Window AC repair

Window AC repair in Al Hazza'iyah

In Al Hazza'iyah in north-east Jeddah, window units suffer water drips and grinding noise because their heavy daily use in residential flats puts them under strain. Alrabih's team inspects the coil, condenser, drain and capacitor before deciding whether repair or replacement makes sense.

When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Al Hazza'iyah is a relatively modern residential district of multi-storey and small flats, and many residents favour window units because they are cheap to install and easy to move when relocating. But these units run long daily hours in the hot inland summer, which accelerates wear on the motor, compressor and condenser, leading to drips and noise. Repairing these faults needs careful inspection because some are simple and others signal the unit's end of life.

Al Hazza'iyah sits in north-east Jeddah, a relatively new residential district of small flats close to the main roads.

Window units are the dominant choice in these small flats because central AC is impractical, and the most common faults here are drips and noise from heavy daily use.

The AC setup in Al Hazza'iyah

  1. 1

Single window unit per small flat

Most small flats in Al Hazza'iyah have just one window unit, so it carries the entire cooling load for the whole flat.

  2. 2

    Installation without central ducts

There are no central ducts in these flats, so the window unit cools the front room directly, and back rooms rely on natural air circulation.

  3. 3

    Limited outdoor venting space

The outdoor part of the window unit protrudes minimally from the facade, and external airflow may be restricted by nearby buildings or trees.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Hazza'iyah

  1. 1

Clear any furniture blocking the window

Make sure there is clear space in front of the window unit and that furniture does not block the airflow in and out.

  2. 2

Show us where the drain exits outside

Tell us where the drain pipe exits on the outside, as external blockage is often the cause of drips.

  3. 3

Ensure safe access to the window from inside and out

If the flat is on a high floor, ensure there is a safe way to reach the outdoor part of the unit, whether via a balcony or secure ladder.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

My window unit drips water from the edge, does it need replacing?

Not necessarily. The drain may be blocked or the unit tilted wrongly from vibration. We inspect it first, then tell you whether repair is possible.

I live in a small flat with no balcony, how do you fit a window unit?

Window units mount directly into the window opening from both inside and out. We check that the frame is strong enough and the drain discharges safely to the outside.

Does the intense summer heat in Al Hazza'iyah cause faults faster?

Yes, the high inland heat increases the load on the motor and condenser, which speeds up wear and raises the risk of early drips and noise.

The wiring in my flat is old, does it affect the repair?

It may affect overall performance. We check the electrical connection, capacitor health and power supply before repair, because a weak capacitor or poor wiring causes repeated faults.
