When your window unit needs attention
- 1
Weak cooling even on full power
The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.
- 2
Water leaking into the room
Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.
- 3
Loud noise or a fan that will not spin
Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.
Who it's for
Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor
We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.
Ask on WhatsAppYour shop's window unit runs but does not cool
We diagnose the coil, filter, capacitor and thermostat at your shop and carry out the repair needed to restore cooling with the least disruption to your business.

- Tilt and drain tray corrected
- Chassis rust report provided
How we work
How we work
- 1
Describe the fault
WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.
- 2
On-site diagnosis
The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.
- 3
Repair or replace call
If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.
- 4
Run test and handover
After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.
Real diagnosis or a quick guess?
| Alrabih | The usual way | |
|---|---|---|
| First step | Systematic check of each part | Replace the easiest part |
| Rust | Honest chassis assessment | Ignored until it worsens |
| Dripping | Tilt and tray checked first | Refrigerant added without diagnosis |
| Replace decision | Based on actual condition | May be rushed or delayed |
| Refrigerant type | Read from the unit nameplate | Wrong type may be added |

What sets this district apart
Al Thaghr is a relatively old coastal district with residential flats and commercial shops, and its proximity to the sea means the air is salt-laden. This accelerates rust on the condenser, motor and external case, causing faster deterioration than in inland areas. Added to that, high humidity and rapid temperature swings between inside and outside speed up mould and condensation. Repairing these units needs special attention to visible rust and corrosion before it spreads to vital parts.
Al Thaghr sits in south Jeddah directly on the sea, an older district of small flats and shops exposed to direct salt air.
Window units here develop surface rust on the condenser and outer case within just two or three years due to salt, which impacts performance and efficiency quickly.
The AC setup in Al Thaghr
- 1
Window unit exposed directly to salt air
Units here are mounted directly on sea-facing or sea-adjacent facades, so salt exposure is direct and rapid.
- 2
Condensers prone to rapid rust
The outdoor condenser is the first part exposed to salt, so it rusts faster than in any other Jeddah district.
- 3
Drains exposed to mould and moisture
External drain pipes collect water, salt and mould because of high humidity and temperature swings.
Before the visit
Before our visit in Al Thaghr
- 1
Inspect the outdoor part before we visit
Check for visible rust or damage on the outdoor casing and condenser, and tell us how much rust you see when you call.
- 2
Clear any obstructions around the outdoor unit
Make sure the condenser and outdoor parts are clear of wires and nearby objects so we can reach and fully inspect them.
- 3
Ensure safe access from inside and outside
If the flat is on a high floor, ensure there is a safe way to reach the outdoor part, whether via a balcony or secure stairs.

FAQ
Questions about Window AC repair
Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?
Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.
How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?
The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.
The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?
The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.
Why does my window unit drip water into the room?
A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.
Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?
Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.
My window unit is rusty on the outside, is it dangerous to run?
Surface rust is not immediately dangerous, but it signals that internal parts may be affected too. We inspect it and remove removable rust to prevent it spreading to the condenser and motor.
Does sea salt cause window unit faults faster than inland areas?
Yes, significantly. Salt accelerates corrosion by years, and units here develop wear faults in half the time compared to inland areas.
Humidity is very high, does it increase mould and condensation in the window unit?
Very much. Coastal humidity and rapid heat swings cause rapid mould and condensation buildup in the coil and drain. We clean these parts regularly during repairs.
Should I cover or shut down my window unit in winter?
Covering it with a plastic or cloth cover helps protect the outer parts from salt spray. If you will not use it for months, cover it before shutting down to reduce corrosion.
