Central AC for apartments

Apartment central AC in Al Aziziyah

In Al Aziziyah, central Jeddah, installing central AC in apartments faces the challenge of tight voids in dense, closely spaced residential towers. Alrabih designs a quiet system that fits limited space and drains safely without being affected by coastal humidity.

  • Tight ceiling
  • Sealed drain
  • Quiet running

When central AC makes sense in your flat

  1. 1

    New flat before finishing

The finishing stage is the right time to install central AC. The ceiling is open and walls are ready for copper and drain routes, so there is no need later to cut plaster or damage finished surfaces.

  2. 2

Occupied flat where splits fall short

If splits leave hot and cold patches, or the noise bothers you at night, central AC distributes air evenly and hides the unit away from the room. A site survey decides whether your ceiling height allows it.

  3. 3

    Your unit disturbs the neighbours

In apartments, neighbours hear unit vibration through shared ceilings and walls. We choose the indoor unit suspension point carefully and use flexible collars on the air outlets to absorb vibration before it reaches the building structure.

Who it's for

  • Living in a furnished flat and want to replace splits

We survey your ceiling void to see whether a concealed unit fits, then run copper and drain without disturbing the existing décor.

We coordinate with the finishing stage to run copper, drain and ducts before ceilings and walls are closed, so every route stays fully concealed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Ceiling and route survey

We measure the available ceiling void, decide where the indoor unit hangs, map the copper route and find where condensate drains without causing damp. The survey decides whether one zone or more suits the flat.

  2. 2

    Run copper and drain

We run insulated Mueller copper in the void above the suspended ceiling and slope the condensate line towards the building drain or an external outlet, so no standing water causes odour or damp.

  3. 3

    Fit ducts and outlets

We mount the indoor unit on vibration-absorbing hangers, route ducts to each room and place every outlet so air spreads evenly without blowing cold air directly onto anyone.

  4. 4

    Vacuum, test and hand over

We vacuum the copper line to remove air and moisture, check all joints, then run the unit and confirm cooling in every room before we hand over.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Aziziyah is a modern district of tall residential towers packed very closely together, with small living spaces and extremely tight false ceilings. The central system here needs a different design because the ducts must be narrow and flexible to pass through the very tight voids, and acoustic insulation is critical because closely packed towers transmit sound easily. Coastal humidity raises mould risk, so the condensate drain must be precisely managed.

Al Aziziyah is a modern district in central Jeddah, with tall residential towers packed tightly together and small flat sizes.

Flats here typically take the indoor unit in a very tight ceiling passage or a built-in bathroom cupboard, with a two or three-outlet distribution system.

The AC setup in Al Aziziyah

  1. 1

Indoor unit with very narrow flexible ducts

Compact indoor units with flexible ducts fit the extremely tight spaces between walls and false ceilings in dense towers.

  2. 2

    Two-outlet maximum distribution system

Small flats here take a two-outlet distribution to bedroom and living room only to preserve ceiling space.

  3. 3

Central drain designed for coastal humidity

Ducts and drainage are graded for clear flow and connected to external outlets to keep the ceiling space dry in coastal air.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Aziziyah

  1. 1

Inform building management about the visit time

Crowded towers need coordination with management to use the lift and passages at set times without disturbing other residents.

  2. 2

Clear space on the balcony or roof for the outdoor unit

Decide where the outdoor unit goes (balcony or roof) and ensure that space is clear of items and washing before the installation date.

  3. 3

Check the passage and bathroom before the visit

Ensure the ceiling passage and bathroom cupboard chosen for the indoor unit are clear and properly lit for the team to work safely.

FAQ

Questions about Apartment central AC

Is there enough ceiling space in a flat for a central unit?

It varies between flats. Slim ceiling cassettes need less void depth than full ducted units. A site survey measures what is available and decides the right type; if the corridor ceiling is too shallow we look at a storage room or bathroom ceiling instead.

Is one unit enough for the whole flat or do I need more?

It depends on the flat's area, room layout and how much sun each side receives. Two- and three-bedroom flats can sometimes work with one unit and well-planned ducts; larger flats or those with separate zones may need two. The survey decides.

Where does the outdoor unit go when the flat has no large balcony?

Options include the shared roof if the building rules allow it, a facade bracket away from neighbours' windows, or the balcony if it can take the load. We review the building's rules before recommending any position.

Jeddah's air is very humid; does that affect the condensate drain?

Yes. In Jeddah the indoor unit produces more condensate because of the high humidity. We make sure the drain line has enough fall, that the horizontal run before it drops is not too long, and that the outlet does not conflict with other flats' drainage in the building.

Can the flat be split into two zones with different temperatures?

It is possible using two separate indoor units or by adding variable-flow dampers on the duct runs. The right choice depends on the flat's layout and the ceiling void available in each zone. A site survey decides which approach suits your room arrangement.

Our false ceiling is extremely tight, is central AC installation possible?

Yes, we use narrow flexible ducts and custom designs to fit extremely tight voids without significantly lowering your flat's ceiling height.

How do you bring installation equipment through a tight, busy tower?

We coordinate with the building management to use the lift and main passages, and carry equipment carefully to avoid disturbing other residents.

Coastal humidity is high here, does it affect the central system?

Yes, coastal humidity increases mould risk in the ducts and indoor unit, so we design distribution routes with clear gradients and safe drainage to prevent water pooling.

The towers here are very close together, does noise travel between flats?

Yes, closely spaced towers transmit sound easily, so we add extra acoustic insulation to the unit and ducts and choose duct sizes that avoid high noise levels.
