Central AC for apartments

Apartment central AC in Al Wahah

In Al Wahah, East Jeddah, apartment central AC installation requires sensitive handling of mixed-age buildings and varying layouts in a fast-growing district. Alrabih's team measures each location individually and designs runs to suit variable voids, old and new wiring.

When central AC makes sense in your flat

  1. 1

    New flat before finishing

The finishing stage is the right time to install central AC. The ceiling is open and walls are ready for copper and drain routes, so there is no need later to cut plaster or damage finished surfaces.

  2. 2

Occupied flat where splits fall short

If splits leave hot and cold patches, or the noise bothers you at night, central AC distributes air evenly and hides the unit away from the room. A site survey decides whether your ceiling height allows it.

  3. 3

    Your unit disturbs the neighbours

In apartments, neighbours hear unit vibration through shared ceilings and walls. We choose the indoor unit suspension point carefully and use flexible collars on the air outlets to absorb vibration before it reaches the building structure.

Who it's for

  • Living in a furnished flat and want to replace splits

We survey your ceiling void to see whether a concealed unit fits, then run copper and drain without disturbing the existing décor.

  • Buying a flat in a building under construction

We coordinate with the finishing stage to run copper, drain and ducts before ceilings and walls are closed, so every route stays fully concealed.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Ceiling and route survey

We measure the available ceiling void, decide where the indoor unit hangs, map the copper route and find where condensate drains without causing damp. The survey decides whether one zone or more suits the flat.

  2. 2

    Run copper and drain

We run insulated Mueller copper in the void above the suspended ceiling and slope the condensate line towards the building drain or an external outlet, so no standing water causes odour or damp.

  3. 3

    Fit ducts and outlets

We mount the indoor unit on vibration-absorbing hangers, route ducts to each room and place every outlet so air spreads evenly without blowing cold air directly onto anyone.

  4. 4

    Vacuum, test and hand over

We vacuum the copper line to remove air and moisture, check all joints, then run the unit and confirm cooling in every room before we hand over.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Wahah is expanding rapidly, so you find older blocks beside brand-new complexes with no design uniformity. Some flats have relatively high ceilings and open voids; others have very low ceilings and tight corridors. Old electrical wiring often mixes with modern runs in the same ceiling space. The East's humidity, heat and dust make drainage and thermal insulation critical. We size the indoor unit and route individually for each flat rather than assume a standard layout.

Al Wahah sits in East Jeddah, a fast-growing district with a mix of older and new blocks and varied layouts.

Flats in Al Wahah vary greatly in size and layout, so each location needs individual assessment of voids and wiring before installation.

The AC setup in Al Wahah

  1. 1

Indoor unit tailored to available space

Voids in Al Wahah vary greatly, so we select the indoor-unit size and type based on precise measurement of each location.

  2. 2

Flexible duct routing around old wiring

Mixed old and new wiring requires flexible ducts and careful angled runs to avoid contact and damage.

  3. 3

Strong thermal insulation for drain line

Al Wahah's heat and high humidity require heavy thermal insulation around the drain to prevent condensation and leaks.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Wahah

  1. 1

Precise measurement of voids and ceiling before the date

The great design variation makes initial measurement essential. Let us do a short site visit before the formal appointment.

  2. 2

Identify old and new wiring paths

If you know anything about old or new wiring paths, tell us before the visit to help our planning.

  3. 3

    Clarify preferred outdoor drain exit

Decide where the drain can exit your flat without bothering neighbours or damaging the facade.

FAQ

Questions about Apartment central AC

Is there enough ceiling space in a flat for a central unit?

It varies between flats. Slim ceiling cassettes need less void depth than full ducted units. A site survey measures what is available and decides the right type; if the corridor ceiling is too shallow we look at a storage room or bathroom ceiling instead.

Is one unit enough for the whole flat or do I need more?

It depends on the flat's area, room layout and how much sun each side receives. Two- and three-bedroom flats can sometimes work with one unit and well-planned ducts; larger flats or those with separate zones may need two. The survey decides.

Where does the outdoor unit go when the flat has no large balcony?

Options include the shared roof if the building rules allow it, a facade bracket away from neighbours' windows, or the balcony if it can take the load. We review the building's rules before recommending any position.

Jeddah's air is very humid; does that affect the condensate drain?

Yes. In Jeddah the indoor unit produces more condensate because of the high humidity. We make sure the drain line has enough fall, that the horizontal run before it drops is not too long, and that the outlet does not conflict with other flats' drainage in the building.

Can the flat be split into two zones with different temperatures?

It is possible using two separate indoor units or by adding variable-flow dampers on the duct runs. The right choice depends on the flat's layout and the ceiling void available in each zone. A site survey decides which approach suits your room arrangement.

The district is new with very different designs, how do you handle such variation?

We visit the flat first, measure the voids, ceiling height and wiring, then design the runs based on each unit's actual situation rather than assumptions.

Old and new wiring mixed in the ceiling, does that complicate the job?

Yes, it needs care. We identify old and new wiring precisely and navigate around both without touching either. We consult an electrician if we find any questionable connections.

The district is hot with high humidity, is drainage secure?

Heat and humidity together increase condensation and leak risk. We choose heavily insulated drain piping, route it away from shared walls, and test under load.

Our ceiling is very low in some spots, can you do the whole flat?

Yes, we choose the indoor-unit location based on available clearance, and route ducts around very low areas using flexible paths and angled runs.
