When to book a technician visit

  1. 1

AC that no longer cools properly

The unit runs but the air is barely cool, you hear knocking from the indoor head, or you find water on the wall. The technician brings pressure gauges and electrical test tools and finds the cause before starting any repair.

  2. 2

A fridge or cold room in your shop

The fridge does not hold temperature, or the compressor runs without cycling off. Stock loss starts before you notice the fault. The technician comes to your shop, checks the circuit and tells you the real condition of the unit.

  3. 3

A sudden fault with no obvious cause

The AC trips the breaker, runs without cooling, or gives off a smell. These symptoms can have different causes. The technician checks the board, compressor, capacitor and coil in the right order and explains what he finds.

    On-site inspection

The technician arrives with pressure gauges and electrical test tools, inspects the unit in the correct sequence in front of you and does not start any work until the inspection is complete.

  3. 3

    Explain and agree next step

After the inspection the technician explains the real cause and what the repair needs, then starts work only after you agree on what will be done.

  4. 4

    Repair and run test

What sets this district apart

Al Shama'il is a modern, carefully planned district with detached villas and residential complexes spaced out along wide, orderly streets, making outdoor units accessible from safe rooftops or neat gardens. The spacing between buildings reduces humidity and mould, but direct exposure to intense heat on open roofs increases pressure on the compressor and fans during the long summer season.

Al Shama'il lies in north-east Jeddah, a modern, well-planned district of orderly villas and residential complexes.

Most villas and apartment blocks here have standard split units or central AC with ceiling-ducted air distribution systems.

The AC setup in Al Shama'il

  1. 1

Separate split unit per main room

Most modern villas and apartment blocks here use separate split units per bedroom or living area, with outdoor units on the roof.

  2. 2

Central AC system with ceiling ducts

Several modern residential complexes here have central AC systems distributing cooled air through ducts hidden in dropped ceilings.

  3. 3

    Outdoor units on regular rooftops

Outdoor units here are mounted on relatively safe, flat roofs, but without shade from direct summer sun.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Shama'il

  1. 1

    Verify safe roof access

Before the visit, confirm the roof is safe and has railings or protection around its edges for the technician's safety.

  2. 2

Tell us the exact outdoor unit location

If the outdoor unit is in a specific corner or by the water tank, tell us its exact location before the appointment.

  3. 3

Ensure power and water supply are ready

Check that electrical power is available near the unit and that the water drainage point is safe and away from living areas.

FAQ

Questions about HVAC & refrigeration technician

What does the technician bring on the visit?

The technician brings pressure gauges to check the refrigeration cycle, electrical meters to test the capacitor, relay and control board, and leak detection and flare joint tools. The exact kit depends on the fault description you give when you book.

Can the technician check the AC and the fridge in the same visit?

Yes. The technician covers both air conditioning and refrigeration, so if you have a faulty AC and a commercial fridge or cold unit at the same location he inspects both in one visit and explains the condition of each separately before any repair begins.

How does the technician explain the fault before any work begins?

The technician diagnoses the fault first, whether a failing capacitor, a deteriorated flare joint or a blocked drain line, then tells you what he found, what work is needed and which parts must be replaced. No work starts until you have approved what he has explained.

What happens if the repair needs a spare part?

After the inspection the technician names the part needed and explains why. If the part is available on site the repair is done in the same visit. If it has to be sourced first, he agrees a second visit with you. No replacement is started without your knowledge of what will be done.

Is the inspection for a split unit different from a ducted or cassette unit?

Yes. A split unit gives direct access to the coil, filter and flare joint. A ducted or cassette unit also needs the plenum, dampers and duct runs checked to confirm air is distributed correctly. The technician decides the inspection method after seeing the unit type and installation at your site.

My outdoor unit gets very hot in summer, is that normal?

Yes, intense heat and direct sun on an open roof raise the unit's temperature, but if it makes strange noises or cools poorly, we inspect it to find any faults in the compressor or fan.

How do you safely reach the outdoor unit on my roof?

If the roof is flat and safe with railings or protection, we access it easily and inspect the unit safely, but let us know before the visit if the roof is narrow or unsafe.

Does central AC need different maintenance than split units?

Yes, central AC requires periodic duct and main filter cleaning, while split units need only the evaporator coil and indoor blower cleaned regularly.

The wiring between my indoor and outdoor units is exposed to sun, does it need extra insulation?

Sun exposure gradually damages wire insulation, so we inspect the cables during maintenance and wrap any damaged section with extra thermal insulation to prevent electrical faults.
