Who needs a specialist freezer room?

  1. 1

    Stock that needs sub-zero cold

Meat, poultry, fish and ice cream spoil if the temperature rises even briefly above the required level. A freezer room is built to hold that level continuously, not simply to cool.

  2. 2

    One room, two temperature zones

Large restaurants and hotels usually need a chiller section and a freezer section side by side. We build both wings with separate insulation, independent refrigeration units and an insulated inner door, so neither zone affects the other's temperature.

  3. 3

    Expanding an existing facility

If your current cold room no longer holds all your stock, or you need to add a freezer section beside it, we survey the site and propose the most practical way to expand with as little disruption to your operation as possible.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey

We visit the site, learn the stock type and required temperature, measure the available space, and decide the right insulation thickness and refrigeration system from what we find.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We draw the room layout including pipe and cable routes, then have the panels, doors and equipment ready before installation begins.

  3. 3

    Installation and connection

We fit the panels, insulated floor and door, then run and insulate the copper pipes, vacuum the line and pressure-test it before starting the system. Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints where the layout calls for it.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the system and watch the room reach its target temperature, confirm the defrost cycle works and the door seals properly, then explain the controls to the person responsible for the facility.

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.

What sets this district apart

Al Fanar is a modern district with contemporary buildings and wider architectural spaces, more exposed to sea currents, humidity and airborne salt. Shops here often specialise in sweets, pastries and ice cream that need very precise freezer-room temperature control to prevent moisture crystallisation and flavour breakdown. The base must resist the extra insulation and coastal salt, a warm door frame prevents freezing and surface condensation, and refrigerant lines need extra corrosion protection.

Al Fanar is in far north Jeddah, a modern coastal zone exposed to humidity and sea salt, full of restaurants and cafés.

Specialist sweet and ice-cream shops here need precision-grade refrigeration that maintains very steady temperature and low relative humidity.

The AC setup in Al Fanar

  1. 1

Precision freezer room for sweets and ice cream

Bakeries and sweet shops in Al Fanar need a room with very precise heat and humidity control, advanced drainage and high-efficiency refrigeration.

  2. 2

Updated insulation resisting sea salt and coastal humidity

Insulation here must be updated and capable of resisting sea salt and high humidity, with a very strong vapour barrier.

  3. 3

    Powerful refrigeration with corrosion-resistant piping

We choose a powerful compressor and coated copper piping to resist salt and rapid corrosion in the coastal environment.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Fanar

  1. 1

Ensure safe access for our team and heavy equipment

If the shop is between tower blocks or in a building complex, ensure there is wide enough access and nearby parking.

  2. 2

Identify strong power supply and safe drainage location

Tell us where the strongest electrical panel is and where drainage can go safely away from buildings and foundations.

  3. 3

Coordinate with building management for installation times

If the shop is in a residential or commercial complex, agree with us on times that do not disrupt residents or other traders.

FAQ

Questions about Cold & freezer room installation

Why does a freezer room need an insulated floor when a chiller often does not?

At sub-zero temperatures the moisture held in a concrete slab freezes and expands, cracking tiles and lifting bases over time. A chiller room operates above freezing, so ice crystals do not form in the slab. A freezer room therefore requires insulated panels under the floor together with a vapour barrier that blocks rising ground heat and protects the structure over the long term.

What is the difference between electric defrost and other types?

Electric defrost uses heating elements fixed inside the evaporator coil; they warm the coil directly and melt frost build-up. Hot-gas defrost instead redirects warm refrigerant from the compressor back through the same coil. The choice between the two depends on room size, the required number of cycles and the type of goods stored; the site survey determines which method suits each installation.

Can two zones at different temperatures share the same footprint?

Yes. A partition of insulated panels separates the space, with each side using a panel thickness matched to its required temperature differential. Each zone has its own refrigeration unit and a door with a heated frame to prevent condensation. This arrangement is widely used in meat and fish facilities that need a chiller zone for short-term stock and a freezer zone for longer storage. The final design depends on the available floor area and the heat load of each section.

Does the position of the condensing unit affect how the freezer room performs?

Position has a direct effect. The condensing unit needs clean air and adequate flow to reject heat; if it is placed in a confined space or near heat sources the condensing pressure rises and the compressor works harder. In Jeddah, outdoor air also carries salt and dust that accumulate on the condenser coil over time. The site survey identifies the best location and the copper-pipe route, keeping each Mueller copper pipe run within thirty metres without welded joints.

Ice cream and sweets here are sensitive to moisture and frost damage, how do you protect the room?

We install precision temperature and humidity control, advanced insulation and a strong warm door frame that prevents moisture and sea salt from entering.

Does sea salt affect the refrigeration equipment?

Yes, we choose salt-corrosion-resistant pipes and components, and provide more frequent maintenance because salt speeds up rust.

Coastal heat here is very high, does it affect temperature stability inside the room?

Yes, we choose thicker, stronger insulation and design a more powerful refrigeration system to handle the large gap between outside and inside temperatures.

Can you install a freezer room in a shop between tower blocks?

Yes, we design the room for tight spaces, with special coordination to bring in equipment and panels, and we agree with building management on suitable times.
