When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Al Wadi is a dense residential zone of relatively older apartment blocks, villas and mid-range flats, most relying on window units for cooling and ventilation. The intense heat and high humidity in the southern zone stress older units, causing water leaks or insufficient cooling. Correct diagnosis separates cost-effective repair from necessary replacement.

Al Wadi is in south Jeddah, a dense residential zone of older blocks, villas and shops along main streets.

Most window units here are older models past five years old, needing regular cleaning to handle the heat and humidity.

The AC setup in Al Wadi

  1. 1

    Window units on front windows

Most units here are mounted on front windows of flats and villas, making indoor access straightforward.

  2. 2

    Older units needing regular maintenance

The average unit age is high, and regular cleaning and early repair extend lifespan instead of quick replacement.

  3. 3

    Water drainage into side passages

Drainage typically runs toward side passages between homes, requiring careful coordination to prevent pooling and mould issues.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Wadi

  1. 1

Ensure access to both window sides

Confirm the window with the unit can be safely opened from inside and outside before the team arrives.

  2. 2

Coordinate with neighbours if drain adjustment needed

If the drain affects the shared passage, notify affected neighbours of the visit time and planned repair.

  3. 3

Prepare power supply and space around unit

Make sure the power switch is accessible and the space around the unit is clear of obstructions before the visit.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

My window unit makes a strange noise, does that mean a major fault?

Not necessarily. The noise might be loose debris in the fan, a weak capacitor or poor mounting. We inspect and fix the real cause.

The outdoor units sit in narrow passages between homes, can you reach them easily?

Yes, but we coordinate in advance to clear the passage and ensure we do not obstruct it during work.

The extreme heat makes the unit freeze up and stop cooling, what is the fix?

This signals a clogged coil, low refrigerant or compressor fault. Accurate diagnosis identifies the cause and proper fix.

The unit's drain runs into the passage between homes, does that cause issues?

Poor drainage can cause water pooling and mould. We inspect the drain line, clear any blockage and confirm proper slope during repair.
