Who needs a specialist freezer room?

  1. 1

    Stock that needs sub-zero cold

Meat, poultry, fish and ice cream spoil if the temperature rises even briefly above the required level. A freezer room is built to hold that level continuously, not simply to cool.

  2. 2

    One room, two temperature zones

Large restaurants and hotels usually need a chiller section and a freezer section side by side. We build both wings with separate insulation, independent refrigeration units and an insulated inner door, so neither zone affects the other's temperature.

  3. 3

    Expanding an existing facility

If your current cold room no longer holds all your stock, or you need to add a freezer section beside it, we survey the site and propose the most practical way to expand with as little disruption to your operation as possible.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey

We visit the site, learn the stock type and required temperature, measure the available space, and decide the right insulation thickness and refrigeration system from what we find.

  2. 2

    Design and supply

We draw the room layout including pipe and cable routes, then have the panels, doors and equipment ready before installation begins.

  3. 3

    Installation and connection

We fit the panels, insulated floor and door, then run and insulate the copper pipes, vacuum the line and pressure-test it before starting the system. Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints where the layout calls for it.

  4. 4

    Start-up and handover

We run the system and watch the room reach its target temperature, confirm the defrost cycle works and the door seals properly, then explain the controls to the person responsible for the facility.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.
  • An indoor AHU unit connected to round ductwork in a mechanical plant room, exposed concrete ceiling.

What sets this district apart

Quba is a growing district with a modern character, mixing residential buildings with commercial shops, small restaurants and warehouses. Buildings are usually well constructed, though some areas may have tight streets. Freezer rooms here need strong insulation to resist coastal heat and humidity. Water drainage from defrost cycles must be planned carefully because some buildings may have shallow foundations. We coordinate with the building or shop on a separate electrical circuit.

Quba is located in north-east Jeddah as a growing modern district mixing residential, commercial and small industrial buildings.

Most freezer rooms in Quba are small to mid-sized, installed in shops and restaurants with separate outdoor compressor units and simple water drainage.

The AC setup in Quba

  1. 1

Compact small room in the shop hall

Small shops in Quba have limited space, so we recommend a compact room sized to match daily stock.

  2. 2

Mid-sized room in a restaurant or warehouse

Restaurants and small warehouses in Quba provide more space, allowing a mid-sized room to be installed with more ease.

  3. 3

Outdoor compressor unit in a safe location

The outdoor unit is placed away from foot traffic and the main entrance, usually on the roof or a safe rear location.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Quba

  1. 1

Measure the space and give us the details

Measure length, width and height accurately and tell us about any obstacles, pipes or columns in the space.

  2. 2

Point out power and drainage locations

Tell us the nearest electrical box and drainage point location so the team can plan connections accurately.

  3. 3

Coordinate installation timing with the shop or restaurant

Agree with the shop or restaurant owner on the best installation time without disrupting working hours.

FAQ

Questions about Cold & freezer room installation

Why does a freezer room need an insulated floor when a chiller often does not?

At sub-zero temperatures the moisture held in a concrete slab freezes and expands, cracking tiles and lifting bases over time. A chiller room operates above freezing, so ice crystals do not form in the slab. A freezer room therefore requires insulated panels under the floor together with a vapour barrier that blocks rising ground heat and protects the structure over the long term.

What is the difference between electric defrost and other types?

Electric defrost uses heating elements fixed inside the evaporator coil; they warm the coil directly and melt frost build-up. Hot-gas defrost instead redirects warm refrigerant from the compressor back through the same coil. The choice between the two depends on room size, the required number of cycles and the type of goods stored; the site survey determines which method suits each installation.

Can two zones at different temperatures share the same footprint?

Yes. A partition of insulated panels separates the space, with each side using a panel thickness matched to its required temperature differential. Each zone has its own refrigeration unit and a door with a heated frame to prevent condensation. This arrangement is widely used in meat and fish facilities that need a chiller zone for short-term stock and a freezer zone for longer storage. The final design depends on the available floor area and the heat load of each section.

Does the position of the condensing unit affect how the freezer room performs?

Position has a direct effect. The condensing unit needs clean air and adequate flow to reject heat; if it is placed in a confined space or near heat sources the condensing pressure rises and the compressor works harder. In Jeddah, outdoor air also carries salt and dust that accumulate on the condenser coil over time. The site survey identifies the best location and the copper-pipe route, keeping each Mueller copper pipe run within thirty metres without welded joints.

The shop is small, can a compact freezer room fit?

Yes, we design the room to fit your available space. Even small shops can have a compact, well-insulated, adequately cooled room.

The passages are tight in parts of Quba, how do you get heavy equipment in?

We agree with you on the nearest loading point before the visit. If passages are very tight, we may disassemble some room parts and reassemble them at the installation site.

Quba is close to the sea, does extra humidity affect the room's performance?

Yes, coastal humidity is present in Quba. That is why we choose thick insulation, a powerful compressor and design drainage carefully to prevent moisture accumulation inside.

The shop has power spread across several loads, is a separate circuit really necessary?

Yes, essential. The freezer room needs its own circuit with adequate capacity to prevent shutdowns when other shop equipment is in use.
