Who needs a new cold room?

  1. 1

Restaurant or bakery expanding its store

Your current storage cannot hold the quantities you need, or you are relying on domestic fridges that are not up to the job. A purpose-built cold room keeps ingredients at a steady temperature and cuts waste caused by temperature swings.

  2. 2

Pharmacy or clinic needing medical storage

Medicines, vaccines and sensitive medical supplies need a temperature that does not shift when the door opens or when Jeddah's summer heat peaks. We build the room to suit that use and choose the condensing unit after the site survey.

  3. 3

Warehouse or grocery starting from scratch

You are fitting out your premises and want a cold room built in from the start, or you want to convert part of a warehouse into one. The site, the daily stock volume and how often the door opens all shape the right specification, and we work that out with you at the survey.

Who it's for

  • Opening a bakery and need ingredient storage

We survey your allocated space and build a cold room sized to your daily production volume, from insulated panels to the temperature controller.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey

The technician visits, measures the available space and asks about your stock type, quantities and daily use to set the room dimensions and the capacity the unit needs.

  2. 2

    Panels and door

We fit the insulated wall and ceiling panels and seal every joint, then hang the cold room door in its frame and check that the seal presses evenly on all four sides.

  3. 3

    Cooling unit and pipework

We mount the condensing unit where it has enough air, fit the evaporator inside the room, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, fully insulated to reduce heat gain.

  4. 4

    Vacuum, start-up, handover

We vacuum the copper line and test joints before starting the unit, then set the temperature controller and confirm the room reaches the target temperature before handing over.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Rawasi is an industrial and commercial east-side district with wholesale shops, repair workshops, warehouses, small hotels and restaurants. Buildings here are spaced wider than residential areas, giving greater freedom to place the room and outdoor unit. But intense heat and continuous industrial work demand a very sturdy room with effective insulation and adequate cooling power. Foundations and roof structures may be unstable in some older warehouses, so site assessment before installation is essential.

Al Rawasi is in east Jeddah, an industrial and commercial district with warehouses, workshops and wholesale premises.

Cold rooms here are large, 20 to 40 cubic metres or more, serving warehouses and wholesale operations, with outdoor units mounted on sturdy roofs or heavy-duty metal stands.

The AC setup in Al Rawasi

  1. 1

    Large-capacity room, 20 to 30 cubic metres

Suits smaller warehouses and large wholesale shops in Al Rawasi needing moderate to substantial storage.

  2. 2

Massive-capacity room, 30 to 40 cubic metres or more

Serves large warehouses and major wholesale operations storing tons of food for several days.

  3. 3

Heavy-duty metal supports and industrial insulation

In an industrial environment with vibration and extreme heat, we use steel stands and panels with maximum insulation ratings.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Rawasi

  1. 1

Have the roof and foundations assessed beforehand

If your warehouse is older, get an engineering inspection of the roof and foundations before our visit to confirm weight capacity.

  2. 2

Confirm expected stock volume and daily turnover

Review your daily consumption rate and peak stock level before the visit to help us choose the right room size.

  3. 3

Check space and ventilation for the outdoor unit

Ensure adequate space on the roof or beside the warehouse, and that the unit will have full ventilation away from entrances and main air intakes.

FAQ

Questions about Cold room installation

How is the right cold room size worked out?

Size depends on the type and quantity of stock, how often fresh goods come in and how many times the door opens each day. These factors together set the dimensions and the cooling unit capacity needed, which is why we do not suggest a size before the site visit.

Where does the condensing unit go in a restaurant or warehouse?

The condensing unit needs enough air around it, distance from heat sources and a spot a technician can reach for servicing. We decide the best location at the site survey based on the building layout and how the space is used.

What happens to my stock if the power to the room cuts out?

A well-insulated room with a tight door holds its cold for a limited time if the door stays shut, and longer the thicker the insulation and the better the seal. So we choose the panel thickness and the door seal with care, and set the controller to raise an alarm when the temperature rises, so you can act before stock spoils.

What is the difference between this room and a freezer room?

A chiller room works above freezing and suits vegetables, medicines, dairy and baked goods. A freezer room works below freezing and needs thicker insulation, an insulated floor, a heated door frame and a defrost system. If you need freezing or a combined room, we offer that as a dedicated service.

Can a cold room be installed in a rented space without major structural changes?

In most cases yes. Insulated panels are assembled inside the existing space without demolition or construction work, and the condensing unit is fixed in a suitable spot the technician identifies at the survey. Ceiling type and building ventilation may affect the details, and we confirm those after seeing the site.

My warehouse stores large quantities of poultry and fish, what size room do I need?

We calculate your expected stock volume and daily turnover rate, and recommend a 25 to 35 cubic metre room or larger to fit your needs.

My warehouse is old and the roof may not support the outdoor unit's weight, what do you do?

We assess the roof and foundations before installation, and if weak, recommend heavy-duty metal stands on the ground, or we mount the unit on an external wall if possible.

The area is extremely hot and air circulation in the warehouse is difficult, does that affect the room?

We select a very powerful cooling unit and premium insulation panels, and recommend opening windows or additional vents away from the room to improve warehouse air circulation.

Surrounding workshops and warehouses generate vibrations, do they affect the room's performance?

We recommend mounting the outdoor unit on flexible stands that absorb vibration, and secure the panels tightly to minimise vibration transfer to the room.
