When your window unit needs attention

  1. 1

Weak cooling even on full power

The room stays warm even with the unit running at full. Most often the coil or filter is blocked with the dust and salt Jeddah's air carries; cleaning them brings the cooling back without any parts.

  2. 2

    Water leaking into the room

Dripping inside the room does not always mean a mechanical fault. The unit needs a slight tilt toward the outside so condensate runs away. We check the tilt, the drain tray and the drain holes before anything else.

  3. 3

Loud noise or a fan that will not spin

Grinding or heavy vibration usually points to a fan with broken blades, a worn shaft or a foreign object inside the unit. A fan that does not start while the compressor hums is often a failed run capacitor.

Who it's for

  • Your flat's window unit drips onto the floor

We check the unit tilt, drain tray and drain holes on site and correct the real cause so the dripping does not return.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what is happening: noise, drip or weak cooling. A photo of the front of the unit helps us know the model before the visit.

  2. 2

    On-site diagnosis

The technician checks the filter, coil, fan, capacitor and thermostat in order, then tells you the real cause and what the repair needs before he starts.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace call

If the repair is practical we complete it in the same visit. If the unit is old, the chassis is deeply rusted or the compressor fault is complex, we say so plainly and explain your options.

  4. 4

    Run test and handover

After the repair we run the unit, check the cooling, confirm the drain flows and watch the current settle, then leave the room clean.

What sets this district apart

Dhahban is a coastal district on the Red Sea, mostly small and medium villas and service stations relying on window units with minimal splits. High salinity and extreme humidity accelerate metal corrosion and coil rust, and boost mould growth in drain pans. Common problems here are external-frame rust, corroded coils and drainage failures from algae and mould buildup, and repair requires special attention to coastal conditions.

Dhahban lies on the Red Sea coast at far-north Jeddah, a coastal district of small villas and service stations exposed to high salinity and humidity.

Most window units here mount on villa facades facing the sea or inward, and coils and metals corrode faster than inland districts because of salt exposure.

The AC setup in Dhahban

  1. 1

    Coastal-exposed window units

Window units in Dhahban face salinity and extreme humidity directly, with faster corrosion than inland areas.

  2. 2

    Algae-affected drainage

Drain pans and tubing prone to algae and mould growth in high humidity, causing repeated blockages.

  3. 3

Small villas with limited external access

Small coastal villas may have limited access to the outdoor unit due to proximity to the sea and narrow roads.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Dhahban

  1. 1

Test the unit and identify drainage issues

Run the unit before we arrive and watch for drainage leaks or musty smells, and tell us the details.

  2. 2

    Ensure safe outdoor unit access

The outdoor unit may be near the sea or on a wall near structures. Make sure the path is safe and free of wires or obstacles.

  3. 3

    Gather last maintenance history

If the unit had prior maintenance or cleaning, tell us when and what was done so we can assess current condition.

FAQ

Questions about Window AC repair

Can a window unit be repaired in the same visit?

Many faults, a clogged filter, a dirty coil, a failed run capacitor and a wrong tilt, are fixed in a single visit. If the unit needs a part the technician does not carry, we arrange a second visit once it is sourced.

How does Jeddah's salty air affect a window unit?

The damp salty air from the sea speeds up corrosion on the metal chassis, fan blades and coil fins. Units on sea-facing walls or higher floors corrode faster. We check how deep the rust goes and tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing or whether the chassis has reached the point where replacement saves more.

The unit runs but the compressor will not start. What causes that?

The most common cause is a failed run capacitor that can no longer give the compressor or fan the starting push it needs. The relay is the second likely cause. The technician tests both with instruments and confirms which is at fault before replacing anything.

Why does my window unit drip water into the room?

A window unit drains condensate out of the back, so if it tilts inwards or the drain holes in its base block, the water comes back into the room. We reset the tilt slightly outwards, clean the pan and drain holes, and check the frame is sealed so no water runs down the sides.

Can a faulty thermostat cause the compressor to cycle on and off rapidly?

Yes. A faulty thermostat can send wrong signals that make the compressor cut in and out abnormally, straining the circuit and reducing cooling. The technician tests the thermostat with instruments and separates it from other causes such as the relay or a supply voltage issue before any part is replaced.

Rust on the frame weakens the unit or does it still work?

Frame rust does not affect cooling, but rust on the coils and tubing is serious. We inspect the coils internally and replace any corroded tubes quickly.

Salinity and humidity here are very high, do they shorten unit lifespan?

Yes, salinity greatly accelerates corrosion. A coastal window unit needs frequent cleaning and extra care to maintain reasonable lifespan.

The drain pan clogs fast and grows algae, what is the solution?

Algae and mould grow fast in high humidity and stagnant water. Frequent cleaning and ensuring good drain slope is needed roughly monthly here.

Do I need special treatment to protect the unit from salt?

Anti-rust treatment may help the external frame, but main protection is regular cleaning and maintenance. We recommend inspection every two months on the coast.
