When your cold room needs attention

  1. 1

    Room not holding temperature

The temperature climbs slowly even though the unit keeps running, or the products inside are warmer than they should be. The cause could be the evaporator, condensing unit, refrigerant level or controller, and only a site check tells which.

  2. 2

    Evaporator icing up and stopping

Ice builds on the evaporator until airflow stops and cooling fails. The cause is usually in the defrost circuit, its sensor or the evaporator fan. Jeddah's humid air speeds up icing when anything in that circuit is not working correctly.

  3. 3

    Door letting cold air escape

A worn or deformed door seal lets warm humid air in, overloading the refrigeration unit and speeding up evaporator icing. If the door frame heater has failed, moisture builds on the frame and the door becomes hard to open.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Describe the fault

WhatsApp us what you see: the temperature showing on the controller, whether the unit is running or not, and the type of stock inside the room.

  2. 2

    Site check and diagnosis

The technician checks the evaporator, condensing unit, defrost circuit, controller and door seal, then identifies the actual cause of the temperature loss before starting any work.

  3. 3

    Repair and replacement

We fix what the diagnosis found: clean the evaporator, repair the defrost circuit, replace the seal or adjust the refrigerant charge to the type written on the unit nameplate.

  4. 4

    Test and handover

We run the room and watch the temperature until it reaches the set value, confirm the alarm and controller are working, then hand you a report of what was done.

What sets this district apart

Al Barakah is a residential and commercial district with relatively modern buildings, wide roofs and open facades, offering multiple options for mounting outdoor refrigeration units. Shops, restaurants and warehouses here vary in size, with cold rooms serving moderate to medium needs depending on the operation scale. The district is relatively new with good infrastructure, making maintenance and quick repairs easy, and regular checks prevent sudden breakdowns affecting business.

Al Barakah is in south Jeddah, a modern residential-commercial district with clean buildings and available roofs.

Cold rooms here range from small to medium units with appropriately sized evaporators and outdoor condensers on clean, safe roofs.

The AC setup in Al Barakah

  1. 1

Units ranging from small to medium

Small shops have compact units, while larger warehouses and restaurants rely on medium units with higher capacity on safe roofs.

  2. 2

    Flexibility in mounting options

Wide roofs and open facades in Al Barakah offer multiple safe, easy options for placing outdoor units.

  3. 3

    Digital and mechanical controllers

Modern units here usually have digital controllers with clear temperature displays, while older ones use reliable simple mechanical ones.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Barakah

  1. 1

    Ensure safe roof access

Roofs here are generally safe, but check the stairs and walkways are clear and tell us about any obstacles beforehand.

  2. 2

Clear around the cold room door

We need enough space around the door to check the seal and closure, especially if the room is in a busy shop area.

  3. 3

Tell us about any future expansion plans

If you plan to add more cold rooms later, let us know so we consider future roof space and electrical capacity.

FAQ

Questions about Cold rooms

Why does the temperature rise even though the unit runs all the time?

Continuous running does not mean correct operation. Common causes include a refrigerant leak that reduces the charge, heavy frost on the evaporator coil blocking airflow, or a fault in the rooftop condensing unit raising head pressure. A site survey identifies the actual cause before any work begins.

How do I know if the defrost cycle is working properly?

Clear signs of a defrost fault include thick frost covering the full evaporator coil, a gradual temperature rise while the unit keeps running, and water pooling on the floor instead of draining away. The check covers the heater element, the defrost sensor and the controller, as the fault can lie in any of these parts.

What does a preventive visit for a cold room cover?

A preventive visit covers a pressure check on the refrigeration circuit, cleaning the condenser and evaporator coils, inspecting door seals and frame heaters, testing the controller and alarm, and checking copper pipe connections. The aim is to find a developing fault before it affects the room temperature and the stock inside.

What is the difference between a preventive visit and a repair visit?

A preventive visit is carried out on a unit that is running normally: the purpose is inspection, cleaning and finding early signs of wear before they become a breakdown. A repair visit is requested when an actual fault appears, such as a rising temperature, a stopped compressor or excessive coil icing. Diagnosis comes first, then the required work is defined.

Does Jeddah's rooftop heat affect the condensing unit's performance?

Yes. In summer, Jeddah rooftop surfaces reach very high temperatures, which raises condensing pressure, stresses the compressor and reduces cooling capacity. Regular cleaning of the condenser coil to remove the dust and salt that cling to the fins is essential, not optional. A site survey determines whether the unit's position or the airflow around it is making the problem worse.

Can I run two cold rooms from one condenser to cut costs?

Yes, but it needs careful balancing of separate temperature controls for each room, which we assess on site based on your needs.

The district is new with strong electrical infrastructure, does that give me more flexibility?

Yes, modern infrastructure allows stronger, safer connections, but we confirm the dedicated breaker has enough capacity for the full unit load.

Shops here are large and busy, can the cold room handle constant door cycles?

Yes, but repeated door cycles stress the compressor, so we ensure the seal is excellent and the evaporator is at full strength.

Can I monitor the cold room's temperature remotely via an app?

Some modern units support remote digital monitoring, but it depends on the controller type, which we discuss with you based on what is available.
