Who needs a new cold room?

  1. 1

Restaurant or bakery expanding its store

Your current storage cannot hold the quantities you need, or you are relying on domestic fridges that are not up to the job. A purpose-built cold room keeps ingredients at a steady temperature and cuts waste caused by temperature swings.

  2. 2

Pharmacy or clinic needing medical storage

Medicines, vaccines and sensitive medical supplies need a temperature that does not shift when the door opens or when Jeddah's summer heat peaks. We build the room to suit that use and choose the condensing unit after the site survey.

  3. 3

Warehouse or grocery starting from scratch

You are fitting out your premises and want a cold room built in from the start, or you want to convert part of a warehouse into one. The site, the daily stock volume and how often the door opens all shape the right specification, and we work that out with you at the survey.

Who it's for

  • Opening a bakery and need ingredient storage

We survey your allocated space and build a cold room sized to your daily production volume, from insulated panels to the temperature controller.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey

The technician visits, measures the available space and asks about your stock type, quantities and daily use to set the room dimensions and the capacity the unit needs.

  2. 2

    Panels and door

We fit the insulated wall and ceiling panels and seal every joint, then hang the cold room door in its frame and check that the seal presses evenly on all four sides.

  3. 3

    Cooling unit and pipework

We mount the condensing unit where it has enough air, fit the evaporator inside the room, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, fully insulated to reduce heat gain.

  4. 4

    Vacuum, start-up, handover

We vacuum the copper line and test joints before starting the unit, then set the temperature controller and confirm the room reaches the target temperature before handing over.

What sets this district apart

Al Marwah is a mixed urban district combining mid-rise residential buildings with large shops, restaurants and small hotels. Most buildings follow a modern conventional style with standard ceiling heights and limited floor widths, meaning cold rooms are usually small to medium and need precise installation to fit available space. The district's dense residential and commercial layout makes positioning the outdoor unit more complex, often requiring coordination with building management.

Al Marwah sits in central Jeddah, a mixed commercial-residential district with standard ceiling heights and confined spaces.

Cold rooms in Al Marwah range from small to medium, with outdoor units often mounted on balconies or wall sections due to building constraints.

The AC setup in Al Marwah

  1. 1

Small cold room for a shop or restaurant

Most small shops and restaurants in Al Marwah use a single-unit small cold room that does not demand large floor space.

  2. 2

Cold room with compact freezer section

Some small restaurants and hotels in Al Marwah request a room with two separate units, one for chilling and one at lower temperatures for freezing.

  3. 3

Vertical design unit to save floor space

In very tight buildings, we choose vertically configured cooling units instead of horizontal ones to reduce the room footprint while maintaining adequate cooling capacity.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Marwah

  1. 1

Take precise measurements of the available space

Before our visit, measure the length, width and height of the available space for the room, and tell us about any architectural obstacles like columns or pipes.

  2. 2

Coordinate with the building or property manager

If the building has central management, inform them of the installation plan and confirm that the outdoor unit location is approved by them.

  3. 3

    Check electrical supply availability

Ensure there is an electrical outlet near the room location, or arrange with an electrician to install a new circuit before installation day.

FAQ

Questions about Cold room installation

How is the right cold room size worked out?

Size depends on the type and quantity of stock, how often fresh goods come in and how many times the door opens each day. These factors together set the dimensions and the cooling unit capacity needed, which is why we do not suggest a size before the site visit.

Where does the condensing unit go in a restaurant or warehouse?

The condensing unit needs enough air around it, distance from heat sources and a spot a technician can reach for servicing. We decide the best location at the site survey based on the building layout and how the space is used.

What happens to my stock if the power to the room cuts out?

A well-insulated room with a tight door holds its cold for a limited time if the door stays shut, and longer the thicker the insulation and the better the seal. So we choose the panel thickness and the door seal with care, and set the controller to raise an alarm when the temperature rises, so you can act before stock spoils.

What is the difference between this room and a freezer room?

A chiller room works above freezing and suits vegetables, medicines, dairy and baked goods. A freezer room works below freezing and needs thicker insulation, an insulated floor, a heated door frame and a defrost system. If you need freezing or a combined room, we offer that as a dedicated service.

Can a cold room be installed in a rented space without major structural changes?

In most cases yes. Insulated panels are assembled inside the existing space without demolition or construction work, and the condensing unit is fixed in a suitable spot the technician identifies at the survey. Ceiling type and building ventilation may affect the details, and we confirm those after seeing the site.

My shop space is tight, can you fit a small cold room?

Yes, we design small rooms fitting tight shops and restaurants in Al Marwah, choosing panel sizes and units based on your available space and cooling load.

Our building is older, where do we place the outdoor unit?

We survey the building and coordinate with management on the safest spot for the outdoor unit, which might be a balcony or outer wall section, or explore alternatives if needed.

The area's humidity is high, will it affect the cold room?

We choose humidity-resistant insulation and materials suited to Al Marwah's central location and moisture levels, and ensure condensate drains properly to prevent buildup.

The building's electrical runs are limited, what is the solution?

We identify the unit's power requirement in advance and coordinate with a licensed electrician to upgrade the circuit if needed, or locate the outdoor unit closer to the main panel to minimise cable runs.
