When your display fridge needs attention

  1. 1

    Glass fogs or sweats

In Jeddah's humid air and air-conditioned shops, moisture collects on the door glass or thick frost builds up. The cause is usually the door frame heater resistance or the door seal; the site decides which.

  2. 2

    Stock spoiling or uneven temperatures

If upper shelves are warmer than lower ones, or open multideck zones read outside the required range, a fan fault or blocked cold-air path is likely. We measure shelf temperatures along the cabinet and find where the fault lies.

  3. 3

Hot condenser in a poorly cooled shop

A display cabinet throws a lot of heat into the shop floor. When the shop's cooling is insufficient, the condenser air temperature rises, the compressor works harder and the cabinet loses its chill. The fix starts with assessing the cabinet's location and the ventilation around it.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp a photo of the cabinet, your district and a brief description of the problem; the team can prepare the right tools before the visit.

  2. 2

    Site survey and measurement

The technician measures shelf temperatures, inspects the condenser, fans, air curtain and door seals, and reviews the ventilation around the cabinet before touching anything.

  3. 3

    Diagnosis and explanation

After measuring we tell you exactly what is wrong and what needs to be done, and you approve the work before the technician starts.

  4. 4

    Repair and verify

We fix the fault, then re-measure shelf temperatures and verify the air curtain, lighting and fans before leaving the shop.

What sets this district apart

Al Hijaz is a mix of small shops, restaurants and cafés spread across a relatively wide area with scattered residential buildings, enjoying better airflow than the old quarters but facing intense summer heat. Display units here work under constant heavy load all day, and dust and humidity degrade the condenser quickly, raising the risk of fogged glass and uneven shelf temperatures.

Al Hijaz lies in east Jeddah, a mixed commercial and residential area with scattered shops, restaurants and cafés spread across wider open space.

Most display units here are standalone cabinets without central refrigeration, each with its own outdoor condenser on the shop roof or rear wall.

The AC setup in Al Hijaz

  1. 1

Standalone display units with outdoor condensers

Most shops and restaurants in Al Hijaz own standalone units, each with its own condenser on the roof or rear wall away from customers.

  2. 2

Small display units in cafés and coffee shops

Cafés and coffee shops here use compact units to display beverages and pastries, needing frequent checks of the air curtain and glass clarity.

  3. 3

Independent refrigeration systems in larger retailers

Larger retailers and restaurants may own multiple display units, each running independently and needing regular maintenance.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Hijaz

  1. 1

Switch off power before our visit

For safety, switch off the unit's power before the team arrives, or tell us where the circuit breaker is located.

  2. 2

Clear the space around the unit

Make sure there is enough space around the unit for the team to work comfortably, especially if it is wedged between shelves or furniture.

  3. 3

List any specific problems you want addressed

Tell us before the visit about specific issues like fogging or uneven cooling so we can focus the inspection properly.

FAQ

Questions about Display fridges & chillers

Why does thick frost build up on open multideck shelves?

An open multideck relies on a cold air curtain to keep shop air out. If the fan weakens or nearby AC airflow deflects the curtain, shop humidity enters the cabinet and frost builds. We check fan speed, air curtain direction and temperature at several points along the cabinet to find exactly where the fault is.

Does shop temperature affect how the display fridge performs?

Yes, and in Jeddah this is more noticeable in summer when the heat load rises. The condenser rejects heat into shop air; when that air is warm, the compressor works harder and shelf temperatures rise. We assess the cabinet's position and its distance from AC supply diffusers as part of the survey.

The cabinet lighting is dim or flickering; is that something you handle?

Yes, cabinet lighting is part of the service. Internal lighting matters to how your product looks, and a wiring fault there can affect other circuits. We check the wiring and driver and replace the faulty component as part of the job.

My display fridge is an unfamiliar brand; can you still work on it?

Display cabinet faults are mostly common across brands: refrigeration circuit, fan, air curtain, door seal, frame heater. We diagnose by measurement, not by brand. If a replacement part is needed we tell you before going further and you decide.

Can a new display cabinet be installed in an existing shop?

Yes, but the site decides what is needed. We assess the electrical supply, drain route and cabinet position relative to AC diffusers before installation; where the cabinet sits affects the air curtain and the shop's overall cooling load. The survey sets out exactly what is required before any work begins.

My display fridge is fogging up and products are hard to see, what causes this?

Fogging usually comes from a weakened condenser or an air curtain leak, both of which hurt customer appeal. We clean the condenser and fans and check the curtain to restore clarity.

Products on the top shelves are colder than the bottom ones, is this normal?

No, shelf temperatures should be even throughout. This usually comes from weak or blocked distribution fans. We check fan speed and air paths to balance the temperature across all shelves.

Summer heat in Al Hijaz is intense, does it affect the fridge's efficiency?

Yes, high temperatures and summer humidity put strain on the condenser and fans, and dust builds up faster on them. Regular condenser checks and scheduled maintenance are essential in these conditions.

The outdoor condenser is on my shop roof, how do you inspect it safely?

We inspect the roof safely and confirm it is accessible before the visit. Let us know if access is difficult so we come prepared and coordinate with you.
