Who needs a specialist freezer room?

  1. 1

    Stock that needs sub-zero cold

Meat, poultry, fish and ice cream spoil if the temperature rises even briefly above the required level. A freezer room is built to hold that level continuously, not simply to cool.

  2. 2

    One room, two temperature zones

Large restaurants and hotels usually need a chiller section and a freezer section side by side. We build both wings with separate insulation, independent refrigeration units and an insulated inner door, so neither zone affects the other's temperature.

  3. 3

    Expanding an existing facility

If your current cold room no longer holds all your stock, or you need to add a freezer section beside it, we survey the site and propose the most practical way to expand with as little disruption to your operation as possible.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey

We visit the site, learn the stock type and required temperature, measure the available space, and decide the right insulation thickness and refrigeration system from what we find.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We draw the room layout including pipe and cable routes, then have the panels, doors and equipment ready before installation begins.

  3. 3

    Installation and connection

We fit the panels, insulated floor and door, then run and insulate the copper pipes, vacuum the line and pressure-test it before starting the system. Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints where the layout calls for it.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the system and watch the room reach its target temperature, confirm the defrost cycle works and the door seals properly, then explain the controls to the person responsible for the facility.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Shurooq is a modern, fast-growing area with new hotels, restaurants, cafés, bakeries and shops with spacious floors. The buildings here are relatively new with good outdoor space and modern electrical systems, easing installation of outdoor units and runs. Freezer and chiller rooms in this area need advanced design to maintain stable temperatures for delicate products like pastries, dough and fresh goods, and to offer large storage volume for seasonal stock.

Al Shurooq is a modern east Jeddah area marked by hotels, restaurants and contemporary commerce in relatively new buildings.

Freezer and chiller rooms here are typically large and need powerful compressor units with long copper runs and advanced electronic control systems.

The AC setup in Al Shurooq

  1. 1

Large freezer room with powerful outdoor compressor

In Al Shurooq, large hotels and restaurants need spacious freezer rooms with powerful separate compressors to achieve very low temperatures.

  2. 2

Chiller room with uniform temperature for fresh ingredients

Restaurants and cafés need a separate chiller room with very uniform temperatures to preserve fresh ingredients, pastries and dough quality.

  3. 3

    Advanced electronic control systems

Modern rooms in Al Shurooq need precise electronic control systems that monitor, log and alert on any temperature deviation.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Shurooq

  1. 1

Specify exact locations for the room and outdoor unit

We need a clear map or drawing showing the room location and proposed outdoor unit site so we can calculate copper run length.

  2. 2

    Confirm adequate electrical capacity

Check with your engineer that your main panel has the capacity to add a separate heavy-duty circuit for the room.

  3. 3

Schedule installation with hotel or restaurant management

Installation may take several days, so agree with management on a date that does not disrupt daily operations.

FAQ

Questions about Cold & freezer room installation

Why does a freezer room need an insulated floor when a chiller often does not?

At sub-zero temperatures the moisture held in a concrete slab freezes and expands, cracking tiles and lifting bases over time. A chiller room operates above freezing, so ice crystals do not form in the slab. A freezer room therefore requires insulated panels under the floor together with a vapour barrier that blocks rising ground heat and protects the structure over the long term.

What is the difference between electric defrost and other types?

Electric defrost uses heating elements fixed inside the evaporator coil; they warm the coil directly and melt frost build-up. Hot-gas defrost instead redirects warm refrigerant from the compressor back through the same coil. The choice between the two depends on room size, the required number of cycles and the type of goods stored; the site survey determines which method suits each installation.

Can two zones at different temperatures share the same footprint?

Yes. A partition of insulated panels separates the space, with each side using a panel thickness matched to its required temperature differential. Each zone has its own refrigeration unit and a door with a heated frame to prevent condensation. This arrangement is widely used in meat and fish facilities that need a chiller zone for short-term stock and a freezer zone for longer storage. The final design depends on the available floor area and the heat load of each section.

Does the position of the condensing unit affect how the freezer room performs?

Position has a direct effect. The condensing unit needs clean air and adequate flow to reject heat; if it is placed in a confined space or near heat sources the condensing pressure rises and the compressor works harder. In Jeddah, outdoor air also carries salt and dust that accumulate on the condenser coil over time. The site survey identifies the best location and the copper-pipe route, keeping each Mueller copper pipe run within thirty metres without welded joints.

Do you install advanced chiller rooms for Al Shurooq's hotels and restaurants?

Yes, we cover all of Al Shurooq and install advanced chiller and freezer rooms with precision control systems for stable temperatures.

Our restaurant needs a large chiller for seasonal ingredient storage, can you handle that?

Yes, we design large, deep chiller rooms with sturdy flooring to bear heavy loads and uniform temperature control systems.

Al Shurooq gets very hot in summer, can the room handle the high outdoor temperatures?

Yes, we use very thick insulation and position the outdoor unit in shade as much as possible to reduce thermal load.

Can the room be linked to the hotel's alarm or monitoring system?

Yes, modern control systems can integrate with monitoring and alarm systems. We discuss integration requirements with you before installation.
