When your display fridge needs attention

  1. 1

    Glass fogs or sweats

In Jeddah's humid air and air-conditioned shops, moisture collects on the door glass or thick frost builds up. The cause is usually the door frame heater resistance or the door seal; the site decides which.

  2. 2

    Stock spoiling or uneven temperatures

If upper shelves are warmer than lower ones, or open multideck zones read outside the required range, a fan fault or blocked cold-air path is likely. We measure shelf temperatures along the cabinet and find where the fault lies.

  3. 3

Hot condenser in a poorly cooled shop

A display cabinet throws a lot of heat into the shop floor. When the shop's cooling is insufficient, the condenser air temperature rises, the compressor works harder and the cabinet loses its chill. The fix starts with assessing the cabinet's location and the ventilation around it.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Send a photo

WhatsApp a photo of the cabinet, your district and a brief description of the problem; the team can prepare the right tools before the visit.

  2. 2

    Site survey and measurement

The technician measures shelf temperatures, inspects the condenser, fans, air curtain and door seals, and reviews the ventilation around the cabinet before touching anything.

  3. 3

    Diagnosis and explanation

After measuring we tell you exactly what is wrong and what needs to be done, and you approve the work before the technician starts.

  4. 4

    Repair and verify

We fix the fault, then re-measure shelf temperatures and verify the air curtain, lighting and fans before leaving the shop.

What sets this district apart

Al Ghawla is a vibrant district with high concentrations of restaurants, cafés and small to mid-sized shops, each with one or more display chillers running from dawn to late evening. This intensive use means the condenser and fan clog quickly from dust and coastal humidity, and the compressor endures constant load. The streets around these cafés and restaurants are busy too, so we must schedule maintenance carefully to minimise disruption to trade.

Al Ghawla sits in east Jeddah, a lively commercial zone packed with restaurants, cafés and shops at high density.

Most display chillers in Al Ghawla's restaurants and cafés are horizontal or angled models with clear glass doors.

The AC setup in Al Ghawla

  1. 1

Horizontal and angled display chillers with glass doors

Cafés and restaurants in Al Ghawla prefer horizontal and angled models to showcase beverages and pastries within easy reach of customers.

  2. 2

Outdoor units in tight rear courtyards

Outdoor units often sit in tight rear courtyards behind cafés and restaurants, which cuts the air flow around the condenser.

  3. 3

    Multiple chillers at one location

Large restaurants and cafés keep two or more display chillers, so comprehensive servicing saves time and effort.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Ghawla

  1. 1

Set the visit time for slowest hours

Choose a visit time when the café or restaurant is quietest to minimise business disruption, and let us know this in advance.

  2. 2

Confirm access to the rear courtyard

Make sure our team can easily reach the rear courtyard where the outdoor unit is, and clear any equipment or materials from the passages.

  3. 3

Brief your staff about the maintenance visit

Tell all staff about the maintenance date so they don't switch off the chiller or use it during our inspection.

FAQ

Questions about Display fridges & chillers

Why does thick frost build up on open multideck shelves?

An open multideck relies on a cold air curtain to keep shop air out. If the fan weakens or nearby AC airflow deflects the curtain, shop humidity enters the cabinet and frost builds. We check fan speed, air curtain direction and temperature at several points along the cabinet to find exactly where the fault is.

Does shop temperature affect how the display fridge performs?

Yes, and in Jeddah this is more noticeable in summer when the heat load rises. The condenser rejects heat into shop air; when that air is warm, the compressor works harder and shelf temperatures rise. We assess the cabinet's position and its distance from AC supply diffusers as part of the survey.

The cabinet lighting is dim or flickering; is that something you handle?

Yes, cabinet lighting is part of the service. Internal lighting matters to how your product looks, and a wiring fault there can affect other circuits. We check the wiring and driver and replace the faulty component as part of the job.

My display fridge is an unfamiliar brand; can you still work on it?

Display cabinet faults are mostly common across brands: refrigeration circuit, fan, air curtain, door seal, frame heater. We diagnose by measurement, not by brand. If a replacement part is needed we tell you before going further and you decide.

Can a new display cabinet be installed in an existing shop?

Yes, but the site decides what is needed. We assess the electrical supply, drain route and cabinet position relative to AC diffusers before installation; where the cabinet sits affects the air curtain and the shop's overall cooling load. The survey sets out exactly what is required before any work begins.

My café's display chiller has a weak air curtain, what is the fix?

A weak air curtain happens when the fan is dirty or damaged. We inspect and clean the fan and condenser, or replace parts if needed.

These streets are always crowded, how can you service without major disruption?

We choose a time that suits the café or restaurant's slowest hours, and we coordinate in advance so the team is ready and works swiftly.

Coastal humidity affects the display chiller, do we need more frequent servicing?

Yes, coastal humidity and salt air accelerate wear on the condenser and compressor, so we recommend servicing every month or two instead of longer intervals.

The outdoor unit sits in a tight rear yard behind the café, does that affect cooling?

Yes, a tight space cuts air flow around the unit and raises the heat around it, so cooling drops. We check that the area is clear and air circulates freely.
