When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Al Ruhaili is a developing district in the north-east of Jeddah, mixing modern apartment blocks with newer villas, and a number of flats here retain window AC units either to cut costs or for technical reasons. Sharp summer heat and dust storms put pressure on these units, causing coils and drains to clog quickly. Correct diagnosis separates a simple fault needing cleaning or a quick fix from a capacitor or compressor failure that needs unit replacement.

Al Ruhaili is a modern district in the north-east of Jeddah, marked by planned apartment blocks and spacious villas with orderly streets.

Window units here are mostly in smaller flats or as secondary systems, and the main faults relate to blocked drains and dust-clogged coils.

The AC setup in Al Ruhaili

  1. 1

Window units as secondary systems alongside split AC

Many flats in Al Ruhaili have a window unit in the bedroom and a split in the living area, so each needs separate maintenance.

  2. 2

Relatively new units with external drain lines

Most newer window units in Al Ruhaili have external drains, so the problem is often a channel clogged with dust and salt.

  3. 3

Medium-capacity units for small to mid-size flats

Small flats in Al Ruhaili need 1 to 1.25 horsepower units, which balance effective cooling with reasonable power consumption.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Ruhaili

  1. 1

Clean the outdoor grille before the visit

Dust builds up on the outdoor grille quickly in Al Ruhaili, so cleaning it before the team arrives speeds up inspection.

  2. 2

    Check the external drain line

Make sure the external drain pipe is not blocked or bent the wrong way before the visit time.

  3. 3

Stop the unit before the team arrives

Switch off the unit and cut its power before the team arrives to ensure safety and a quick start to inspection.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

My window AC is making a grinding noise, does that mean it is broken?

The noise might be from the blower wheel clogged with dust or a loose unit frame. We inspect it, identify the cause and fix it if possible without replacement.

The winds and dust in Al Ruhaili are strong, do they damage window units quickly?

Dust and wind clog the unit's coils quickly, so cleaning every two or three months keeps performance up and extends the unit's life.

Is it safe to install a new unit in an old window frame?

We inspect the frame, glass and seal before installation, and use tight sealing materials to ensure safety and efficiency.

What are typical repair costs?

Costs depend on the fault type and parts needed. Send a photo of the unit on WhatsApp and we will give you an accurate quote.
