When a window unit is the right choice

  1. 1

A room with no outdoor unit space

Some rooms have no wall facing a suitable space for an outdoor unit. A window AC is the practical answer: one unit in the opening cools the room and expels heat directly outside.

  2. 2

An annex, staff housing or storeroom

Annexes, staff rooms and warehouses need real cooling without the cost of long copper and cable runs. A window unit suits these spaces well when the right opening exists or can be made.

  3. 3

An existing window of the right size

When a wall already has a window opening that matches the unit you have chosen, the frame fits straight in without cutting new concrete. We confirm at the survey that the opening suits the unit and the wall carries the load.

Who it's for

  • Need to cool a maid's room or home annex

We survey the opening or proposed wall in the annex, fit the unit in a secure frame and seal every gap so no hot humid air enters the space.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp us a photo of the opening or the proposed wall and your district, so the technician arrives with the right frame and fixings.

  2. 2

    Site survey

On site the technician measures the opening, checks the wall, confirms there is a suitable power point near the unit, and agrees with you on any changes needed before starting.

  3. 3

    Fit and seal

We fit the frame level, set the unit with the correct outward tilt, then seal every gap around the frame so no hot air, dust or humidity enters.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the unit, check the cooling and confirm condensate flows outward, then leave the space clean and show you how to clean the filter.

What sets this district apart

Al Muhammar is a mixed-size residential area with old villas, residential flats and small buildings, plus some commercial properties. Frames are highly varied: old and new, wooden and aluminium. The location near the coast means high humidity and constant salt in the air, accelerating corrosion of any poorly protected frame. Gaps around frames must be sealed with salt and moisture-resistant materials, and drainage must be clear and away from the building foundation and neighbouring properties.

Al Muhammar is in east Jeddah, a mixed residential and commercial area near the coast with buildings of varied ages and types.

Window frames in Al Muhammar are highly varied, and outdoor units often mount on walls exposed to salty humid air, requiring regular inspection and cleaning.

The AC setup in Al Muhammar

  1. 1

    Window AC with varied-age frames

Al Muhammar contains old and new frames of multiple types, each needing individual inspection and suitable mounting approach.

  2. 2

Mounting on walls exposed to salty air

Most Al Muhammar outdoor units mount on side or outer walls directly exposed to salty humid air, requiring extra protection.

  3. 3

Complex drainage system protecting adjacent properties

Mixed commercial and residential areas need precise drainage that does not affect adjacent properties or shared spaces.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Muhammar

  1. 1

    Verify available mounting points

Inspect walls and frames around windows and identify the strongest possible mounting points, especially if the area experiences strong winds.

  2. 2

    Agree drainage direction with neighbours

If there are other properties nearby, agree the drainage direction with neighbours before the visit to avoid disputes or problems.

  3. 3

Clear obstacles around the exterior window

Ensure the exterior area around the window is clear of branches, plants and other objects to ensure safe access and correct installation.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC installation

Can you cut a new opening in the wall if there is none?

Yes, if no suitable opening exists we can cut one. At the survey we check the wall type and thickness and look for columns or cables that might be in the way, then agree the best position with you before any cutting begins.

Why does the outward tilt matter on a window unit?

A window unit produces condensate on its indoor side throughout operation. If the unit sits level or tilts inward, water pools in the base and runs down the inside wall. A slight outward tilt sends that water to the back of the unit and out, away from the wall and furniture.

How do you seal the gaps around the frame given Jeddah's climate?

Jeddah combines high heat, humidity and salty sea air, so sealing materials must hold up in those conditions. We use insulating and sealing materials suited to the opening and wall type, and the survey determines the right choice based on the gap size and wall construction.

Does a window unit need its own power point?

A window unit draws a high current at start-up, and sharing a socket with other appliances strains the wiring and trips the breaker. The technician checks at the survey that a suitable socket is close to the unit position, and if one is not there we explain what is needed before installation proceeds.

Does the weight of a window unit affect how it is fixed?

Yes, the unit's weight directly affects how the frame is fixed and what support is needed. A concrete wall requires different treatment from a brick wall, and a wide opening needs more support than a narrow one. The technician decides at the survey what fixing method and materials suit the unit and the wall.

Salt and humidity seep everywhere, how do you protect the AC?

We use salt and moisture-resistant foam and silicone, and clean the outdoor unit and filters every two months minimum. We seal all gaps and joints tightly.

A commercial property is next to my flat, where does the condensate go?

We coordinate with you to choose a drainage direction that does not affect the adjacent property. In most cases we use a small tube to channel water away from the shared facade.

My flat is near the car park, does this affect installation?

There may be heat reflections from tarmac affecting efficiency. We mount the unit at an angle reducing direct exposure to reflected heat, and recommend regular filter cleaning.

Strong winds blow at my window, will the AC stay secure?

We inspect frame and wall strength and select strong fixings that withstand wind pressure. We use bolts and brackets to high industrial standards to ensure safety even in strong winds.
