Who needs a new cold room?

  1. 1

Restaurant or bakery expanding its store

Your current storage cannot hold the quantities you need, or you are relying on domestic fridges that are not up to the job. A purpose-built cold room keeps ingredients at a steady temperature and cuts waste caused by temperature swings.

  2. 2

Pharmacy or clinic needing medical storage

Medicines, vaccines and sensitive medical supplies need a temperature that does not shift when the door opens or when Jeddah's summer heat peaks. We build the room to suit that use and choose the condensing unit after the site survey.

  3. 3

Warehouse or grocery starting from scratch

You are fitting out your premises and want a cold room built in from the start, or you want to convert part of a warehouse into one. The site, the daily stock volume and how often the door opens all shape the right specification, and we work that out with you at the survey.

Who it's for

  • Opening a bakery and need ingredient storage

We survey your allocated space and build a cold room sized to your daily production volume, from insulated panels to the temperature controller.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Site survey

The technician visits, measures the available space and asks about your stock type, quantities and daily use to set the room dimensions and the capacity the unit needs.

  2. 2

    Panels and door

We fit the insulated wall and ceiling panels and seal every joint, then hang the cold room door in its frame and check that the seal presses evenly on all four sides.

  3. 3

    Cooling unit and pipework

We mount the condensing unit where it has enough air, fit the evaporator inside the room, and run Mueller copper in runs of up to 30 metres without welded joints, fully insulated to reduce heat gain.

  4. 4

    Vacuum, start-up, handover

We vacuum the copper line and test joints before starting the unit, then set the temperature controller and confirm the room reaches the target temperature before handing over.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Jawharat Thuwal is a remote, beachfront district at Jeddah's far north, with hotels, clubs, events venues and luxury resorts in spacious, modern buildings. Buildings here are new and strong, with generous floor space, high roofs and large rear areas. However, the distance from central Jeddah means unexpected repairs or emergency maintenance may take longer to reach you. Coastal humidity and salt in the air are intense, making copper tubing and connections corrode faster. We prioritise high-grade insulation and piping, and recommend a regular, comprehensive maintenance plan.

Jawharat Thuwal lies at Jeddah's far northern coast, a district of luxury resorts, hotels and modern beach parks.

Cold rooms here are typically medium to large, serving upscale hotel and restaurant kitchens, with outdoor units mounted on strong high roofs or spacious rear areas away from the shore.

The AC setup in Jawharat Thuwal

  1. 1

    Upscale sealed hotel cold room

Jawharat Thuwal's upscale hotels and resorts invest in sealed cold rooms with superior insulation, large-diameter piping and precise temperature control.

  2. 2

Powerful outdoor unit with salt protection

Outdoor units here are selected for high salt and coastal humidity resistance, mounted with good ventilation away from the immediate shoreline.

  3. 3

    Immediate thermal alert system

Hotel cold rooms need an alarm system to alert staff and technicians immediately if temperature drifts from the setpoint.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Jawharat Thuwal

  1. 1

Alert us early about location and remoteness

Tell us the exact hotel or resort location and distance from central Jeddah, so we plan adequate time for installation and first maintenance.

  2. 2

    Identify easy team access point

Ensure clear access points and suitable parking for our team when arriving at the site.

  3. 3

Agree on preventive maintenance schedule from the start

Given the location and coastal salt, agree with us on a preventive schedule (for example, every six weeks) before installation begins.

FAQ

Questions about Cold room installation

How is the right cold room size worked out?

Size depends on the type and quantity of stock, how often fresh goods come in and how many times the door opens each day. These factors together set the dimensions and the cooling unit capacity needed, which is why we do not suggest a size before the site visit.

Where does the condensing unit go in a restaurant or warehouse?

The condensing unit needs enough air around it, distance from heat sources and a spot a technician can reach for servicing. We decide the best location at the site survey based on the building layout and how the space is used.

What happens to my stock if the power to the room cuts out?

A well-insulated room with a tight door holds its cold for a limited time if the door stays shut, and longer the thicker the insulation and the better the seal. So we choose the panel thickness and the door seal with care, and set the controller to raise an alarm when the temperature rises, so you can act before stock spoils.

What is the difference between this room and a freezer room?

A chiller room works above freezing and suits vegetables, medicines, dairy and baked goods. A freezer room works below freezing and needs thicker insulation, an insulated floor, a heated door frame and a defrost system. If you need freezing or a combined room, we offer that as a dedicated service.

Can a cold room be installed in a rented space without major structural changes?

In most cases yes. Insulated panels are assembled inside the existing space without demolition or construction work, and the condensing unit is fixed in a suitable spot the technician identifies at the survey. Ceiling type and building ventilation may affect the details, and we confirm those after seeing the site.

Does intense coastal humidity and salt damage cold rooms?

Yes, strongly. Salt and humidity accelerate rust on copper tubing, condenser and metal parts. We use premium-grade copper with moisture-resistant insulation, and recommend inspections and cleaning every two months.

The location is remote from central Jeddah, how do you handle emergency maintenance?

We provide a direct hotline for emergencies and aim to reach you as quickly as possible. We strongly recommend a regular preventive maintenance plan to minimise sudden breakdowns.

Does the combination of heat, salt and humidity affect the outdoor unit choice?

Yes, we select outdoor units with salt and humidity-resistant materials, typically advanced ratings from reliable brands. We ensure good ventilation around the unit to reduce salt accumulation.

The resort is remote and a breakdown would be very disruptive, what do you suggest?

We recommend upgrading insulation and piping quality, installing a thermal alarm to alert you immediately of any drift, and six-weekly preventive visits to significantly reduce problems.
