When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Ma'rifah is a relatively modern residential district with mid-rise apartment blocks and some large villas, most windows fitted with modern insulated glazing. Desert dust accumulates quickly on outdoor units and openings, and humidity raises the risk of mould and corrosion, so we focus on checking wall strength and sealing every gap with moisture and salt-resistant materials.

Al Ma'rifah sits in northern Jeddah, a developed residential district with modern apartment blocks and villas set further apart with more space.

Window units in Al Ma'rifah commonly face south and west, exposing them to strong sun and seasonal sand drift from the desert.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

Desert dust gets everywhere, how do you stop it entering around the window unit?

We fit high-quality weatherstripping around every frame edge with dust-resistant sealant, and we clean the drainage openings regularly to prevent blockage.

The sun is very strong here, does it affect the outdoor unit?

Yes, we choose a location with partial shade if possible, and use high-grade metal brackets that withstand thermal expansion and contraction.

High humidity and lots of dust here, does this shorten the unit's life?

Good drainage and strong sealing protect the unit from humidity, salt and dust. We ensure the frame and materials can withstand the harsh environment.

The walls in newer villas are strong, but do they need extra metal bracing?

We assess wall and frame strength first. If the wall is robust enough, extra bracing may not be needed, but we add it precautionally for safety.
