Central AC for apartments

Apartment central AC in Al Baghdadiyah Al Sharqiyah

In Al Baghdadiyah Al Sharqiyah, central Jeddah, fitting apartment central AC needs careful planning because ceiling voids are tight and flats sit close together. Alrabih's team selects the indoor unit location carefully and distributes cool air quietly to all rooms without disturbing neighbours.

When central AC makes sense in your flat

  1. 1

    New flat before finishing

The finishing stage is the right time to install central AC. The ceiling is open and walls are ready for copper and drain routes, so there is no need later to cut plaster or damage finished surfaces.

  2. 2

Occupied flat where splits fall short

If splits leave hot and cold patches, or the noise bothers you at night, central AC distributes air evenly and hides the unit away from the room. A site survey decides whether your ceiling height allows it.

  3. 3

    Your unit disturbs the neighbours

In apartments, neighbours hear unit vibration through shared ceilings and walls. We choose the indoor unit suspension point carefully and use flexible collars on the air outlets to absorb vibration before it reaches the building structure.

Who it's for

  • Living in a furnished flat and want to replace splits

We survey your ceiling void to see whether a concealed unit fits, then run copper and drain without disturbing the existing décor.

  • Buying a flat in a building under construction

We coordinate with the finishing stage to run copper, drain and ducts before ceilings and walls are closed, so every route stays fully concealed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Ceiling and route survey

We measure the available ceiling void, decide where the indoor unit hangs, map the copper route and find where condensate drains without causing damp. The survey decides whether one zone or more suits the flat.

  2. 2

    Run copper and drain

We run insulated Mueller copper in the void above the suspended ceiling and slope the condensate line towards the building drain or an external outlet, so no standing water causes odour or damp.

  3. 3

    Fit ducts and outlets

We mount the indoor unit on vibration-absorbing hangers, route ducts to each room and place every outlet so air spreads evenly without blowing cold air directly onto anyone.

  4. 4

    Vacuum, test and hand over

We vacuum the copper line to remove air and moisture, check all joints, then run the unit and confirm cooling in every room before we hand over.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Baghdadiyah Al Sharqiyah is a medium-density residential district mixing modern and older apartment blocks, with both family and small units. Suspended ceilings in most flats here have shallow depth, and existing ductwork and electrical runs already occupy the corridors and bathrooms, making it a daily challenge to route the condensate drain and refrigerant line safely. Planning ahead with the building management or owner is essential to avoid damaging neighbouring units and to respect lease terms.

Al Baghdadiyah Al Sharqiyah lies in central Jeddah, a medium-density residential zone with multi-storey blocks and mixed apartment sizes.

Most flats here have small indoor units mounted in corridors or bathrooms due to space constraints, with outdoor units on balconies or shared roofs.

The AC setup in Al Baghdadiyah Al Sharqiyah

  1. 1

Compact indoor unit in corridor or bathroom

Tight ceiling voids in Al Baghdadiyah flats call for slim indoor units mounted in corridors or bathroom corners to save space.

  2. 2

Silent air distribution through flexible ducts

Flexible ducts hidden in ceilings and walls carry cool air to rooms without generating high noise levels.

  3. 3

Outdoor unit on the shared roof

The outdoor unit is typically mounted on the shared roof or a safe balcony, away from neighbouring windows.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Baghdadiyah Al Sharqiyah

  1. 1

    Obtain building management approval

Get written approval from building management for the outdoor unit location and duct routing before the visit date.

  2. 2

    Identify the existing drain route

Let us know where the nearest existing drain or safe outlet is in the flat so we can connect the AC condensate line to it.

  3. 3

    Confirm roof and balcony access

Make sure the team can reach the roof or balcony safely to install the outdoor unit and connect the pipes and electrics.

FAQ

Questions about Apartment central AC

Is there enough ceiling space in a flat for a central unit?

It varies between flats. Slim ceiling cassettes need less void depth than full ducted units. A site survey measures what is available and decides the right type; if the corridor ceiling is too shallow we look at a storage room or bathroom ceiling instead.

Is one unit enough for the whole flat or do I need more?

It depends on the flat's area, room layout and how much sun each side receives. Two- and three-bedroom flats can sometimes work with one unit and well-planned ducts; larger flats or those with separate zones may need two. The survey decides.

Where does the outdoor unit go when the flat has no large balcony?

Options include the shared roof if the building rules allow it, a facade bracket away from neighbours' windows, or the balcony if it can take the load. We review the building's rules before recommending any position.

Jeddah's air is very humid; does that affect the condensate drain?

Yes. In Jeddah the indoor unit produces more condensate because of the high humidity. We make sure the drain line has enough fall, that the horizontal run before it drops is not too long, and that the outlet does not conflict with other flats' drainage in the building.

Can the flat be split into two zones with different temperatures?

It is possible using two separate indoor units or by adding variable-flow dampers on the duct runs. The right choice depends on the flat's layout and the ceiling void available in each zone. A site survey decides which approach suits your room arrangement.

Our corridors are narrow, can the indoor unit fit there safely?

We choose the indoor unit size to fit the corridor or bathroom, and coordinate with building management to ensure it does not obstruct shared passages or exits.

How is the condensate drained without damaging walls or neighbours below?

We route the condensate line through pipes hidden in walls or ceilings, connecting it to an existing drain or directing it to the bathroom so no damp reaches the flat below.

Will noise from the outdoor unit bother the neighbours?

We place the outdoor unit on the roof or balcony away from neighbours' windows, and use noise-damping pads if needed.

Do we need building management approval before installation?

Yes, we coordinate with building management or the owner to approve the outdoor unit location and ensure the installation fits the building's systems.
