Who needs a new cold room?

  1. 1

Restaurant or bakery expanding its store

Your current storage cannot hold the quantities you need, or you are relying on domestic fridges that are not up to the job. A purpose-built cold room keeps ingredients at a steady temperature and cuts waste caused by temperature swings.

  2. 2

Pharmacy or clinic needing medical storage

Medicines, vaccines and sensitive medical supplies need a temperature that does not shift when the door opens or when Jeddah's summer heat peaks. We build the room to suit that use and choose the condensing unit after the site survey.

  3. 3

Warehouse or grocery starting from scratch

You are fitting out your premises and want a cold room built in from the start, or you want to convert part of a warehouse into one. The site, the daily stock volume and how often the door opens all shape the right specification, and we work that out with you at the survey.

Who it's for

  • Opening a bakery and need ingredient storage

We survey your allocated space and build a cold room sized to your daily production volume, from insulated panels to the temperature controller.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey

The technician visits, measures the available space and asks about your stock type, quantities and daily use to set the room dimensions and the capacity the unit needs.

  2. 2

    Panels and door

We fit the insulated wall and ceiling panels and seal every joint, then hang the cold room door in its frame and check that the seal presses evenly on all four sides.

  3. 3

    Cooling unit and pipework

We mount the condensing unit where it has enough air, fit the evaporator inside the room, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, fully insulated to reduce heat gain.

  4. 4

    Vacuum, start-up, handover

We vacuum the copper line and test joints before starting the unit, then set the temperature controller and confirm the room reaches the target temperature before handing over.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Huda is an expanding district with mixed residential and commercial projects, buildings typically multi-storey with ground-floor shops and housing above, or small independent warehouses. Intense heat and high coastal humidity increase unit load, and available spaces vary widely between projects, so we need careful on-site assessment, design the room to actual space and expected load, and mount the outdoor unit safely away from homes and foot traffic.

Al Huda lies in south Jeddah, an expanding mixed residential and commercial district near the waterfront.

Cold rooms here range widely from 4 to 25 cubic metres depending on project type, with outdoor units distributed across roofs and walls as feasible.

The AC setup in Al Huda

  1. 1

Cold room at varying capacities by project type

Different projects in Al Huda need rooms of varying sizes, from small shops to medium warehouses, so we assess each case carefully.

  2. 2

Outdoor unit with strong salt-air protection

Proximity to the sea demands outdoor units with rust-protection coating, positioned at reasonable height.

  3. 3

Drainage system protected from moisture and salt

Condensate drainage is designed to keep away from walls and foundations, staying clear of homes and walkways.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Huda

  1. 1

Prepare a sketch or photo of the site

Send a photo or simple sketch of available space, ceiling heights and walls, this helps us assess the site quickly before visiting.

  2. 2

Confirm access to roof and exterior walls

Make sure the team can safely reach the roof or exterior wall, and tell us of any obstacles or hazards.

  3. 3

Tell us about electrical supply and existing wiring

Let us know if wiring is adequate and current, and where the main panel is, so we plan safe unit connections.

FAQ

Questions about Cold room installation

How is the right cold room size worked out?

Size depends on the type and quantity of stock, how often fresh goods come in and how many times the door opens each day. These factors together set the dimensions and the cooling unit capacity needed, which is why we do not suggest a size before the site visit.

Where does the condensing unit go in a restaurant or warehouse?

The condensing unit needs enough air around it, distance from heat sources and a spot a technician can reach for servicing. We decide the best location at the site survey based on the building layout and how the space is used.

What happens to my stock if the power to the room cuts out?

A well-insulated room with a tight door holds its cold for a limited time if the door stays shut, and longer the thicker the insulation and the better the seal. So we choose the panel thickness and the door seal with care, and set the controller to raise an alarm when the temperature rises, so you can act before stock spoils.

What is the difference between this room and a freezer room?

A chiller room works above freezing and suits vegetables, medicines, dairy and baked goods. A freezer room works below freezing and needs thicker insulation, an insulated floor, a heated door frame and a defrost system. If you need freezing or a combined room, we offer that as a dedicated service.

Can a cold room be installed in a rented space without major structural changes?

In most cases yes. Insulated panels are assembled inside the existing space without demolition or construction work, and the condensing unit is fixed in a suitable spot the technician identifies at the survey. Ceiling type and building ventilation may affect the details, and we confirm those after seeing the site.

My project is new and space is not yet defined, how do you determine the right room size?

We visit and study the available space and layout, ask about daily stock volume and expected use, then recommend a suitable size with flexibility for future growth.

The area is very coastal and the air is salty, does that affect the cooling and outdoor unit?

Absolutely, salty air accelerates rust and corrosion, so we choose outdoor units with double rust coating, mount them at safe height away from salt spray, and advise regular checks and cleaning.

The neighbourhood is expanding fast and new projects are coming close, will the outdoor unit stay safe?

We pick a safe spot on the roof or rear wall away from construction lines and expected urban development, mounting the unit so it does not block passages or get damaged by adjacent projects.

My stock needs intermittent cooling, can the room handle frequent on-off cycling?

Yes, modern thermostats are programmed for frequent cycling, and the unit is designed for this pattern of use, but we advise periodic seal and condensate checks.
