When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Al Tilal is a spacious residential area with scattered villas and wide plots, enjoying more open planning than central Jeddah. Residents here use window units in extra rooms or older villas before upgrading, and units typically run seasonally rather than year-round. This means small faults show up after idle periods, and accurate diagnosis before replacement saves money and time.

Al Tilal sits in east Jeddah, a spacious residential area with scattered villas, wide plots and open urban planning.

Window units in villas typically run seasonally, not daily, so faults often show up when restarting after idle periods.

The AC setup in Al Tilal

  1. 1

Window units in older villas with wide windows

Many Al Tilal villas are fairly old and use window units in extra rooms with wide windows that need strong supports.

  2. 2

Seasonal units in newer villas as a temporary solution

Some newer villas have temporary window units before central AC is installed, running lightly only in season.

  3. 3

Long copper lines to distant rooms

Larger villas may need long copper lines from the outdoor unit, which affects cooling efficiency.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Tilal

  1. 1

Ensure the outdoor unit is easily accessible

In villas the outdoor unit may be on a side wall or rear courtyard, so make sure the team can reach it easily.

  2. 2

Switch off the unit and cut power fully

Hours before our visit, switch off the AC and cut power from the main breaker.

  3. 3

Have keys ready for entry and exit

Villas may need entry through a rear door or courtyard, so have keys and locks ready before the team arrives.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

My window unit in the bedroom will not cool when I switch it on after winter, what is wrong?

After idle time, there may be less refrigerant or thick oil in the lines, or the compressor itself may need a few minutes to restart. We check it and run it safely.

My villa is old and the window is very large, can the unit be safely fitted?

Large windows may need extra brackets for safe mounting. We check the frame and existing supports and reinforce them if needed before repair.

The unit runs but cold air does not reach the room, is that normal?

The air outlet may be blocked or the blower wheel weakened by dirt. We clean the outlet and wheel and check air pressure.

The outdoor unit wires are starting to peel, is this dangerous?

Peeling insulation can cause electrical leakage or shock. We check the wires and replace them if damage is deep, for safety.
