Dedicated duct workshop

Duct fabrication in Al Shati

In Al Shati, north Jeddah, the central AC ductwork in modern villas and residential compounds needs precise fabrication. Alrabih fabricates rectangular and round duct in its workshop from G90 galvanized or aluminium sheet, measured from site or drawings, so it arrives ready to hang with no air leakage at the joints.

Who needs workshop-fabricated duct?

  1. 1

    A contractor with project-specific sizes

Your project has non-standard sizes or volumes too large for site cutting. We fabricate rectangular and round sections from your drawings at exact dimensions, labelled and ready to hang when they reach the site.

  2. 2

Fittings too awkward to cut on site

Elbows, transitions, offsets and takeoffs come out distorted when cut by hand on site, leaking air and creating noise in the line. We make them in the workshop at the right dimensions with tight seams.

  3. 3

Extending or renovating an existing duct network

You need new branches, a damaged section replaced or a fitting that matches an old duct size. We measure the existing network on site and fabricate the pieces to match what is already there.

Who it's for

  • Building a facility that needs non-standard duct sizes

We read your project drawings and fabricate all sections and fittings at exact dimensions from G90 or aluminium sheet, labelled and ready to hang the moment they reach your site.

How we work

How we work

  1. 1

    Take measurements

A technician visits the site or you send us the drawings; we list every duct section needed, its size and the correct sheet thickness for that section.

  2. 2

    Fabricate sections and fittings

We cut, form and lock the sheet in the workshop, including all elbows, transitions, offsets and takeoffs, and each section comes out at its exact dimension.

  3. 3

    Label and prepare for delivery

We number every section and fitting against the assembly plan so the installation crew knows exactly where each piece goes, with no guessing on site.

  4. 4

    Deliver to site

We deliver the duct to your Jeddah site protected and ready to hang. If you need an installation crew, we can arrange that as a separate step.

Some of our work

Ductwork, rooftop units and diffusers, from work we've completed in Jeddah.

  • Galvanized rectangular duct trunk with branch takeoffs and round diffusers, hung from a black ceiling, a Carrier unit visible behind — interior finishing stage.
  • Round diffusers and a spiral duct trunk in a tiled stairwell service shaft.
  • Rooftop ductwork and an exhaust fan, with Jeddah buildings in the background.
  • Rooftop packaged AC units with rectangular duct transitions, city buildings behind.
  • Insulated rooftop duct run beside a packaged unit, a warehouse roof in the background.
  • A grid of round diffusers in an open-plan office ceiling, mid-construction.
  • An insulated rooftop duct elbow, against a mountainous backdrop.
  • Large insulated ductwork running along a factory ceiling, with workers visible below.
  • A yellow round diffuser mid-installation, with spiral duct and a suspended ceiling grid.
  • Duct insulation wrap in progress on a construction site, bare duct still exposed.
  • A black-painted duct trunk with round diffusers and track lighting, in a finished retail interior.

What sets this district apart

Al Shati's northern districts feature modern villas and planned residential compounds with wide plots and high ceilings, most built with central AC distributed through comprehensive ductwork. On-site hand-fabricated duct cannot achieve precise dimensions or support complex fittings correctly, whereas workshop-made duct fits the large spaces and high ceilings and maintains even airflow distribution with no loss.

Al Shati is a modern district in north Jeddah with villas and residential compounds laid out in regular plots with wide open spaces.

Most villas and compounds in Al Shati use central AC with distributed ductwork, not separate split units.

The AC setup in Al Shati

  1. 1

    Central ductwork distributed through villas

Modern villas in Al Shati rely on central ductwork covering all rooms, requiring high precision in fabrication to ensure even air distribution.

  2. 2

    Complex transitions between floors

High ceilings, horizontal expansions and transitions between floors require precisely calculated elbows, returns and offsets fabricated in the workshop.

  3. 3

Round and rectangular sections suited to each space

Some parts of the network may use simple round duct, while others need rectangular sections to fit tight spaces under ceilings or within walls.

Before the visit

Before our visit in Al Shati

  1. 1

Site measurement or prepare the drawings

Either have our team measure the runs and turns in the villa or compound, or send us the engineering drawings in advance if they are available.

  2. 2

Ensure access to ceilings and wall cavities

Make sure the team can reach the drop ceilings, wall cavities and interstitial spaces where the ductwork will run.

  3. 3

Identify the indoor and outdoor unit locations

Mark where the outdoor unit will be mounted (usually on the roof or external area) and the indoor unit (usually in a plant room or corridor), to map the main duct run.

FAQ

Questions about Duct fabrication

Can you fabricate from drawings without visiting the site?

Yes, when the drawings are clear and carry the actual as-built dimensions. If a dimension is uncertain or a field change has been made, we prefer a site visit to avoid a fabricated piece that does not fit. We discuss the better approach with you before starting work.

What is the difference between galvanized and aluminium sheet for duct?

G90 galvanized sheet is the standard choice for interior duct: strong and suited to a range of pressures. Aluminium is lighter and handles Jeddah's coastal humidity and salt air better, making it right for some exposed applications or where structural load is a limiting factor. The correct choice depends on the site.

Can you make elbows and transitions to match an existing duct network?

Yes. We measure the existing network on site to match sizes precisely, whether you need a new branch added, a damaged fitting replaced or an extension tied into the original ductwork. The right approach is confirmed after the site visit.

How do you choose sheet thickness for each section?

Thickness follows section size: a large duct needs heavier sheet to hold its shape under pressure, a small one can use lighter material. We apply the SMACNA requirements to each section in the project individually, not a single thickness across the whole job.

Does Jeddah's humidity and salt air affect which sheet material to use?

Yes, particularly for sections exposed to outdoor air or installed near fresh-air intakes. G90 galvanized sheet performs well inside the building, but aluminium is the better choice where duct is in continuous contact with Jeddah's humid, salt-laden air. The site survey determines the right material for each section.

Why is fabricated duct better than cutting it on site?

On-site hand-cut duct lacks precision and has significant air leakage at the joints. Workshop-fabricated duct arrives with calibrated dimensions and precisely calculated complex fittings, so it fits directly with no remeasuring or adjustment.

How does ductwork handle Al Shati's wide open spaces?

Al Shati's wide spaces and high ceilings require a large and complex duct network. Fabricated duct allows every turn and height to be accounted for precisely, distributing air evenly throughout the building with no loss to leakage.

Does intense summer heat affect the duct material?

G90 galvanized and aluminium sheet withstand intense heat and thermal expansion, but precisely fabricated duct allows adequate clearance for expansion at the joints when installed.

Do we need engineering drawings before fabrication starts?

Our team can measure the site directly, or you can provide drawings if available. Either way gives precise results, and the duct is fabricated based on the measured or drawn data.
