here, and installation flexibility matters because owners often prefer not to drill walls or alter the structure.

Ghulail sits in south Jeddah, a modest residential and craft zone with small shops and workshops.

Most craft and small shops in Ghulail use a single split or window unit because of the compact size and reluctance to alter the structure significantly.

The AC setup in Ghulail

  1. 1

Single split unit for compact shops

Small shops and workshops in Ghulail need just one split unit, economical and flexible for both installation and maintenance.

  2. 2

Window unit for very tight spaces

Some very small workshops may prefer a traditional window unit if a suitable window exists, for cost and installation savings.

  3. 3

    Manual thermostat for cost control

Small workshops often choose a basic manual thermostat to control temperature and reduce consumption.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Ghulail

  1. 1

Measure the space and height precisely

Tell us the exact floor area, height and existing windows so we can select the right unit size.

  2. 2

Identify the outdoor unit mounting point

Check if the outdoor unit can be mounted on the rear or side wall away from the street and pedestrians.

  3. 3

Tell us about obstacles in the walls

If there are electrical wires or water pipes in the walls, tell us before the visit so we avoid damaging them during drilling.

FAQ

Questions about Mall & retail HVAC

How do you handle doors that open onto the street all day?

An open door pushes in hot humid air and spikes the heat load suddenly. We include that load in the design and direct a supply outlet above the entrance to form an air barrier that reduces mixing. The survey confirms which arrangement suits each specific doorway.

Do you install separate units for each mall tenant?

Yes. A separate unit per tenant means each shop controls its own cooling and a fault in one unit does not affect the neighbour. It also makes consumption readings straightforward and makes maintenance responsibility clear for each party.

Why do you prefer rooftop packaged units for malls?

A rooftop packaged unit keeps the condenser and evaporator in one casing above the roof, freeing every inch of shop floor from outdoor units and shortening the duct run. Maintenance happens on the roof without entering the shop, which fits scheduling work outside trading hours.

How do you handle Jeddah's heat and its effect on rooftop units?

Rooftop units in Jeddah work in hot, salty and dusty air that strains the condenser and speeds fin corrosion. We specify units with corrosion-resistant coatings and include coil cleaning and compressor and condenser checks in the preventive schedule of every maintenance contract.

Does air distribution design differ between a small shop and a large mall?

The site survey decides. A small shop may need only a concealed unit with directional grilles, while a mall requires a duct network with dampers zoned by area. In both cases the positions of lighting, visitor traffic and entry doors are recorded before supply outlets are placed.

My workshop is small, is a single split sufficient or do I need a central system?

For small workshops and tight shops, a single split or window unit usually suffices. We visit first to assess the space size and heat load.

The building is old with thick walls, will installation require extensive drilling?

Yes, thick walls need careful drilling. We use specialist drills and avoid wiring and pipes inside the walls. We'll discuss this before we start.

Does a workshop heater affect the AC performance?

If the heater runs alongside the AC, it raises the load. It's best to turn the heater off in warm season or use a smart thermostat.

My workshop's power bills are high, will a new AC system reduce them?

A modern, efficient AC system will reduce power consumption noticeably. We'll choose a high-efficiency unit and recommend regular maintenance to keep it running well.
