Who needs a specialist freezer room?

  1. 1

    Stock that needs sub-zero cold

Meat, poultry, fish and ice cream spoil if the temperature rises even briefly above the required level. A freezer room is built to hold that level continuously, not simply to cool.

  2. 2

    One room, two temperature zones

Large restaurants and hotels usually need a chiller section and a freezer section side by side. We build both wings with separate insulation, independent refrigeration units and an insulated inner door, so neither zone affects the other's temperature.

  3. 3

    Expanding an existing facility

If your current cold room no longer holds all your stock, or you need to add a freezer section beside it, we survey the site and propose the most practical way to expand with as little disruption to your operation as possible.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey

We visit the site, learn the stock type and required temperature, measure the available space, and decide the right insulation thickness and refrigeration system from what we find.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We draw the room layout including pipe and cable routes, then have the panels, doors and equipment ready before installation begins.

  3. 3

    Installation and connection

We fit the panels, insulated floor and door, then run and insulate the copper pipes, vacuum the line and pressure-test it before starting the system. Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints where the layout calls for it.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the system and watch the room reach its target temperature, confirm the defrost cycle works and the door seals properly, then explain the controls to the person responsible for the facility.

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Nakhil is a balanced residential zone with medium villas and apartment blocks, reasonable garden space and wide passages. Homes and flats here are slightly smaller than elite neighbourhoods up north, but modern with decent storage. Most residents seek a medium-sized cold room that does not hog precious floor space. Summer temperatures are high, but smart insulation and door design ensure efficiency and reasonable electricity bills.

Al Nakhil lies in east Jeddah, a balanced residential zone with medium villas and modern apartment blocks.

Cold and freezer rooms in Al Nakhil are usually medium-sized, 2.5 to 4 square metres, because villas and flats have reasonable but limited storage areas.

The AC setup in Al Nakhil

  1. 1

    Compact small cold room

Small flats and villas in Al Nakhil choose a compact cold room at 0 to 4 degrees Celsius, enough for daily needs.

  2. 2

    Separate medium freezer room

Medium families opt for a small separate freezer at minus 18 degrees for frozen goods and frozen vegetables.

  3. 3

Single unified room at moderate temperature

Some residents prefer a single room at a uniform temperature between 3 and 5 degrees Celsius, suitable for balanced storage of both meat and vegetables.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Nakhil

  1. 1

Measure the storage area and send a photo

Measure the length, width and height of the storage area or corner where you plan the room, and send a clear photo on WhatsApp so we can design accurately.

  2. 2

Check for a drain outlet nearby

The room will produce condensation, especially in hot summer. Check if there is a drain or floor outlet nearby where we can run the condensate pipes.

  3. 3

Coordinate with your neighbours or building management

If you are in an apartment block, notify the building management or neighbours about the installation date, especially if there will be work on walls or electrical runs.

FAQ

Questions about Cold & freezer room installation

Why does a freezer room need an insulated floor when a chiller often does not?

At sub-zero temperatures the moisture held in a concrete slab freezes and expands, cracking tiles and lifting bases over time. A chiller room operates above freezing, so ice crystals do not form in the slab. A freezer room therefore requires insulated panels under the floor together with a vapour barrier that blocks rising ground heat and protects the structure over the long term.

What is the difference between electric defrost and other types?

Electric defrost uses heating elements fixed inside the evaporator coil; they warm the coil directly and melt frost build-up. Hot-gas defrost instead redirects warm refrigerant from the compressor back through the same coil. The choice between the two depends on room size, the required number of cycles and the type of goods stored; the site survey determines which method suits each installation.

Can two zones at different temperatures share the same footprint?

Yes. A partition of insulated panels separates the space, with each side using a panel thickness matched to its required temperature differential. Each zone has its own refrigeration unit and a door with a heated frame to prevent condensation. This arrangement is widely used in meat and fish facilities that need a chiller zone for short-term stock and a freezer zone for longer storage. The final design depends on the available floor area and the heat load of each section.

Does the position of the condensing unit affect how the freezer room performs?

Position has a direct effect. The condensing unit needs clean air and adequate flow to reject heat; if it is placed in a confined space or near heat sources the condensing pressure rises and the compressor works harder. In Jeddah, outdoor air also carries salt and dust that accumulate on the condenser coil over time. The site survey identifies the best location and the copper-pipe route, keeping each Mueller copper pipe run within thirty metres without welded joints.

My flat is small, can you fit a room without blocking the entrance or hallway?

Yes, we design the room with tight dimensions to fit a corner of the store room or side passage. The door opens at 90 degrees and we leave enough clearance for movement.

My neighbourhood is middle-income, can you fit a room within budget?

We design a practical room with standard materials that do not compromise performance, and we match the size and insulation to your family's needs. Send us a photo of the storage area on WhatsApp and we will send a detailed quote later.

Summers are hot, what outdoor temperatures can the room handle?

A well-insulated room keeps cold even when outdoor temperatures hit 50 degrees Celsius, but internal temperature control depends on insulation thickness and coil efficiency. Annual coil servicing is essential.

The building is fairly old, can you work with older electrical wiring?

We inspect older wiring and assess its safety before installation. If the runs are weak, we advise upgrading the cable to the room. Most flats have space in the electrical panel for a separate circuit.
