When your AC needs a deep clean
- 1
Musty smell when you switch on
Jeddah's high humidity creates ideal conditions for mould on the drain pan and evaporator fins. If you notice a sharp smell the moment the unit starts, the most common cause is mould built up inside the indoor unit.
- 2
Weak cooling from a working unit
A thin layer of dust on the evaporator fins reduces heat transfer noticeably. A dirty blower wheel cuts airflow without any fault in the compressor or refrigerant. Cleaning restores the unit's performance to what it was.
- 3
A unit that has not been cleaned in a long time
Jeddah's heavy dust and salt-laden sea air build up on the outdoor coil and block airflow paths. The unit runs but the compressor works harder than it should; cleaning both coils together reduces that load.

What sets this district apart
Al Wafa is a developing residential district with modern villas and towers, but it sits between desert and commercial areas, exposing it to air currents carrying sand, dust and humidity from the sea and open land. This means sand and mould accumulate on the coil and blower wheel together faster than in building-enclosed districts. Cleaning here focuses on removing sand, dust and mould from the coil, blower wheel and drain.
Al Wafa is a modern residential district east of Jeddah situated between desert and commercial areas, marked by mixed villas and residential towers with relative outdoor space.
Most units here are separate split systems in villas and flats, with outdoor units on roofs and open facades exposed to wind and sand.

FAQ
Questions about AC cleaning
Will the wash water stain my furniture or ceiling?
We fix a sealed protective bag under the indoor unit before any pressure washing begins. The bag collects all the wash water and channels it away from your wall and furniture. This step is not optional in how we work.
Will the mould smell disappear completely after cleaning?
In most cases the smell goes once the evaporator, blower wheel and drain pan are washed with a sanitising agent. If the smell comes from very old build-up or a drain line problem, we diagnose the cause on site and tell you exactly what is needed.
How does Jeddah's dust and salty air affect the outdoor coil?
Heavy dust and salt carried by sea air collect between the condenser fins and block airflow. This raises condensing pressure and makes the compressor work harder than it was designed to. Cleaning the outdoor coil regularly keeps the compressor performing as it should and extends its life.
Can you clean a window unit the same way?
Yes, a window unit needs similar work: filter, evaporator, blower wheel and drain pan, plus the outdoor coil built into the same casing. The difference is in how it is opened and accessed, which the technician works out after seeing where the unit is installed.
Can cleaning fix water dripping from the indoor unit?
Dripping usually comes from a blocked drain pan or a drain line that does not slope correctly. Cleaning the pan and checking that the line has the right fall resolves the problem in many cases. If the cause is different, the technician diagnoses it on site and explains exactly what is needed.
Sand and humidity combined make the AC worse, how do you handle both?
Yes, sand and humidity form thick layers on the coil that reduce cooling. We clean thoroughly to remove both sand and mould together, recommending cleaning every two months in Al Wafa.
My outdoor unit sits on an open roof, does it need extra checks?
Yes, open roofs in Al Wafa face direct sand and wind exposure. We blow out sand with compressed air and check wiring for electrical safety after cleaning.
Does the drain get blocked by sand and mould together in Al Wafa?
Yes, sand mixes with mould in the drain pan and clogs it. We clean it carefully and recommend drain cleaning every two months.
Is outdoor unit cleaning also necessary in Al Wafa?
Yes, the outdoor unit in Al Wafa accumulates sand and dust quickly, we recommend cleaning it when cleaning the indoor unit to maintain efficiency.
