Who needs a new cold room?

  1. 1

Restaurant or bakery expanding its store

Your current storage cannot hold the quantities you need, or you are relying on domestic fridges that are not up to the job. A purpose-built cold room keeps ingredients at a steady temperature and cuts waste caused by temperature swings.

  2. 2

Pharmacy or clinic needing medical storage

Medicines, vaccines and sensitive medical supplies need a temperature that does not shift when the door opens or when Jeddah's summer heat peaks. We build the room to suit that use and choose the condensing unit after the site survey.

  3. 3

Warehouse or grocery starting from scratch

You are fitting out your premises and want a cold room built in from the start, or you want to convert part of a warehouse into one. The site, the daily stock volume and how often the door opens all shape the right specification, and we work that out with you at the survey.

Who it's for

  • Opening a bakery and need ingredient storage

We survey your allocated space and build a cold room sized to your daily production volume, from insulated panels to the temperature controller.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey

The technician visits, measures the available space and asks about your stock type, quantities and daily use to set the room dimensions and the capacity the unit needs.

  2. 2

    Panels and door

We fit the insulated wall and ceiling panels and seal every joint, then hang the cold room door in its frame and check that the seal presses evenly on all four sides.

  3. 3

    Cooling unit and pipework

We mount the condensing unit where it has enough air, fit the evaporator inside the room, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, fully insulated to reduce heat gain.

  4. 4

    Vacuum, start-up, handover

We vacuum the copper line and test joints before starting the unit, then set the temperature controller and confirm the room reaches the target temperature before handing over.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Al Mawj and the southern districts host fish, meat, poultry shops, restaurants and bakeries, many needing a dedicated cold room because the coastal heat and high daily temperatures speed spoilage of fresh products. The buildings here are newer than downtown, but floor and basement space is often tight, calling for precisely fitted insulated panels and a compact condensing unit squeezed into limited outdoor room.

Al Mawj sits in coastal south Jeddah, a commercial and service district hosting food shops and small storage facilities with limited floor space.

Cold rooms here are typically small to medium-sized, fitted in basements or ground-floor shopfronts because upper floor space is constrained.

The AC setup in Al Mawj

  1. 1

Ground-level cold room in a small shop

Most shops here mount the cold room at ground level or basement because upper floors are tight and staff need easy access to stock and daily rotation.

  2. 2

Compact outdoor unit on roof or side wall

The condenser sits on the shop roof or side wall to avoid taking up interior space, but must have good airflow around it.

  3. 3

    Insulated sealed door

The door has full insulation and a tight seal to prevent cold loss and moisture ingress, critical in coastal humidity and salt air.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Mawj

  1. 1

Measure the available space and exact dimensions

Before we visit, measure the space height, width and ceiling clearance, and your door opening, so the panels and parts can pass through safely.

  2. 2

Notify the shop or building management of the visit time

If the shop is open or the building has central management, arrange the time in advance to avoid disruption and ensure access, keys and safe entry to the installation area.

  3. 3

Identify the outdoor unit location and air supply

Confirm there is safe roof or wall space for the condenser, away from direct sun and with room for airflow all around it.

FAQ

Questions about Cold room installation

How is the right cold room size worked out?

Size depends on the type and quantity of stock, how often fresh goods come in and how many times the door opens each day. These factors together set the dimensions and the cooling unit capacity needed, which is why we do not suggest a size before the site visit.

Where does the condensing unit go in a restaurant or warehouse?

The condensing unit needs enough air around it, distance from heat sources and a spot a technician can reach for servicing. We decide the best location at the site survey based on the building layout and how the space is used.

What happens to my stock if the power to the room cuts out?

A well-insulated room with a tight door holds its cold for a limited time if the door stays shut, and longer the thicker the insulation and the better the seal. So we choose the panel thickness and the door seal with care, and set the controller to raise an alarm when the temperature rises, so you can act before stock spoils.

What is the difference between this room and a freezer room?

A chiller room works above freezing and suits vegetables, medicines, dairy and baked goods. A freezer room works below freezing and needs thicker insulation, an insulated floor, a heated door frame and a defrost system. If you need freezing or a combined room, we offer that as a dedicated service.

Can a cold room be installed in a rented space without major structural changes?

In most cases yes. Insulated panels are assembled inside the existing space without demolition or construction work, and the condensing unit is fixed in a suitable spot the technician identifies at the survey. Ceiling type and building ventilation may affect the details, and we confirm those after seeing the site.

My shop is small, can you fit a cold room in limited space?

Yes, we size the room to your space and stock load. We measure your available area, door clearance and outdoor unit placement with you before installation starts.

Shops here are in tight basements, how do you get equipment and panels in?

We disassemble large panels and parts and carry them by hand if needed. We coordinate with the shop owner or building management to confirm the closest safe entry route before we arrive.

Our coastal heat is extreme, can the condensing unit handle it?

The outdoor unit must be placed where it has good airflow and shade from direct sun to prevent the refrigerant from overheating. We choose the right location during our first visit.

Do the insulated panels resist coastal humidity and salt air?

The insulated panels maintain internal temperature, but coastal salt and high outdoor temperatures affect the condenser and metal parts. We choose corrosion-resistant materials and recommend periodic condenser cleaning to keep it running well in coastal conditions.
