Who needs a new cold room?

  1. 1

Restaurant or bakery expanding its store

Your current storage cannot hold the quantities you need, or you are relying on domestic fridges that are not up to the job. A purpose-built cold room keeps ingredients at a steady temperature and cuts waste caused by temperature swings.

  2. 2

Pharmacy or clinic needing medical storage

Medicines, vaccines and sensitive medical supplies need a temperature that does not shift when the door opens or when Jeddah's summer heat peaks. We build the room to suit that use and choose the condensing unit after the site survey.

  3. 3

Warehouse or grocery starting from scratch

You are fitting out your premises and want a cold room built in from the start, or you want to convert part of a warehouse into one. The site, the daily stock volume and how often the door opens all shape the right specification, and we work that out with you at the survey.

Who it's for

  • Opening a bakery and need ingredient storage

We survey your allocated space and build a cold room sized to your daily production volume, from insulated panels to the temperature controller.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey

The technician visits, measures the available space and asks about your stock type, quantities and daily use to set the room dimensions and the capacity the unit needs.

  2. 2

    Panels and door

We fit the insulated wall and ceiling panels and seal every joint, then hang the cold room door in its frame and check that the seal presses evenly on all four sides.

  3. 3

    Cooling unit and pipework

We mount the condensing unit where it has enough air, fit the evaporator inside the room, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, fully insulated to reduce heat gain.

  4. 4

    Vacuum, start-up, handover

We vacuum the copper line and test joints before starting the unit, then set the temperature controller and confirm the room reaches the target temperature before handing over.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Amwaj is a relatively modern district with residential towers, hotels and spacious commercial complexes, and the high coastal humidity demands robust insulation and precise condensate drainage in cold rooms. The open spaces and high ceilings allow multi-sized cold room installations, but constant sea breeze and salt exposure stress the outdoor condenser, making the right placement and insulation choice vital for durability.

Al Amwaj sits in modern north Jeddah, blending hotels, residential towers and spacious commercial units.

Most cold rooms in Al Amwaj sit in warehouse or central kitchen spaces for hotels and catering, with outdoor condensers exposed to sea salt on open roofs.

The AC setup in Al Amwaj

  1. 1

Standalone cold room in warehouse or kitchen

Most installations here are separate rooms within warehouses or central kitchens, with thick insulated panels suited to heavy loads and high humidity.

  2. 2

    Outdoor condenser on open roof

Condensers sit on exposed roofs in Al Amwaj, requiring whatever sea salt and wind shelter the building design allows.

  3. 3

    Digital temperature control system

Every cold room Alrabih installs comes with a digital thermometer and thermostat to maintain the set temperature automatically.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Amwaj

  1. 1

Confirm the exact room and condenser location

Tell us exactly where the cold room will sit inside your warehouse or kitchen, and where the outdoor condenser can be mounted on the roof.

  2. 2

Ensure adequate electrical supply is available

Cold rooms need substantial electrical power, so confirm your building's electrical circuit can handle the load.

  3. 3

Coordinate with building management about the installation

If the building has multiple units or is a hotel, notify management about the installation date to ease team and material access.

FAQ

Questions about Cold room installation

How is the right cold room size worked out?

Size depends on the type and quantity of stock, how often fresh goods come in and how many times the door opens each day. These factors together set the dimensions and the cooling unit capacity needed, which is why we do not suggest a size before the site visit.

Where does the condensing unit go in a restaurant or warehouse?

The condensing unit needs enough air around it, distance from heat sources and a spot a technician can reach for servicing. We decide the best location at the site survey based on the building layout and how the space is used.

What happens to my stock if the power to the room cuts out?

A well-insulated room with a tight door holds its cold for a limited time if the door stays shut, and longer the thicker the insulation and the better the seal. So we choose the panel thickness and the door seal with care, and set the controller to raise an alarm when the temperature rises, so you can act before stock spoils.

What is the difference between this room and a freezer room?

A chiller room works above freezing and suits vegetables, medicines, dairy and baked goods. A freezer room works below freezing and needs thicker insulation, an insulated floor, a heated door frame and a defrost system. If you need freezing or a combined room, we offer that as a dedicated service.

Can a cold room be installed in a rented space without major structural changes?

In most cases yes. Insulated panels are assembled inside the existing space without demolition or construction work, and the condensing unit is fixed in a suitable spot the technician identifies at the survey. Ceiling type and building ventilation may affect the details, and we confirm those after seeing the site.

How do you size a cold room for our restaurant in Al Amwaj?

We measure your kitchen space and daily load (food and beverage volume to be chilled), then select insulation thickness, evaporator and condenser based on that calculation and the coastal humidity conditions.

Al Amwaj is coastal, does that affect the outdoor condenser?

Yes, sea salt and coastal winds cause faster corrosion, so we choose sheltered locations where possible and recommend regular condenser maintenance.

Is water drainage from the cold room a concern in Al Amwaj?

High humidity raises condensate volume, so we set up robust drainage that feeds into a safe outlet away from the building's foundation.

We have plenty of space, can you install a very large cold room?

Yes, the high ceilings and open spaces in Al Amwaj allow large installations, but we need a site visit to confirm safe and secure panel mounting and condenser placement.
