Who needs a specialist freezer room?

  1. 1

    Stock that needs sub-zero cold

Meat, poultry, fish and ice cream spoil if the temperature rises even briefly above the required level. A freezer room is built to hold that level continuously, not simply to cool.

  2. 2

    One room, two temperature zones

Large restaurants and hotels usually need a chiller section and a freezer section side by side. We build both wings with separate insulation, independent refrigeration units and an insulated inner door, so neither zone affects the other's temperature.

  3. 3

    Expanding an existing facility

If your current cold room no longer holds all your stock, or you need to add a freezer section beside it, we survey the site and propose the most practical way to expand with as little disruption to your operation as possible.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey

We visit the site, learn the stock type and required temperature, measure the available space, and decide the right insulation thickness and refrigeration system from what we find.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We draw the room layout including pipe and cable routes, then have the panels, doors and equipment ready before installation begins.

  3. 3

    Installation and connection

We fit the panels, insulated floor and door, then run and insulate the copper pipes, vacuum the line and pressure-test it before starting the system. Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints where the layout calls for it.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the system and watch the room reach its target temperature, confirm the defrost cycle works and the door seals properly, then explain the controls to the person responsible for the facility.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Madinat Al Sultan is a modern residential district with hotels, healthcare facilities and advanced commercial services, with carefully planned buildings and spaces. Many of the hotels, hospitals and food facilities here need freezer and chiller rooms to high hygiene standards and strict temperature control, especially hospitals that may store temperature-sensitive medicines or medical products alongside food. The design requires high precision in insulation, ventilation and drainage to ensure product safety and hygiene records.

Madinat Al Sultan, in south Jeddah, is a modern residential district with hotels and advanced healthcare facilities.

Most freezer and chiller rooms here are medium-sized with smart temperature control systems and precise data logging for hygiene record requirements.

The AC setup in Madinat Al Sultan

  1. 1

Medical chiller room to sterile standards

The room is fitted with sterile non-porous materials and sterile ventilation with HEPA filters, suitable for temperature-sensitive medicines and medical products.

  2. 2

Smart temperature control with data logging

Each room has a digital control unit that continuously records temperatures and sends alerts if they drift.

  3. 3

    Dual or multi-section room

Large hotels and hospitals may install a room with two or more sections, each at a different temperature for different product types.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Madinat Al Sultan

  1. 1

    Prepare kitchen or storage layout

Send us the kitchen or medical storage layout with exact measurements, the planned room location and nearby entrances.

  2. 2

    Confirm safety and hygiene requirements

Tell us about any special hygiene or regulatory requirements for the hotel or hospital, and where fire alarms and extinguishers are located.

  3. 3

    Ensure reliable electrical supply

Check that the electrical panel can supply a strong dedicated circuit, and hospitals may need an uninterruptible power supply (UPS).

FAQ

Questions about Cold & freezer room installation

Why does a freezer room need an insulated floor when a chiller often does not?

At sub-zero temperatures the moisture held in a concrete slab freezes and expands, cracking tiles and lifting bases over time. A chiller room operates above freezing, so ice crystals do not form in the slab. A freezer room therefore requires insulated panels under the floor together with a vapour barrier that blocks rising ground heat and protects the structure over the long term.

What is the difference between electric defrost and other types?

Electric defrost uses heating elements fixed inside the evaporator coil; they warm the coil directly and melt frost build-up. Hot-gas defrost instead redirects warm refrigerant from the compressor back through the same coil. The choice between the two depends on room size, the required number of cycles and the type of goods stored; the site survey determines which method suits each installation.

Can two zones at different temperatures share the same footprint?

Yes. A partition of insulated panels separates the space, with each side using a panel thickness matched to its required temperature differential. Each zone has its own refrigeration unit and a door with a heated frame to prevent condensation. This arrangement is widely used in meat and fish facilities that need a chiller zone for short-term stock and a freezer zone for longer storage. The final design depends on the available floor area and the heat load of each section.

Does the position of the condensing unit affect how the freezer room performs?

Position has a direct effect. The condensing unit needs clean air and adequate flow to reject heat; if it is placed in a confined space or near heat sources the condensing pressure rises and the compressor works harder. In Jeddah, outdoor air also carries salt and dust that accumulate on the condenser coil over time. The site survey identifies the best location and the copper-pipe route, keeping each Mueller copper pipe run within thirty metres without welded joints.

The hotel needs a room to very high hygiene standards, how do you ensure product safety?

We install smart temperature control with real-time monitoring and uniform temperatures, using antimicrobial interior materials with low porosity for easy cleaning and sterilisation.

Our hospital stores temperature-sensitive medicines, does the room meet medical storage standards?

Yes, we design a medical chiller with very precise temperatures and continuous auditable data logging, plus sterile ventilation with high-efficiency HEPA filters.

The hotel kitchen needs a two-zone room, how do you coordinate the zones?

We install a room with two separate zones on independent controls, so one maintains freezing temperature while the other stays at normal chilling temperature simultaneously.

Do we need backup temperature control for the hospital?

Yes, we recommend an advanced alert and alarm system with backup battery, and for large hospitals we may install a small secondary cooling unit as backup.
