When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Al Widad is a close-built residential district with medium-sized flats relying heavily on older window units for main rooms. Dust from nearby roads and coastal humidity quickly affect the coil and condenser, and the drain clogs easily because water carries sediment and salt. On-site repair is usually cheaper and faster than planning replacement.

Al Widad is a high-density east residential district of mid-age flats, each holding one or more window units.

Most units mount in east or south-facing bedroom windows, draining directly to ground or external passages.

The AC setup in Al Widad

  1. 1

Window unit with no external drain piping

Most units here have no extended drain piping, with water running straight down the facade.

  2. 2

Various unit sizes across the district

Flats vary in size, so units range from 1 to 1.5 tons of cooling capacity.

  3. 3

Drains clogged with salt and sediment

Water absorbed from coastal air carries salt and sediment that quickly clog the drain and cause pooling.

Before the visit

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

My unit makes a grinding noise, must I replace it?

The noise usually comes from a dirty or loose blower, or bearings needing lubrication. We diagnose it exactly, clean it or fix the mounting, and if needed, we tell you the replacement cost.

The flat is on a high floor, can you safely reach my unit?

Yes, we work at various heights, but we need a safe access method like a stable balcony or proper safety equipment confirmed before the visit.

The road opposite my flat is very dusty, does this speed up unit deterioration?

Yes, road dust blocks the coil faster, reducing cooling and efficiency. We recommend coil cleaning every two to three months in such a location.

My flat's wiring is old, does it affect the window unit?

Yes, weak or improperly grounded wiring reduces voltage to the unit and causes poor performance. We check the connection and voltage during inspection.
