When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Al Safwah is a relatively older district with mid-rise residential blocks and some ground-floor shops, and many residents prefer to keep their window units rather than switch to split systems for cost or habit. The common issues here are drainage pan overflow from a blocked outlet, motor noise after years of use, or loss of cooling without complete shutdown. Accurate diagnosis avoids the cost of needless replacement.

Al Safwah lies in east Jeddah, an older residential district with mid-rise blocks and ground-floor shops.

Most window units here are mounted in the front windows of flats and shops, many without a protective exterior guard.

The AC setup in Al Safwah

  1. 1

    Window units in front-facing windows

Most window units in Al Safwah are mounted in front façade windows of flats and shops, making maintenance straightforward.

  2. 2

    Units without exterior protective cage

Many units here lack an exterior protective cage around the condenser, exposing them directly to wind and dust.

  3. 3

Outdoor tilt may not be correctly set

Many window units installed years ago may have shifted in their outdoor tilt or were never set correctly, disrupting drainage.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Safwah

  1. 1

Confirm the window can be safely opened

Check that the window holding the unit opens easily and its frame is safe before the visit day.

  2. 2

Clear space around the indoor side

Move furniture or items away from the interior window to give the team clear access to the unit.

  3. 3

Check the outdoor casing for severe rust

Inspect the outdoor casing before the visit, as heavy rust may indicate that repair is not cost-effective.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

My window unit drips inside the wall, should I replace it?

Not necessarily. Often the drain pan is blocked with dust, or the unit's outer tilt is wrong. We diagnose first, as repair can cost far less than replacement.

The flats here are close together, can your team easily reach the outdoor parts?

Yes, first and second floor window units can be reached from inside the flat or with a short ladder. We confirm before the visit that the window is safe and can open.

Heat and humidity in the east may stress the motor more, is that true?

Yes, east Jeddah is hotter with more wind and dust exposure, so motors here work harder and dust builds up on the condenser faster, shortening its life.

My flat's old wiring is weak, does that affect the repair?

Weak power may be why cooling fails or the motor drops out. We check the connection, plug and circuit before starting, and advise on an electrician if needed.
