Cold rooms kept running

Cold rooms in Al Aziziyah

In Al Aziziyah, central Jeddah, Alrabih serves cold rooms in hotels, restaurants, food shops and storage units. When a room loses temperature, we identify the fault in the evaporator, controller or seal, and restore temperature stability to protect stock from spoilage.

When your cold room needs attention

  1. 1

    Room not holding temperature

The temperature climbs slowly even though the unit keeps running, or the products inside are warmer than they should be. The cause could be the evaporator, condensing unit, refrigerant level or controller, and only a site check tells which.

  2. 2

    Evaporator icing up and stopping

Ice builds on the evaporator until airflow stops and cooling fails. The cause is usually in the defrost circuit, its sensor or the evaporator fan. Jeddah's humid air speeds up icing when anything in that circuit is not working correctly.

  3. 3

    Door letting cold air escape

A worn or deformed door seal lets warm humid air in, overloading the refrigeration unit and speeding up evaporator icing. If the door frame heater has failed, moisture builds on the frame and the door becomes hard to open.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what you see: the temperature showing on the controller, whether the unit is running or not, and the type of stock inside the room.

  2. 2

    Site check and diagnosis

The technician checks the evaporator, condensing unit, defrost circuit, controller and door seal, then identifies the actual cause of the temperature loss before starting any work.

  3. 3

    Repair and replacement

We fix what the diagnosis found: clean the evaporator, repair the defrost circuit, replace the seal or adjust the refrigerant charge to the type written on the unit nameplate.

  4. 4

    Test and handover

We run the room and watch the temperature until it reaches the set value, confirm the alarm and controller are working, then hand you a report of what was done.

What sets this district apart

Al Aziziyah is a busy central zone with hotels, restaurants, supermarkets and food storage in mixed-use high-rise buildings and relatively wider streets than old downtown. Cold rooms here vary widely in size and type, from small kitchen rooms in restaurants to large basement storage blocks. The high coastal humidity causes rapid corrosion of metal parts and digital controllers, and the workload is intense because hotels and restaurants run round the clock, so regular maintenance and periodic inspections of the controller and compressor are critical.

Al Aziziyah lies in central Jeddah, a mixed commercial, hospitality and residential zone with high-rise buildings and relatively wide streets.

Cold rooms here range from small units in restaurants and hotels to large basement storage blocks, most equipped with modern digital controllers.

The AC setup in Al Aziziyah

  1. 1

Small cold room in restaurant kitchen

Small restaurants and hotels use a compact cold room integrated into the ground or lower floor with medium capacity and easy maintenance access.

  2. 2

    Large basement cold storage unit

Large hotels and supermarkets operate substantial basement cold storage with high capacity and dual-protection controller systems.

  3. 3

    Centralised cooling for multiple rooms

Some hotel and commercial complexes use a single central cooling unit distributed to several rooms via one refrigeration line.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Aziziyah

  1. 1

Tell us where the outdoor unit and roof access is

In high-rises, the outdoor unit is usually on the roof. Let us know if the roof is secured or if there are safety barriers we need to be aware of.

  2. 2

Coordinate with management or the restaurant owner

If the room is time-sensitive (busy restaurant, hotel), notify management in advance so we can avoid service disruptions.

  3. 3

List any recent problems or warning signs

Tell us if the temperature fluctuates, if you hear unusual sounds from the compressor, or if the controller has shown error messages.

FAQ

Questions about Cold rooms

Why does the temperature rise even though the unit runs all the time?

Continuous running does not mean correct operation. Common causes include a refrigerant leak that reduces the charge, heavy frost on the evaporator coil blocking airflow, or a fault in the rooftop condensing unit raising head pressure. A site survey identifies the actual cause before any work begins.

How do I know if the defrost cycle is working properly?

Clear signs of a defrost fault include thick frost covering the full evaporator coil, a gradual temperature rise while the unit keeps running, and water pooling on the floor instead of draining away. The check covers the heater element, the defrost sensor and the controller, as the fault can lie in any of these parts.

What does a preventive visit for a cold room cover?

A preventive visit covers a pressure check on the refrigeration circuit, cleaning the condenser and evaporator coils, inspecting door seals and frame heaters, testing the controller and alarm, and checking copper pipe connections. The aim is to find a developing fault before it affects the room temperature and the stock inside.

What is the difference between a preventive visit and a repair visit?

A preventive visit is carried out on a unit that is running normally: the purpose is inspection, cleaning and finding early signs of wear before they become a breakdown. A repair visit is requested when an actual fault appears, such as a rising temperature, a stopped compressor or excessive coil icing. Diagnosis comes first, then the required work is defined.

Does Jeddah's rooftop heat affect the condensing unit's performance?

Yes. In summer, Jeddah rooftop surfaces reach very high temperatures, which raises condensing pressure, stresses the compressor and reduces cooling capacity. Regular cleaning of the condenser coil to remove the dust and salt that cling to the fins is essential, not optional. A site survey determines whether the unit's position or the airflow around it is making the problem worse.

My hotel in Al Aziziyah has a cold room failure at night, is there emergency service?

We work Saturday to Thursday, 8 am to 8 pm. If the failure is outside these hours, message us the details on WhatsApp and we will prioritise you at the start of the next shift.

My restaurant is near the coast with high humidity, does this damage the cold room?

Yes, coastal humidity causes rapid corrosion of metal parts and the digital controller. We inspect the controller and compressor every two months and replace damaged parts before failure occurs.

The restaurant runs 24/7 and the cold room never stops, does continuous use shorten its life?

Intensive use increases stress on the compressor and controller, but monthly maintenance keeps the unit performing well and significantly extends its lifespan.

The digital controller is old, can it be upgraded to a newer model?

Yes, we assess the old controller and recommend a modern model suited to your room's capacity, then install it and test it thoroughly before handover.
